Truly a sad day. Andy Murray has been my favorite player since I first saw him play in 2006. He’s been such an inspiration.
Amen to that my friend! =')
What a Legend in the Sport , We Love Andy Murray 🎾❤️
Un gran ejemplo de valor constancia disciplina rescilencia ... de pasion y respeto por su deporte... un gran deportista...
Well said!!!
A tough day. I guess the haters got what they wanted... Andy is one of the few people I have 100% respect for, and that will never change. He's my favourite player and he's been such an inspiration. Love him. The last true flag flyer for court craft.
Sir Misery has only won TWO matches since the start of the 2024 season (R1 Doha & Dubai) and didn't manage to break even in 2023. Pretty obvious he was long overdue for a second and final retirement.
@@got2bjosh What a completely pointless comment, did you really use your time to type that? Oof.
@@ben4190he’s got so much hate and resentment for a man/legend who has no idea he exists. Quite pathetic really
@@brianlafev4261 I know right 😂
@@ben4190 My comment provides context as a counter to your baseless claim about haters. It’s the lack of results that has influenced Sir Misery’s decision to finally retire, again. You may not like what someone says, but that doesn’t mean you can reduce them to merely being a hater. If I didn’t like him, I wouldn’t watch his matches. Simple.
I hope he knows just how much he's done for tennis, and that he's done well. So well. A sad day for tennis.
I watched Andy play at queens final in 2009 win his first grass court tournament very sad 😞 to see him retire I hope he plays on abit more longer
Dang. He's so fun to watch. But his body has been through a lot!!!!!
Legend…champion…hero…warrior…inspiration…role model…Andy Murray 🙂👍❤️💪
The end is nigh for Murray but he's had a great career. Hopefully he can enjoy these last few months.
Andy is an amazing tennis player and will make a fantastic coach or mentor when he chooses to stop. Very knowledgeable and articulates himself so well. We will miss him on the court but he still has a long, bright future in the tennis industry.
The GREATST BRITISH TENNIS SPORTS PERSON OF ALL TIME WITHOUT ANY DOUBT
Love you Andy!
Legend
The greatest British sportsperson ever
It's beyond ridiculous to compare people across different sports, and across different eras. Better than Les Ames, Alan Knott, Geoff Boycott, Bobby Charlton, Ian Botham, Andy Wilkinson (look him up), Gareth Edwards, Chris Froome, Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, and that's just the men..........all huge claims, and all completely impossible to even begin to contemplate logically. If you had said "my favourite British sportsman of my lifetime" then you'd have had no argument from anyone.
@KutOx totally agree.👍
Gareth Bale is bigger❤
Always full of crap what are you talking about
Phil taylor?
Retire at Wimbledon so we can give you the send off you deserve for everything you have done for British tennis❤
We salute you Andy! Thank you. For everything.
❤❤❤ fan from the Philippines
I've followed your career relentlessly since I first saw u step onto a court as a teenager. Who cares what people say about you regarding your retirement. You know when that will be and that's all that matters. However I'm not throwing out my enormous cardboard cut out I have of you against my bedroom wall. In the past I used to go into the bedroom and shout things like "you can do it". I'm still doing that. I might be 74yrs old but what does age matter!! You have given me so many wonderful memories. "That's my boy" ❤
Every sports star must face this, he owes the sport nothing, happy retirement sir.
Who said he owed the sport anything
@@chrismanteris9093 who said that 🚀😁
I really wish he'd given an equipment change more of a chance... his shots look so underpowered these days and I really wonder if he could have adapted to something more modern with his amazing hands
I don't blame him, he is not beating the players he used to beat . Everything is there , just need to have a long run of victory, like last year
Please finish out at Laver Cup Andy, you're a GOAT in your own right
So he can help Team Europe lose like Moldfils did? Pass. They'll keep it to the young guns.
He will finish at Wimbledon
@@julienlabis2158 Summer includes the Olympics. As a past winner, he’s eligible to compete.
C'mon Andyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏❤
I love you Andy
Gay
You’re a 🐑
Not necessarily, it could be in a compassionate way, don't assume, unless he expresses wanting to live with the guy!@@aca2077
Go out with a BANG Andy ❤
Sir Misery will do Wimby & Olympics then retire. As a former champion at both tournaments, he'll be able to compete. He's still well inside the Top 100 for Wimby, so he won't need a WC. The Olympics allots two additional spots per team for former medalists.
We love you Andy ❤
Come ON andy , from INDONESIA FAns ❤
How many times is he going to retire?
as many imes as he wants
It would be great if he could reach the final of Wimbledon again and retire as either the winner or finalist
Lol, what? Sir Misery hasn't reached a QF at any ATP tournament since 2019.
Haha- Federer has a better chance than Sir Salty- I'm praying for a miracle, Andy will go out 1st round at SW19!
no chance
No chance for Andy, we know.@@t-bone7988
@@got2bjoshlol what? He’s been in 3 ATP finals since then. Twice in 2022 and once last year.
Drastic change from his part.
The other day he acted offended when ppl asked why he did not retire after get beaten over and over again
Andy should have retired 2/3 years ago after the latest hip injury and joined the seniors tour. Along with Fognini, Venus Williams and a few others. It tarnishes a stellar career to go out barely winning past 1st round in every tournament. He's had a superb career, time to face the music and end on a high note.
