I love both country pop and country music! One’s story telling, patriotic, and has a meaning in their song. and the other sub genre has a little bit of a pop beat and sound to it but still has a good country vibe and feel to it! 💖👍

@@ponygirl2398 grew up in the late 80's, 90's and my mom was always listening to country from that era..Daddy was classic rock and Momma was country, little bit of city with a country boy heart. Grew up in a town of around 7,000 people and didn't get out much until I got a little older.

Why are people so afraid of country music changing. Rap is NOTHING like it was during the 80s, Pop was even more different, EDM didn't even exist. Genres change, and it's annoying that country music has changed the least. It's changed, but not as much as other genres. It's changed _just_ enough to notice different eras of country music.
olympian00 I don't consider this evolution, though, it's complete displacement. It's a rebranding of a song under a genre label that is supposed sound nothing like this.
I mean, heck, people give them a lot of trouble but at least I understand that Florida Georgia Line being country is grounded in the sounds that are defining of the term "country music". They're doing a lot of out there things in terms of theme and it ruffles feathers with traditionalists but even I, as a modern listener of country music, can't place this as a country song. It just doesn't have anything that I would connect to that line of music. The only reason I have to argue that it doesn't feel like a country song is because it shows up on country music stations. You put this next to something from Katy Perry and I wouldn't think twice about it.

This song isn't pure country. It's pop country, which is still country. In fact, I think it sounds a lot like something Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt, Brad Paisley, or Keith Urban would sing.
+olympian00 As you yourself said, genres change, but that shouldn't give it a free pass. Not one genre is better now than it was before it sold out to merge with the pop industry. I know that regardless of what I say, people will continue to like this style of music, but at very least, I hope people look into where this music comes from, and I hope they understand that not even the writers, singers, and producers of these songs have any personal attachment to what they make. They're generic stories written for the masses, and that is truly an undeniable shame.
JBtheExplorer I don't see anything wrong with just writing a song for fun. Music is an expression of many different feelings. Sometimes, artists don't want to make a song about suffering or anger or betrayal. A lot of times, artists just write songs that are catchy and upbeat because they're happy. Maybe it is sort of generic, but that doesn't make it any less fun. Of course, it's easy to understand why adult males don't really like that kind of music, especially in a country audience, so I see where you're coming from.
And also, this song is still very obviously country. It's teen pop country.

I believe that you think I don't like songs that are upbeat. I enjoy upbeat songs. I think you completely missed the point of what I said. I should start by pointing out that singers don't write their own songs. Yes, they'll occasionally get a writing credit, especially for singles. It helps out when they're promoting the song so they can tell fans how they relate to it. Catchy songs aren't written because an artist is happy, it's written because the label hires writers and producers to make music that sticks in people's heads and is easy to remember. I don't dislike music based on it being upbeat, or based on the age range or gender it was created for. I dislike music that essentially comes off an assembly line. I dislike that record labels fool so many into thinking this music is genuine. All in all, I dislike that a true artform is no longer true.
"Are you just crazy or crazy over me" is right up there with Frampton's "You can't erase a dream, you can only wake me up".
