On a note other than the sound of the exhaust... it's refreshing to "meet" a Camaro RUclipsr that actually talks about the cost of some mods in a real-world way. So many seem to have money falling out of their arses and are making mad mods from the get-go. Some people have to save, and sacrifice, and actually wait to do some of the things we want to do. Enjoying the channel.
$2000 exhaust is crazy... I went with the Corsa Extreme for $1250. It's absolutely amazing! The sound splitting is awesome. No drone at all and I mean none. All the sound actually comes out the back like it should. I couldn't be happier. I switched out the stock exhaust that had Magnaflow bullets on the axle back with the Coras Extreme system. Couldn't be happier. I have a 2014 Camaro SS1LE.
MojaveKY Yeah I was looking at that. All I can say is do what you want to do with it all. Whatever makes you happy. Good luck thanks for sharing your journey.
You're missing the entire point of pulling the fuse. It's not about making the car louder. It's about keeping the exhaust opened, so you always get a consistent sound.
What I don't understand is , if the flap has a electric actuator that moves it . would it be stuck in the position that it was in when the fuse was pulled. I guess it would mean that power has to be going to the flap to keep it closed? So if you pull the battery the flap would open? Plus there is a control on the my link to adjust the exhaust in any mode.
I pulled mine about a month ago and it changed the car for just driving around. It definitely is holding me over like you said till I pull the trigger on an exhaust.
so you can change you exhaust to always be on track mode without switching the suspension comfort. I have a 2016 SS Camaro I did it first day I got it. exhaust is on track mode while everything else is on tour.
Yeah man! I been enjoying it for that reason too. It has a different sound at highway speeds and you can rev it more easily in my experience. Not that I rev it all the time but I can't stand it when the exhaust closes up just after attempting a rev. I've pulled the fuse now for two weeks and I'm liking it. Some day when I put on headers I'll probably put the fuse back in. Great video nicely done and I think I saw you had a grown up helper this time!
I find it funny we have all the tech to control the exhaust, steering, ride comfort, etc, yet no one gives us the option to open the exhaust. Car makers should know by now what we want!
Love the video thank you for the input. I have a 16 V6 rally sport if I pull the fuse am I going to get a check engine light. Also can you tell me what you think about cut outs on the exhaust looking to do this. When I rev the motor I do not get full throttle is there some kind of laminator on here that I can bypass. Your videos are very informative if you can help me on this I really appreciate it.
Thanks man I appreciate it. I did not get any check engine light so I don't think you will. I don't know much about cutouts and don't want to give bad advice. Are you doing full throttle with the car in park ? There is a limiter on our cars
MojaveKY OK I do have a limiter when I rev the engine in park. The cut outs is a throttle that’s connected to the exhaust and you can control it by opening it or closing it so what I’m saying is I don’t want to have exhaust open at all times just want to have a little sound to it
yeah I just remember talking to Lethal Camaro and he took his off but I dont recall why. He is at CamaroFest (on his way) but I can ask him when he gets back to town
MojaveKY Yes I see that Mat has his car on a trailer on the way. Just finished my cut outs really happy the way it looks and sounds really awesome and I did pull the fuse I did see it a little difference thank you for your awesome video with your information. Too bad I couldn’t send you a photo of the car with the new cut outs in here.
Another cool video. You also do the electric exhaust cutout. Want it loud, flip the switch. Want to creep in the neighborhood flip the switch the other way.
pretty awesome video. But I wonder what the difference would be doing the exact same thing with a stick shift? I gotta tell you, I absolutely love revving my engine especially in Track mode....it sounds amazing.
If you have the dual mode exhaust (NPP) it works on the manual as well. Check your manual to make sure it is the same fuse (#51). I don't know if this would hit your warranty but I would doubt it since that fuse only controls a flap in the exhaust system
It is all the way behind the 02 sensors so no codes should be thrown. I am not throwing any and no one I know has. I never threw one on the 5th Gen either. But it would be a quick fix if you did. Just plug it back in
Please do the decibel measurement in various modes with fuse in when you go with the borla exhaust. I like the factory Stealth for every day, but when I want it loud I want it way more aggressive over stock track or sport. I'd like to see how loud Stealth is with an aftermarket npp cat back.
The entire point of this video was to check/compare the noise levels w/wo the fuse in the different modes but why take the levels from inside the car? Would have been more appropriate from outside, on the rear bumper to get a true reading on what the exhaust sounded to the world and would have reflected real increases.
