As a 40 year veteran Producer/Writer/Director of film and television and a life long Zeppelin fanatic, I have to say this documentary caught me by surprise. Indepth, intricate, succinct and evolving, I was mesmorized by this video. Having watched endless hours of video and such over the years, I never viewed anything so intrigueing and insightful as this presentation. Well done my friend. If the members of the band were video producers, I imagine this is exactly how they would want it.
I am honored to read your comment Kirk. Thank you for sharing such analysis that makes me smile to say the least. Long hours of editing and research are very much worth reading your description which fills me with gratitude. I can only imagine the stories and knowledge you have on film and TV. My day job is the opposite of this channel, it pays the bills which is great but it would be a dream come true to enter the audio/visual industry from this creative passion that has driven my life and purpose. As a songwriter/composer with fixation on writing and researching your comment Inspires me. Maybe i could have a 1 on 1 chat or email with you? It would be pivotal in making decisions in my life. I have no clear path on HOW but i feel the WHAT of producing content :) Thank you for Watching Episode 1, parts 2 and 3 coming up. :)
I'm not the only one who noticed how Jimmy improvised the machine gun riff in no quarter. Zeppelin showed vast talent in that song over the years; Jones even did Rachmaninoff among other things in it. Every song on that album had great value, even "Jer-Make-Her" where Bonzo was great. The Crunge was totally underrated; the inside joke is that it was a James Brown groove that is impossible to dance to. A New York newspaper at the time suggested that the rhythm of Led Zeppelin songs could negatively impact cardiac health. Thanks for the endless supply of great video, audio, and factual detail in these episodes. These are mandatory for Zeppelin Fans. ¡Buen Salud y gracias una vez más por un gran esfuerzo!
You sir, ROCK. You have done the most exhaustive and thorough research of Led Zeppelin I have ever encountered. AND your knowledge of specific bootleg recording is second to none. Thank you. Outstanding work, well done!
Wow, thanks! Glad you enjoyed this first installment. I am honored to be a part of the community and committed on delivering Zeppelin fandom videos. I really enjoy the Australian Tour, it has a very special vibe, despite the Outdoor factor playing some numbers on the sound. Stay tuned for Episode 2 premieres next week!
It is certainly well done and I def enjoy. With that said, I'm sure he'll tell you all of the music, studio versions, live recordings and Zep history (in detail) are readily available by this point in time. I can recall in the 90's reading a book on Zep that included very detailed year by year history, track recording, live shows, etc, etc, etc.
Thank you so much @eubieland ! As i make more coffee for script development and editing i salute you. An honor to read your comment. There's more stuff coming up.
These are great documentaries but just like war you had to have been there to know what it was like to hear & see all these great bands live which I was blessed to have witnessed.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories-Very impressed by your thoroughness but there was nothing like watching John Bonham snort coke & puke into a bucket while wearing his Clockwork Orange Bowler hat on while playing his ass off on the Physical Graffitti Tour of 1975 at the L.A. Forum.

You’re making THE BEST Led Zeppelin documentaries I’ve ever see. Thank you JCM! Ps. Plants voice in early days blows my mind every time. If only they captured it when they had the chance. What. Surprises me though is even though Plant lost his voice he NEVER lost his confidence. He actually got more confident IMO. What a bloke!
That is true Smith! Plant became more confident, he embraced change and discovered new areas within himself. Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
I saw Robert Plant in Oklahoma a few years ago. I had seats against the balcony looking down at the stage. After a song ended and applause died down I yelled “ I love you Robert!” He looked up at me like “ Really?” 😂 Incredible show.
I remember on my 13th birthday i bought Led Zepp I, II, III and IV with the money my parents gave me, i took a flight home and i heard the records on my discman. I remember wanting more, and i had to mail Houses of the Holy, it took almost a month since we didnt had a big record store here in my city. Totally worth the wait. About a few months later, some neighbors moved out and we snuck into the house, we played in the house until someone else moved in, and the guy that lived there left How the west was won and the song remains the same cds amongst other dvds. If we had facebook or any other social media back then we would probably give them back but luckly it was 2002, i still have the dvds and cds the neighbor left behind after so many years and they are as good as new.
Discman memories. Wow. That was a throwback indeed. Great stuff. I relate 100% Thank you for watching episode 1. Episode 2 is out now and the final installment Episode 3 premieres this Saturday April 8th!
