Thanks for being your wonderful self, Al!
I remember the days of Ask Al on Facebook Live. I was in college then, and I'd watch you while eating lunch between classes on a Wednesday. You might have remembered me as the guy who had a lot of questions (yeah, that aspect of me never went away).
I don't think some people quite grasp the BOOM of supply in things like calisthenics content. Even 10 years ago, there wasn't NEARLY as many resources, channels, and knowledge available as there is now.
Thanks for helping lead the charge in popularizing calisthenics. I think bodyweight training will continue to grow as a "viable option." Maybe someday people will even spell it correctly in the comments sections! Maybe.
Happy to hear about your family. Hope you're doing well, sir.

Thanks for doing this update, Al! As a late teen when my best friend and I started watching your channel, your content was truly inspirational and shaped my fitness journey for the rest of my life. Weight training seems to be unsustainable for me, and after 2 back surgeries at 19 and 22 from deadlift and clean and jerk, I continue to to rely on calisthenics now as a rock Climber at 24. I feel so exhilarated by the progress I make on the bar, and there have been many moments in life where my training has brought me solace emotionally. Thank you for starting/guiding this movement with your content, you've been an inspiration to myself and many friends.
P.S. I have a picture from high school of myself doing a flagpole on a friend like you and your brother. It's a pretty iconic photo from that period of my life amongst my friends!

Got this video randomly recommended and i had no idea the journey i was going to go through watching this. Having no idea who you are i just assumed it was another random calisthenics video and someone showing all they had accomplished in 12 years of calisthenics and their thoughts... Although this was exactly that it was definitely far from what i expected haha. I'm happy for you as one could say you're one of the forfathers of calisthenics in the modern day at least.
I myself only started calisthenics this year and my current goal is to work towards a planche, i would also like to start doing handstands at some point as my shoulders need work to be able to hold the planche but i'm hesitant to train them as i don't really have any soft grounding around me with something i can lean against to gain shoulder strength via assisted handstands

Your journey is inspirational, and being the same age as you i can relate to the mindset of seeing the journey rather than the finish line. I started Cali from just doing pull ups and not being able to do a pull up, then a kid comes along and bangs out 5 in a row. I was like " damn, i need to get my strength up ". I digress.. I started seeing people in the park do weird tricks on the bar and hit youtube, then i saw people like yourself and brother, Hannibal, Austin, Thenx and barstarzz. I must confess man, those days i was a cheapskate so i got your book from a.. lets say underhanded way and started to apply the techs, you guys have a simple, effective tried and tested way of teaching that doesnt withhold vital parts of info for progression. Slowly i started to be interested in Gymnastics and Kinetics so i branched into flipping, dynamic strength and movement area and now tune into ido portal also. Thank you for your contribution to our community and keep learning thats how we stay young.

So many times we larch on to these youtubers who are "natural" and spend 100's even 1,000's on there online training/coaching in hopes of looking like them.