At least he can say he beat Alcaraz 😅
Hardly to believe and sad for him, after longer times of stunning performance Murray has broken into Federer-Djoker-Nadal-Tri-Top….I am not sure, but I think given the surgeries for Hips he is not more mobile as before. Top-Tennis is a merciless sport and no one wait for your come back after longer injury subjected off time.
I wish Andy would play doubles, he has a chance to win a slam.
Hes bored of the question but this is the first video ive seen of him mentioning retirement.
How terribly sad.... But fully respect his decision.
Andy, please do not stop. You can raise your level, I believe in you. This is just bad period for you, it shall pass. Train less and work on power of your shots, enjoy more on the court. You lose matches because of lack of power in your shots. Movement is still there, which means you should not retire.
😢 ❤ him!
I was a fan in the past but I frankly don't enjoy watching him play anymore. It's painful to watch him move on the court.
This was already here.. then 2nd retirement and then 3rd and …. Just kiddin.. do what is best for yoh Andy!! 😊
Finally. Sir murray have a break, take a bow
Andy had a great career and so many highlights but at this moment he should just retire. He pushed and tried to overcome the newcomers and surgery but it's obvious he is not going to. I'm sure his post-tennis career will be amazing with managing his business ventures.
After watching today's match and the previous year especially-- it's been VERY difficult to remain competitive and Andy's lost his edge over the past year and now ranked near 150 worldwide. .. Due to new AMAZING blood coming in + age. (Although Djoko is 36, he's a real rarity). I told myself that it's best he retire. - Just seeing this now. He's given us great moments, "stole" a few from the BIG 3
Sir Misery is still comfortably in the top 100. Was in the 50s now in the 60s.
Farewell Murray
Love Andy Murray ❤❤❤❤❤
Andy ven jugar a Latinoamérica unos partidos de exhibición
He should have ended it at the Australian Open the first time, remember?
It's comments like that which help no one.
2019 Yes i would even say after 2021 against shapovoalv in the 4 round at Wimbledon
Sir Misery hasn't reached a QF at any ATP tournament since 2019. LONG overdue.
@@got2bjosh You really are ignorant, he got to the final of Doha in 2023. If you're going to spread your comment over everyones post, at least get the facts right. The fact of the matter is, is he loves the sport, and loves to compete, no one, including you, can question, judge, or take that. So quite frankly, shove off.
I don't think he truly means to retire after the summer. Maybe he will play less? He wanted to silence the journalists.
Dont give up Murray
How often does Sir Andy have to announce that he's retiring? This seems to become a trend now in Tennis.
Andy Murray is a great player, but he is well past his prime and the time to stop can not come to soon, or he will start tarnishing his legacy. What I see on the court now is somebody who relies on instinct and experience rather than athletiscm. I think of course Murray is well aware of this himself and is just finishing his career to get the experience of attending the Olympics again before calling it quits.
I thought he retired already
Andy, Don't stop. You've already overcome your worst nightmare. And please don't go to pickleball.
Farewell tour Murray
The journalists are such a pain
I stopped being a fan of Murray one year ago, when i saw how he behaved in a match against serbian Troicky at Roland Garros, in 2011. Greetings from Rome Italy
😍
😢
I thought he retired about a decade ago
Excuse me….4th best player of his generation. If you want tennis inspiration then look no further than Roger Federer. Not even in my top 10 of greatest ever British sports man or woman.
Way past his sell by date, age catches up with us all.
Murray Bridge bay❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Good decision, take care of artificial leg.
I guess people got what thely wanted.....😢
Tennis is dead after Djokovic and Murray are gone
Drama queen craving publicity Just go
Just go now, you're never going to win anything
Someone call Cece Peniston... FINALLY! Next up, Theme, Moldfils, Shortzman... the list goes on. Lots of filler clogging up the rankings & tournaments. How many times must you receive a beatdown on court before you get the message? Make way for fresh talent. The temper tantrums make Sir Misery look even more foolish. The British commentators fall awkwardly silent when he behaves like an impetuous child on court. Sir Misery hasn't reached the QF at any ATP tournament since 2019. Enough already.
" How many times must you receive a beatdown on court before you get the message? Make way for fresh talent." - Well said.
They can retire when they want. Stop disrespecting them.
yeah well said, players seem to hang around forever now! it's like they have two careers, one when they were good and then another when they just exist. I think the problem lies with the way the rankings work, a player can be garbage for 51 weeks of the year but do well at a single tournament and maintain a solid ranking, so they hang around another year waiting for lightning to strike again.
@@ChickenChicken-ps3iu I said what I said. These veteran players don't need the money. They have plenty. They're not even going deep at events. Their presence in the draw arguably takes away opportunities from younger players who need the valuable chance to enter these tournaments and move up the rankings. We're seeing what a difference the Next Gen initiative has made with younger players since it began in 2017. Alcaraz, Sinner, Rune all benefited from the program. That has continued with new teenagers like Menslayer (Czech), Mickey (USA), Fleece (France), & Shelby Woo (Jordan).
cry baby
I’m likely not going to play. Haha.
Just say you’re retiring finally and not maybe no one’s interested.