Cheers to that Bone Ck! I plan on doing more videos for sure :) thank you so much for watching. Hope you enjoy Part 2 of 3 premieres this coming Saturday.
Another incredible Video!!!! As a lifelong ZEP fan and amateur musician it is a real treat to see all these amazing video clips of the mighty Zeppelin at the top of their game and recording and touring. And the fact that you’re not only a fan as well but an accomplished, educated musician really takes it to another level as far as how informative these videos are overall. Thank you soo much for this!! It was extremely enjoyable!!!
Thank you so much for watching Bobby! I try to always keep the balance between fan, musician and researcher, glad it speaks that way! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up! Hope you gave a great week!
This is, so far, as I haven't finished this video, IS ONE AMAZING DIVE INTO ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS! I haven't been paying attention to Rock music and it's history and stories until two years ago, but since then I've been reading up and listening to countless videos, podcasts and articles of rock's best albums. This video is everything I could have ever wanted, gives me a look at what came before, what was going on in the music world OUTSIDE of Led Zeppelin, the troubles they had, the successes and most importantly your personal journey with this album. I hope to aspire to this type of story telling and artistry. Thank you for doing what you do!
I am a classical guitarist by trade now - for the last 45 years. I grew up during this time - the 70's - do you still play classical guitar? Elp was listen to when I was 12 in 72 as was made in Japan. Also Thick as brick - to think the Zep gave us those 5 Lps from 68 to 72…thats incredible. so much in so little time. Actually my in to zip goes back to hearing whole lotta love in 1970 on Wolfman JAcks radio show…aint that a trip? Wolfman Jack baby!!! We could have a lot to talk about…blessings…
Wow you grew up with the classics in both rock and classical composers. I sometimes play classical guitar style techniques and explorations. I have much admiration and respect for guitarists like your, who is your favorite composer or composers?
First album I ever bought with my own money. The good old paper route paid off big time! I was so excited to get home and play it, never rode my bike so fast. LZIV had such a massive impact on me that I spent the next 2-3 months completely absorbed by HOTH. Every night after school, laying in my bed, headphones on, eventually falling asleep to this masterpiece.
That is awesome! You rode your bike like the drum beat for The Song Remains The Same. I relate so much to your comment. Listening to No Quarter at night is quite an experience! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
😀 I bought LZ II in 1969 with my paper route money. I remember riding home, at night, with the album in the basket on my bike, guarding that it would not jump out of the basked as I went over a bump. I listened to LZ III each night before going to bed.
You are doing a fantastic thing for young musicians. They have a credible resource for learning about this music, the right way. Any time a student or group is assigned Zep from here on, they need to watch your videos. They are credible, not bias, and give resourceful explanations in thoughtful and historical relevance. I mean we cannot go back to the past, but thank you so much again for doing this to provide good insight and music education for young musicians. Thank you!
Wow, it's an honor you feel this way about this project. It's a labor of love and admiration for Led Zeppelin without being blinded by fandom. I try to be a fan, musician and researcher as balanced as possible. I appreciate you taking the time to write this comment and watching the episode! Parts 2 and 3 are coming up! Have a great week!
Hey Brett! So good to read your comment, oh yes, the Australian tour, it's been lost in time right? For me, always a nice visit, i still discover new things here and there to this day! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
First, your synesthesia is a gift. I wish I could paint with sound. Second, the way you pull in other references of bands and albums is a treat for those of us with a deep knowledge of music. These docs are really well done.
Painting with sound...oh yes, i can relate, mixing my songs is my favorite part of THAT process for sure. I love CONTEXT when discussing bands and i'm glad that translates into details here, this is why they don't invite me to parties. Thank you for watching Mike! Stay tuned for the third and final installment of this series, Premieres Saturday April 8th!
Wow, what a beautiful music piece tribute you constructed with various Page licks from Houses, particularly "Song Remains the Same" and, of course, "No Quarter". Well placed at the end of your personal story. I saw Zeppelin on August 23, 1971 in Fort Worth, TX. I was 13. They lead off with an amazing "Immigrant Song". Plant's voice was pristine. It was my first ever concert and I was blown away. You and I should step into a time machine and go back and see that show. Definitely my all time favorite concert. I also saw them on May18, 1974 in Dallas, TX. Another great show and super long.
I will cover all their albums for sure :) Also, i'll do some other classic rock/prog bands in between that have a Zeppelin connection or moved in the same universe.