Sure I understand that but the real point of the video was did I notice it louder because I stated I want the car louder. I certainly understand your point though
Track mode Vs fuse pull would have been the more meaningful test - although the flaps will open on hard acceleration in any mode, except snow/ice (stealth) I override the steering and suspension to Touring - bad left shoulder, plenty of weight for me; some rough roads around here. The engine sound option I either set to Track or default to driving mode. I tried the fuse-pull, but this wasn't different enough from Track for my ears to detect - I don't have any fancy Db meter, so I play it by ear. Also, when set in Track - or hard acceleration in Sport - I get all the same burbles, crackles, and farts as pulling the fuse, and a nasty "brap" on upshifts. I'd advise you to keep the fuse in - allowing your blind-spot monitors to work - and just set it to override the NPP to Track mode. * I have a Vitesse throttle controller and a K&N Typhoon CAI, if that makes a difference...
When changing the modes it seems you didn’t do it right. For the exhaust you’re supposed to go into the radio options and change the exhaust sound management options. I didn’t see you reach at all there. I’m guessing you just used the physical button near the ebrake. That does nothing for sound.
You can put your exhaust mode in Track regardless of driving mode selected under the setting menu. Waste of time pulling this fuse and watching this video.
I_AM_WILDCATS_DAD wrong. even if you set the drive mod to track mode the valves still close at certain Rpms on the Hwy. Pulling the fuse is the ONLY way to have them open full time.
Even in track mode 20% will close up during cruise or light loads. By pulling the fuse you force the flap to stay open 100% of the time. Still not same as getting the Borla ATAK system.
They also sell remote la where you can open the exhaust whenever and close it
On a note other than the sound of the exhaust... it's refreshing to "meet" a Camaro RUclipsr that actually talks about the cost of some mods in a real-world way. So many seem to have money falling out of their arses and are making mad mods from the get-go. Some people have to save, and sacrifice, and actually wait to do some of the things we want to do. Enjoying the channel.
Thanks Tim ! I am just an owner of the car. Have a real job and 2 kids in college. So I know what you mean. I have to save to do things

Agreed, $2k is nuts. I think they are charging more for the 16s and even more for the NPP capable ones. I am not sure what I am going to do.
MojaveKY Yeah I was looking at that. All I can say is do what you want to do with it all. Whatever makes you happy. Good luck thanks for sharing your journey.
if the valve is closed when pulling the fuse would that not just keep it closed?
You're missing the entire point of pulling the fuse. It's not about making the car louder. It's about keeping the exhaust opened, so you always get a consistent sound.
Didn’t need to pull the fuse to achieve this 👌
You can do all this in your settings.
It’s not the same. The computer still kicks in
I have a borla atak catback w/o npp. Would pulling the fuse improve the sound?
I doubt it
What I don't understand is , if the flap has a electric actuator that moves it . would it be stuck in the position that it was in when the fuse was pulled. I guess it would mean that power has to be going to the flap to keep it closed? So if you pull the battery the flap would open? Plus there is a control on the my link to adjust the exhaust in any mode.
The control actually doesn't keep it open all the time. We did some tests and it does mostly keep it open but not under all loads.
I pulled mine about a month ago and it changed the car for just driving around. It definitely is holding me over like you said till I pull the trigger on an exhaust.
Yeah it gives a little but we definitely need something louder
so you can change you exhaust to always be on track mode without switching the suspension comfort. I have a 2016 SS Camaro I did it first day I got it. exhaust is on track mode while everything else is on tour.
Shawn Robinson yes as long as you have npp option
Yeah man! I been enjoying it for that reason too. It has a different sound at highway speeds and you can rev it more easily in my experience. Alpha Camaro yes I sure did

Work Play Drive just feeding the after market
My 2015 v6 rs fuse 51 is the horn the npp flaps are located in the fuse panel in the back right of the car
Thanks
I have a 6 speed manual and in second gear pops like crazy I love!!!!!
elhanan vekselberg
I have a gen6 2SS MRC 6MT with the NPP exhaust, so is it worth pulling the fuse with the NPP exhaust?
Thanks...

Please don’t just keep yours stock
Another cool video. You also do the electric exhaust cutout. Want it loud, flip the switch. Want to creep in the neighborhood flip the switch the other way.
P-and-A Photos I have considered that
Does is affect the tune ?
Did not effect mine
The reason why it does that is it make operation more efficient and powerful, but only slightly.
Biggest difference i found with the fuse out is when cruising, it doesnt shut the valves and quiet it while you are driving calmly
Yes the fuse does a real opening and leaves it open
Cold Start fuse in: 2:44
Cold Start no fuse: 3:14
25MPH Cruise fuse in: 3:35
50MPH Cruise fuse in 4:26
Wide Open Throttle fuse in: 5:03
Warm start fuse in: 6:05
Warm start no fuse: 6:49
25MPH Cruise no fuse: 8:39
50MPH Cruise no fuse: 9:06
Wide Open Throttle no fuse: 9:41
Modes with fuse: 11:24
Modes with no fuse: 12:55
Overall Chart Showing dB Differences: 14:05
Thanks man ! Thats awesome of you to do that
Talks too much saying the same thing his cut scenes say.
