Thanks man! I’ve had my Tundra for 6 years and that button never worked. I thought it was the module that was broken until I saw your video. Thanks for the instructions and the detail. I went the route of unplugging the non existent sonar and swapping the existing wires. Either way, I’m happy it works and sad to see the mpg I’m getting LOL
Great video! My dad is trying to add the oem sonar (park assist) to his 2012 SR5 Long bed, he found the wire harnesses for everything except the wire harness that would plug into the sonar ECU which apparently would be located near the ECM behind the glove box. He's plugged everything else in required to make the sonar system operational so plugging in the Sonar ECU is the last missing piece that he cant seem to figure out. Any advice you could give him? Thanks in advance.
Hey, unfortunately I've never fiddled with the sonar stuff in these trucks. Its possible some of that stuff is missing entirely and that those trucks with sonar just have a different wiring harness. If possible I'd try to see if any nearby junkyards have a wrecked one with sonar you can poke around in. That might be a long shot though
I honestly just punched in the part number online and searched through some dealerships, then just took the cheapest one (which honestly wasn't as cheap as I'd wished).
You're certain you have the wires going from the sub connector below the steering wheel to the back of the cluster? And also that your display in the dash has the extra outputs?
as much as im happy for you for having all of those wires, it would be great if this showed the removal of the stuff needed if you didnt have the wires between JL-1 and JL-28 which is the connector on the back of the instrument cluster. cant find on on youtube anywhere!
Sorry, I had been tempted to do that cause I wanted the video to be more complete. But my time with the truck was short, and unfortunately I don't have access to this vehicle anymore
@@tailsg8594 No need to apologize. its still very helpful. sorry if this came off as a criticism, it was actually just a general whiny complaint about there being no vid out there as good as this one showing the 2nd half that some folks need to go through. im hoping my buttons will be here before this weekend and if i dont have the JL1-JL28 wires ill try to film that part.
@scott. Did you verify that the wires made it all the way to the back of the instrument cluster or just that you have the wires behind the actual switch?
Wes- did you end up successfully running those wires and getting it to work or did you return the switch? Im in the same boat(only the setup button works - and i have all wires to the first connector). Thanks

yours is broken. says 20mpgs
That's pretty much what it always got on the highway. This is the 4.6 engine, not the 5.7
I get a little better than that with my 4.0 V6 on my '12 SR5 (highway)
So informative. You know your stuff.
I have all 8 wires on the first connector shown, where do you stick the new wire in it? All the holes are taken
Having to disconnect the battery keeps me from doing this upgrade. I hate the task of relearning the idle.
My 07 Limited displays that info in the gage cluster.
Really helpful 👍🏻

I have same 2012 SR5 truck with all wires and it don't work. Just US to metric. Did you try it and could you get it working?
This was awesome man! My 2007 has the display but missing the info and select/reser button! New DIY project for me! Where did you get the part?

Do u have part number
Where you got the buttons from and the wires😭
Where did you buy it? And what is it called ?
I don’t have a plug behind my panel on a 2013 Crew Max Texas Edition….
When u fill up how much range miles you get
Anyone know a link to the connector with all the wires
What is the part called
Where did you find the button cluster at? Junkyard or can you buy it new from yota.
This one was purchased new from a toyota dealership. If you follow the description link I think we found the part number there
Thanks!
I don't have any of this on my 2008 tundra v6 double cab
My buttons still won't work. I bought a new set even and It looks like I have all of the wires

Chris- Same situation. How was it resolved? I have a 2012
Is your 2wd or 4wd?
2012 Tundra CM All 8 Wires at start. Only would change Celsius/Fahrenheit. Bummer
Same! I have all 8 wires and the only one button that works is the Fahrenheit and Celsius button aka “set up us/m” button.