Great news !! One of the best shows I've ever seen was Page/Plant in 1995. I was a little to young for Zeppelin in there heyday. Just glad I can say I saw Jimmy Page in person.
Absolutely fantastic production! The pace of the story unfolding, the colors used, the images, the rare recordings and special insights are just incredible. Well done!
JCM is my favorite/best musical historian making professional grade documentaries about my favorite/the best band. Just think what the Physical Graffiti docs will be like.
When I saw this I was really excited about it. I waited till the right night. Absolutely amazing. Being a Zep head for forty years. This is absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much
While watching your documentaries, and this one is no different, I always have the anxiety of the video ending at the peak of my enjoyment. You manage to make a 40 min video on youtube feel like it belongs to the "shorts" section. Kudos and rock on my friend
Majed!!! Long time no see! Hope you are rocking it and wish you a great week. Thank you so much man, editing this one after the 80s series has been a Blast!
You amaze me with your knowledge & guitar technique & production. Fantastic & phantasmic. Thank you so much for all ov your Led Zeppelin documentaries. Riveted.
As A child I remember it having pride of place in the record store that I would walk past in Belfast City centre. It was in the early 80s that i actually got a copy and then I found out that the photograph on the cover was actually of The Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Hey good to hear back from you. Can’t wait to see more episodes. You’re doing an incredible job. I was wondering how much you are into live Zeppelin bootlegs? If you are into live Zeppelin I encourage you to pick up Luis Reys “The Led Zeppelin Tape Documentary”. He just released his latest updated version a few months ago and it’s incredible. I think you’d absolutely love it. I have all previous editions. I picked up his first edition back in 93 and I couldn’t put it down. I had already been collecting Zeppelin bootlegs for about ten years up to that point but his book made me hunt down every show I was missing in my collection up to that point….and that was a tough task before the internet came around. It took me about 5 more years, but I found collectors I could trade with….and I started buying bootleg CDs from Japan. I was able to collect ever live show available up to that point thanks to the help of Luis’s book. I ended up meeting him in 97 and had him sign the 3rd edition of his book. It was a great moment for me. He’s a super nice guy and loves Zeppelin as much as you and I. Anyway,I really feel you’d enjoy his book and it’s pretty reasonable priced on Amazon right now. Check it out. All the best to you and keep up the great work. Cheers ✌️
Led Zeppelin - May 5th, 1973 - Tampa Stadium, Tampa, Florida, USA. 'Houses Of The Holy' Tour. Tickets were $5.50 in advance, $6.00 the day of the show. I was there with my best friend and concert Buddy, Gary (R.I.P.) It was a month before my 16th birthday. It was the most festive show I've ever been to. As we entered the stadium we were hit with a mixed aroma of Weed and Patchouli. As we got into the stadium itself, there were Frisbees and Beachballs flying all over the place and people being tossed into the air using blankets and even people making Human Pyramids 3 and 4 people high. I'll never forget that day if I live to be 100. It was a Perfect, Beautiful, Sunny day for 55,800 Zep fans. This show was in the Led Zeppelin book, 'Hammer Of The Gods' and also 'The Guinness World Book Of Records' for largest single billed (Rock) concert. Here is the Set List (1) Rock and Roll (2) Celebration Day (3) Black Dog (4) Over The Hills And Far Away (5) Misty Mountain Hop (6) Since I've Been Loving You (7) No Quarter (8) The Song Remains The Same (9) The Rain Song (10) Dazed And Confused (11) Stairway To Heaven (12) Moby Dick (13) Heartbreaker (14) Whole Lotta Love (15) The Ocean - Encore #1 (16) Communication Breakdown Encore #2
I have had this video saved for a month and finally just watched it.The details, research, rare video and pictures are amazing. Your detailed musical descriptions, including time signatures, tunings, etc are impressive. I bought Houses of the Holy at the age of 13 when it had just been released. The only song that I didn't like was D'yer Maker.I did like The Crunge and it seems funny to call it a controversial track. If you talk about listening to Zep albums from beginning to end,IV and Houses of the Holy are their 2 best overall records in my opinion and it helps that the production is great on both albums too. Marvelous job my friend. I hope someone recognizes your talent and hires you to make more music documentaries.
Another thoroughly enjoyable and remarkably well researched addition to the canon. Genuinely, I hope Jimmy himself will watch these as they're a treat of exquisite proportions.
