Thank you for your contents! Your videos make me miss working in the theatre! 🥰
I missed running the rehearsals of center stage 😂 I really like this show.
Hey man, I know right! Making this video has made me miss everybody so much 🥺😁
Thank you Miss Christine. Your video is impormative. 😊☺️
Glad it was helpful!
Wow!!!! It's so nice to see all of you now, miss you, guys!!! 💕💕
It's great to see you back with another video! I particularly enjoy your focus on the unique aspects of each performance or show. Learning that production mics weren't shared for headliners was a new on on me. I would have assumed that using available equipment would be the norm on a ship with limited resources. This topic alone for me could have been the subject of a captivating video from your perspective as a shipboard sound technician. While I may not fall into your target audience due to my lack of aspirations to work on a ship, I wholeheartedly support your creative endeavors and encourage you to continue producing the content that resonates with you.
I appreciate your reply. I do think that videos are helpful for people who don't want to work on ships. I did one contract and everything I learned on board has helped me in all jobs that I have worked on land since. The professional practices I learned from royal transfer directly over to the world of live theatre sound and production shows.
I was waiting this video for ages! You are the best Christine ❤
Thanks for standing by. Will do my best to get them out faster 😁✨
Thanks for a cool video!! Can't wait to start my first contract with RC :)
Hi Christine - thanks so much for sharing this, it's really helpful! I was wondering what your schedule normally looks like (time off, port days vs sea days, etc.) and how things differ for lounge techs vs sound techs?
this^
I have made a few videos about days in the life. I always say no day is the same. I will make video that goes through a cruise ship schedule and talk about when you are needed in the theatre and when you can leave the ship. Does that sound good?
@@christinecaldbecksounds good
Oh I do recognise many faces from the time I worked in that ship last year😄
Hey Christine! Just applied for Sound Technician and Sound Operator for Royal! I’ve gone to school and done work in the audio field, but more in a studio setting. I’m really looking forward to doing this, but there’s just a few minor things I haven’t had a whole lot of hands on work with. Is there like training that comes with boarding? If I even get an offer anyways. Thanks!
I've worked in restaurants back in BR ots, now embarked as tech for other cruise line and its amazing to see hows the backstage workflow at rcl!
Glad you enjoyed 😊
I'm thinking about appyling for Royal Caribbean I want to be able to do Lighting/ help out with the Aqua shows they do on the Oasis class ships
You would be looking at light tech, Lounge tech or stage technician jobs. Unfortunately as a new hire you rarely get a say in what ship you get put on. It all depends on the individual.
Are you allowed to get off and explore at the stops?
Yea of course! When we are ported there is normally not a lot going on in the theatre. Which means you are free to explore 😊
I did a short course in broadcasting and sound technician but I’m not sure if I have enough work experience I’m afraid I’ll go on and now know anything about my job
Im interesting job technician sound ...can u show the link .
Hay hay I have been shortlisted for production technician kindly help me to get prepared for the interview
Hi Cristine, I'm a sound technician in Brazil and I'd like to work there, which companies can I look for in this area?
Royal Caribbean, MSC, Carnival, Disney, Celebrity Cruises, P&O, AIDA, NCL to name but a few
Any tips for applying for Royal? I feel like I have the qualifications working in theatre and entertainment but not sure they would hire me at 24 years old
They hired me at 23! It is all about your experiance as opposed to your age. I applied for lounge tech but they saw my experiance and decided to upgrade me to sound tech straight away. They are really stuck for good technicians so don't let self doubt stop you from applying.
What is a good degree to get for going into sound for live theater like this?
Heyy mam! Love from India!!! I wanna join cruise industry as show sound tech! Can u give me some tips and helpful remarks for working in cruise lines in near future? I'll be glad❤️
Hey there, I have a made a few videos about working as a sound technician last year and i also have some about general crew life. I will be doing a Q&A Livestream on the 19th of February so tune in if you want to ask a few questions :)
How old are you ? How you step in agency or direct hire?
I filmed this on a Royal Carribbean ship. I was 23 when I was hired through an agency.
