      Sir Misery has only won TWO matches since the start of the 2024 season (R1 Doha & Dubai) and didn't manage to break even in 2023. Pretty obvious he was long overdue for a second and final retirement.

      @@ben4190 My comment provides context as a counter to your baseless claim about haters. It’s the lack of results that has influenced Sir Misery’s decision to finally retire, again. You may not like what someone says, but that doesn’t mean you can reduce them to merely being a hater. If I didn’t like him, I wouldn’t watch his matches. Simple.

Better than Les Ames, Alan Knott, Geoff Boycott, Bobby Charlton, Ian Botham, Andy Wilkinson (look him up), Gareth Edwards, Chris Froome, Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, and that's just the men..........all huge claims, and all completely impossible to even begin to contemplate logically. Andy, please do not stop. You can raise your level, I believe in you. This is just bad period for you, it shall pass. Train less and work on power of your shots, enjoy more on the court. You lose matches because of lack of power in your shots. Movement is still there, which means you should not retire.

    Andy Murray is a great player, but he is well past his prime and the time to stop can not come to soon, or he will start tarnishing his legacy. What I see on the court now is somebody who relies on instinct and experience rather than athletiscm. I think of course Murray is well aware of this himself and is just finishing his career to get the experience of attending the Olympics again before calling it quits.

How many times must you receive a beatdown on court before you get the message? Make way for fresh talent. The temper tantrums make Sir Misery look even more foolish. The British commentators fall awkwardly silent when he behaves like an impetuous child on court. Sir Misery hasn't reached the QF at any ATP tournament since 2019. Enough already.

      yeah well said, players seem to hang around forever now! it's like they have two careers, one when they were good and then another when they just exist. I think the problem lies with the way the rankings work, a player can be garbage for 51 weeks of the year but do well at a single tournament and maintain a solid ranking, so they hang around another year waiting for lightning to strike again.

    • @got2bjosh
      @got2bjosh 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@ChickenChicken-ps3iu I said what I said. These veteran players don't need the money. They have plenty. They're not even going deep at events. Their presence in the draw arguably takes away opportunities from younger players who need the valuable chance to enter these tournaments and move up the rankings. We're seeing what a difference the Next Gen initiative has made with younger players since it began in 2017. Alcaraz, Sinner, Rune all benefited from the program. That has continued with new teenagers like Menslayer (Czech), Mickey (USA), Fleece (France), & Shelby Woo (Jordan).