Wow, Thank you Rdorman71, your words made my day! Editing these videos is FUN, Stressful and FUN hehe. A labor of love and admiration for the band that shaped our lives. From a Zepp fan to a Zepp fan, Long Live the Zepps! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
I might be the rare Zep fan- didn’t get them as a kid, but the older I get the more I appreciate their music. Better late than never! Btw- what a great channel!
Jose. Dancing Days are here again!!! We REWIND to the days of How the West was WON! (Jose, if you shot the Sheriff, who shot the Deputy?). JCM has created another Led Zeppelin Documentary Masterpiece. This is the beginning of my favorite period of LZ. Lord only knows how much work and research that you did to put this together. I must really commend you on not only being an amazing musician but an amazing visual artist: The idea of how you created that amazing color palette for the opening (and parts of the doc) to match the design and tone of the HOUSES OF THE HOLY album art (designed by hipgnosis if i am not mistaken) is such an original and AWESOME idea. Great to see Bonzo alive and well (in a punch-up with Percy. LOL) Great job overall. Take a bow! Even a neglected Living Loving Maid deserves a moment in the spotlight before disappearing forever like Jimmy Page's beard after 1972 onwards.🤤
The Deputy haha, good one. I am honored by your words and appreciation of the color palette, that was the FIRST thing i worked on you know? The intro was the starting point. Glad to know it set the right tone hehe. It's funny how Jimmy talked about Living Loving Maid, i think he actually likes the song but has a complicated relationship with its LYRICS really, not sure who Plant was addressing there lol. Thank you for taking the time to watch this, it's been REAL fun editing these after the somewhat sad moments of Post Zepp 1980s. I will cover all of their albums, just balancing my day job duties to find room for it all :) Word of mouth recommendations have helped this channel tremendously. Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up! Have a great week!
Honestly, these are the complete highlight and pinnacle of my weekends!! You do an absolutely mind blowing examination and exploration of fact and detail! THANK YOU!!! Again it’s BRILLIANT!!!
That's so awesome Gary, thank you man! Editing these after the Post Zepp 80s and Celebration Day series has been FUN, i need to come back to a Zeppelin Album you know? Hope you dig parts 2 and 3. I will do another album after this for sure :) Have a great week!
Made in Japan is a great live album. You said it’s your favorite and I understand. I don’t no if u like Micheal Schenker? But UFO Strangers in the night I think is one the best sounding live albums and Micheal Schenker playing is some of my favorite and back in 1983 at 14 it made me want to play guitar and inspired me to start playing and I still can’t play his solos great. Rock Bottom on that album is one of my favorite guitar solos and MSG song into the arena is one of my favorite instrumental songs. I have magical memories of houses in the holy. I’ve first heard it in my teens and song remains the same is one of the best guitar intros etc. I can go on and on about this album through my life. They have been such a big part of my life and your documentary’s are so necessary so thank u 🙏🏻
Hey Richard, thanks for tuning in! I need to check that UFO live album. You see, any live albums that one listens to outside of teenage years, are hard to get stuck in one's mind you feel me? So it definitely takes a longer time nowadays for records to stick, now the ones that do...man...they're amazing. Will give that one more than one spin. I recommend West, Bruce and Laing's - Live N' Kickin' (1974). This Houses series i enjoyed making , QUITE A LOT. Have a great week!
This should be shown right after 'The song remains the same" at a DOLBY theater. just brilliant, and the best Zepp Documentary ever made. nice to be totally Zep refreshed* thank you.
That"s very kind of you Thanks!! I"ve never seen TSRTS at the theater, wish i can one day :) Thank you for watching. Hope you enjoy the content on this channel! Cheers.
Thank you for watching. Glad you liked the style., i take my time on the scripts to make sure the passion remains consistent :) Hope you enjoy the content on this channel! Cheers.
From one Led Zeppelin fan to another, you are truly a Zeppelin connoisseur. Your opening dialog is like lyrics to a Zeppelin album that was never releases until now. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you Bobster986! It's an honor to read a fellow Zeppfan! I take my time for the opening words to hopefully transmit the excitement and discovery of a record. Glad to know you felt this, i am working on a new script so this is great motivation! Stay tuned for Episode 2 next week, have a great weekend.
Awesome informative video! Thank you. Houses of the Holy is my favorite Zeppelin album. It’s one of those that can’t be played loud enough. Reminds me of summer. First time I heard it was my brother playing it on his 8-track boom box. Every song great , I was and am still hooked.
