    I’m pretty sure this is Miku Kobato spearheading these new changes , her being the main busines person of the band with the backing of the rest. I would have paid anything to be a fly on the wall of that meeting when the decision was being done between the Maids ! 😊

      I’m sure Kanami’s economic and business management degree came into the mix. The little genius and Miku probably had this planned for awhile. With Miku’s leadership, Kanami smarts, and Saiki merchandise input they will be successful.

    The Japanese Band-Maid fan t-shinji noticed on Sept 12 that Platinum Passport had re-branded as Evidem and Band-Maid was not on their webpage. Their webpage was very stripped down so at the time, maybe it just wasn't finished. I checked today and it hasn't changed. No mention of any of their acts. I also noticed today they had also changed offices. I don't know how many other bands they had besides Band-Maid. Passpo and Predia are long gone. They had Silent Siren who went on hiatus when their drummer left but Silent Siren came back recently. I remember seeing photos years ago of a Platinum Passport awards ceremony where Band-Maid got an award. There was a fair number of acts present, including a famous enka singer. It feels like they have done a big downsizing. Band-Maid might have had to find a new management company or found their own.

    Wishing all success to the ladies, they have certainly earned it. Scandal did something similar a few years back On Christmas Eve 2018 during their "Best Xmas 2018 Concert" at Akasaka Blitz, Scandal announced the formation of their own band-run music label "her". They describe the label as a platform for them to "freely explore" themselves and their artistry.

    It has its positives but also comes with big risks being independent will mean more work outside of the music, or employing people to do that all. There are positives and negatives. Also doesn't mean that they will let people freely use their stuff either especially when it will be even more important to make money. But ultimately good luck to them I hope it pans out or at least makes enough money, most independents live off their local fanbase so more Japan tours will be more important, as if the world domination doesn't take off they will still be able to live comfortably.

      Well it is a move not totally unexpected. A lot of the older Marketing companies analysed thevjapanese market in immute Details but they were absoluter risk averse. Babymetal had no real choicevthey simply were too big, when they were small but itbwas much easier to calculate for the world. They needed more potential Fans and on thevWorldwide scale it was much simpler to reach the necessary numbers.

    It kind of feels like them moving from using other people's compositions to using their own. I might have enjoyed their pre-Alone songs, but they really developed their style and sound when they were able to write their own music. I'm hoping that this change allows them to really explore and develop how they want and not how a management company wants. It might be hard work and carry new stresses, but I can see this being a second blooming for them. It will be an exciting time to watch and listen!

    The management system in Japan seemed a bit dodgy to me. For example their mangement team was also their record label....rather a conflict of interest. Also, I saw an interview where Kanami said she wasn't able to use any of the old songs rejected by her record company, suggesting they had all the publishing rights and weren't letting her use them.

    They take their destiny in their hands. Their agency would have disbanded the group if not for the success of Thrill. It's a risk but they are courageous women and they have always overcome obstacles as they say. Kanami has a degree in Economics and Management and the others are also intelligent and resourceful. But they kept their chief manager and their agent. Weird. However, they are the bosses now. Let's continue to support them.

    • @stevehall5128
      @stevehall5128 18 дней назад +1

      I think usually that's what's called a "distribution deal." I.e., a Japanese label as a whole, or for an individual act, could negotiate a deal with, for example, Sony US or SubPop to distribute their material. There was a lot of that kind of thing with UK and US alternative groups back in the 80s and 90s so that they didn't have to be hunted down in a local record store's "Imports" section. I dunno how electronic distribution has impacted that, though.

    • @thomasjmclain

      @mightydegu 18 дней назад +3

      Their previous agency was only managing them. All other talent had already left Platinum Passport.The contract between the band and the agency probably expired. I believe the former Platinum Passport has even separated from Platinum Productions. Now, instead of Band-Maid working for a talent management company, they will have managers working for them. More work and more responsibility, but also more freedom and potentially greater rewards. Also, this has no effect on their recording contract. That's completely separate and should continue just as before.