You sweet little youtube angel you
the fuse only truly affects the tour or snow and ice modes cause instead of the flap being close it will be open
Is Fuse pull louder than simply running track mode?
Does the fuse pull mess with the warranty or anything? Just wondering before I do it
Sasha Grabovac I would doubt it but not positive
Sasha G no. Its like having a burnt fuse so they can’t void it
Which one is the fuse to pull on a v6 2013 Camaro?
Sorry don’t know
Do us all a favor and don’t mod your v6 exhaust
@@Abshortz77 why not
pretty awesome video. But I wonder what the difference would be doing the exact same thing with a stick shift? I gotta tell you, I absolutely love revving my engine especially in Track mode....it sounds amazing.
Tim Henry same effect
MojaveKY ok cool
I have a 2017 camaro 1ss manual. Is it the same thing and will it void my warranty?
Thanks
If you have the dual mode exhaust (NPP) it works on the manual as well. Check your manual to make sure it is the same fuse (#51). I don't know if this would hit your warranty but I would doubt it since that fuse only controls a flap in the exhaust system
Wow! Didn't expect that quick reply man. Appreciate it. One more question tho. Will it trigger my check engine light if I pull it out?
It is all the way behind the 02 sensors so no codes should be thrown. I am not throwing any and no one I know has. I never threw one on the 5th Gen either. But it would be a quick fix if you did. Just plug it back in
Cool bro! Thanks again for the quick response. More power to you @MojaveKY
Thanks man ! I am busy fighting some stupid headers so I appreciate the kind words

Kirby Reynolds will do. I plan on getting the Atak so should be interesting
Did you feel reducing in the low end torque?
I mean the torque from the dead stop to move, between 500 rpm to 1000 rpm ?
It wasn't noticeable to me
The entire point of this video was to check/compare the noise levels w/wo the fuse in the different modes but why take the levels from inside the car? Yeah since the car is designed to isolate noise from the cabin, or atleast have a window cracked
Does this turn your check engine light????????
No it didn't
Ok good
2017 SS oil pressure always below 40 psi is that normal?
At normal operation that seems right
hey boss, this has been done since the 5th gen.. Nice tho huh.
yeah I did this on my 5th Gen cause everyone talked about it. But I never saw if it really did anything. Now at least I know what it is doing for me
MojaveKY
true that
do you think the fuse pull will sound good on a 1lt (v6) 2012 Camaro?
t rob don't think it will do anything without npp exhaust
MojaveKY do they not make npp exhaust for lts?
t rob not for 2012s
my 2016 2lt rs v6 sounds really good when i pulled the fuse out... it really makes a difference... and sounds pretty goos for a v6...
DOES THAT WORK ON THE 2014
Alfonso Pina yes if you have npp exhaust. Not sure which fuse it is on 2014 though
Any drone after the fuse off?
Not that I heard but I have not done a long highway drive yet. I will let you know if I hear any once I get a good drive in. Raining today
Track mode Vs fuse pull would have been the more meaningful test - although the flaps will open on hard acceleration in any mode, except snow/ice (stealth)
I override the steering and suspension to Touring - bad left shoulder, plenty of weight for me; some rough roads around here. The engine sound option I either set to Track or default to driving mode. * I have a Vitesse throttle controller and a K&N Typhoon CAI, if that makes a difference...
Thanks, my blind spot was annoying so it was no big deal doing the fuse pull
When changing the modes it seems you didn’t do it right. For the exhaust you’re supposed to go into the radio options and change the exhaust sound management options. I didn’t see you reach at all there. I’m guessing you just used the physical button near the ebrake. That does nothing for sound.
With the fuse pulled it does not close so you don't need to go into the radio settings
lol how does noone understand its in your settings put it to track for exhbaust and select what ever you want
Cause setting doesn't do it completely
You can put your exhaust mode in Track regardless of driving mode selected under the setting menu. Waste of time pulling this fuse and watching this video.
and the car will over ride it when cruising
I_AM_WILDCATS_DAD
wrong. even if you set the drive mod to track mode the valves still close at certain Rpms on the Hwy. Pulling the fuse is the ONLY way to have them open full time.
Redzone please explain further. What rpms will it close at? Will it close when you 0-60 and reach a certain rpms?
on my 2018 1le. reguardless of which mode your in. u can select to have your exaust wide open at all times
Even in track mode 20% will close up during cruise or light loads. By pulling the fuse you force the flap to stay open 100% of the time. Still not same as getting the Borla ATAK system.
What fuse is on a 2015 camaro ss? Is it same?
Not sure. Let me see if one of the Gen 5 guys knows