Rock and Roll Tom! It does sound like summer indeed. Killer tracks start fo finish! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Your documentaries really pierce through the very thick enigmatic image of led zeppelin. I understand them as people far more after watching your docs. These are gonna be much cherished by zep fans for a long time, assuming they don’t get pulled down. Thanks
Wow, i am Honored. If you understand them more as people, that has been my intent :) When i do my research i take the Zeppelin fandom away for a minute to understand them as human beings so your words mean a lot! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
This is an amazing job, bro I love listen to bootlegs and I’ve always thought that they must be used in Led Zeppelin documentaries like this, Led Zeppelin’s bootlegs are the best way to show the amazing power these guys had in their golden years, so thanks for sharing I will see the 3 episodes now 😅 best band ever
Sometimes you think you know Zep history, even if you know the tunes, and play them as a musician. Then you watch this! Also never before seen photos and handwritten album recording tracks! Thank you for posting. Great data for us Zep geeks...Bravo.
Thank you so much for watching John! From a Zepp fan to Zepp fans, it's all about celebrating the band's legacy. Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Huge Zep nerd. Your work is underrated for how in depth and factual it is. Lotta bs flyin around the zep especially when it comes to the recording of the albums. I’m impressed and and amazed by how deep your love for Zeppelin goes. I totally get your obsession with versions of ITTOD. I was the same way with copies of Presence. Good work as always.
Much appreciated! To know you are a Zep Nerd is an HONOR to read your comments Elim. From a Zepp fan to another, i salute you! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Another great episode. Loved all the info on No Quarter. Some of the live versions of this track are among the best live moments by any band in rock hostory IMO.
thank you for making this for us and sharing just how f-precious Zep were and how lucky we can immerse ourselves in what it was really about via your documentaries that literally takes into the Houses of the Holy, each time!!
Robert was like a pitcher who lost his fastball , but learned how to pitch rather than throw...he kept it going without that blazing fastball...respect to him for that
I don't have synesthesia, although I do associate music with certain mental images. I definitely agree with you here - this album did always sound "Orange" to me. It's an oddly logical way to describe it. Love your videos, man.
This is awesome man. As a prog & Zeppelin fanatic who's also a music teacher, I appreciate the detailed music references. And the song you recorded for the beginning of this video is badass. You're a really good guitarist.
Wow you are a music teacher, i am honored to have you on my channel really. I've made lots of coffee to edit these hehe. Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Thanks JCM for another great upload! I have always loved this album (never was sold on Dancin Days though) and it's so great hearing about all the context surrounding the band and seeing so many pictures from the same time period. Plant's voice was clearly going through some issue, which was what struck me most after purchasing the album as a teenager in the early eighties.
I hear you on Dancing Days, that song i think SOUNDS harsh on the ears. His voice here and PG was changing, Page must have been worried you know? Ironic that the band's instrumentalists were getting better and well, they had to deal with this curve ball. They did one hell of a job! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
What an amazing episode Jose! I admire his depth, knowledge and coherence. I love this series about LZ because unfortunately when I was born the band didn't exist anymore so I learn a lot about them. My love for Zepp is not casual: my dad was crazy about them (still is) and my uncle, a sound engineer, worked with the big names that performed at Tokyo Budokan including Zepp and was quite qualified to say that their sound was one of the best things he had ever heard. For me listening to Zeppelin was something normal but not forced, with time I learned to distinguish all the nuances and subtleties of their music and that's why my passion is always renewed. I am very happy to have found your channel, your work is the best reference for Zeppelin fans. Thanks! ❤🙏 I look forward to the next episode 😊
Wow, you come from a family of Zepp fans and connoisseurs, that's incredible. Your Uncle is so LUCKY, can't imagine how the band sounded on stage. Bands playing in Japan have always raised the standards of their performance, you can tell how much respect they had for the country. Thank you for your kind words, it encourages me to keep going for sure. Hope you have a great week yourself and stay tuned for parts 2 & 3 :)
"my uncle, a sound engineer, worked with the big names that performed at Tokyo Budokan..." woah! he was in the thick of this wave of talent that passed thru Japan early on. I'm wondering if he was onscene when Chicago first played Budokan '72? If so what were his musings on this band whose roots were heavily Prog/Classical/Jazz influenced? The great Terry Kath was still in fine form. If your uncle is still with us Marcia, you should interview him and capture his impressions while engineering the bands that went through Budokan. He holds history in his life's experiential toolbox. It should be documented. Then send it to JCM to save for posterity.
@@synchronicity1470 Unfortunately my uncle is no longer with us, he left us a few years ago. He probably worked at the Chicago show, I’ll ask my dad, who was a teen at that time and thanks to his older brother he watched everyone (or almost everyone) who performed at the Budokan. Without a doubt both lived a fascinating time in relation to music
The man Himself! Thanks so much Brian! We need to record a song one day, i can't get enough of your drumming snippets on IG! Hope you have a great week brother!
That live version of "The Ocean" on "The Song Remains The Same" is so great. I'm still amazed that it wasn't on the original release. Once again, great work here with all of the ultra-rare footage.
I agree....I never understood it either. It should have just been released as a 3 album set as their version of "Since I've been Loving You' is fantastic.
Thank YOU for noticing this one. It was an exciting find, i was like WAIT a minute...did Jimmy just play that? Thank you for watching. Hope you enjoy the content on this channel! Cheers.
You are doing this whole Zeppelin thang PROPER!! Great choice to cover the making of Houses ..and then if you cover the tour just as extensively...this will be one BEAST of a series. Cheers!!
I did my best Charles hehe. I will cover the 1973 Tour a bit more as i want to talk about All the songs you know? because not all of them are from Houses it was a real battle choosing what to talk about. I want to do the TSRTS album too so i will save it for later. Also, there's still time to make more videos about more topics. Good news is i am currently working a new script on another album.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Is it Physical Graffiti? If so....I can't wait. And the live album will be a MUST for you to cover. You can go extensively into what performances and edits are from what night etc etc ...kinda like what that website (I'm not sure if it"s still up) tried to do (The Garden tapes website). Have a good one!! Rock on...
Jose, you are doing something very special ❤. This is absolutely amazing. When you talk about how you started getting into zep it reminds me of when I started getting into zep and it brings back great memories. What an incredible tribute and celebration of the best friggin band ever!!! Thanks man!!!! Appreciate you!!!! Can’t wait for the next episode!!!!!!!
As always Matt, i thank SO MUCH for your constant support and kind words. Editing these has been SO MUCH FUN after the somewhat depressing vibes of the Post Zepp 80s story hehe. I will admit, it was a bit overwhelming at first, looking at how to tackle all the information on Houses. Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Yet another triumph, JCM! You provide us with so much excellent entertainment. I have recommended your channel to all of my music friends. The fever is spreading and the only cure is more Zep videos!!!
Wow, thanks! I appreciate it Brenden. I'm glad my bootleg collection has finally helped me, for years it's just been there you know? Hope you dig all the content here on my channel, cheers!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Your collection of studio jams is so cool, as well! After a hard day's work, I love to kick back and watch your Zeppelin content. I've got some catching up to do.
I remember first hearing, 'The Rain Song ' and thinking exactly the same as you did! As much as I love Stairway, the way the song evolves from the quiet, finger picked acoustic intro, to the crescendo of the Solo, and then, returning to the acoustic guitar to end the song. But, 'Tte Rain Song ' has all that, and more. From its open tuned DGCGCD guitar, Roberts lyrics, that describe the melancholy of love. It's a musical masterpiece!!
Thank you so much Vincent! Today we celebrate the mighty fifth album. We must play it loud and go back in time to 1973! Part 2 of the documentary premieres this Saturday April 1st!
Thank you for your effort as an Led Zeppelin fan for about 22 years I value your rigourous effort in documenting the band history is astounding ...Greetings from Honduras !!
Hey Adriana, so nice to read your comment. Thank you so much for your kind words and i hope my fandom makes your day better :) From a Zepp Fan to a Zepp fan i wish you a great week and please stay tuned for Parts 2 and 3. Hope you enjoy the previous videos on the band!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Thank You!! I will be looking forward for when you relaese part 2 and 3, in the mean time I will definetely watch the other videos on your channel .
I usually won’t even watch a Zeppelin doc because it’s usually the same old stuff. This is well made by someone who knows their stuff. Amazing info, thanks and I hope we will see one for every album! Subbed!
Hey StoneCole. Great nickname may i guess a reference to the great 3:16 Steve Austin? I am thankful you came across this project from a Zepp fan and musicians to the brotherhood of rock and roll. Hope you enjoy the content here. There"s a new video coming up April 22nd. Stay tuned :)
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories lol you know it. Love the content. Looking forward to more of it! I used to listen to the bootlegs a lot and it’s great to have moments from the live versions discussed. Reminded of the fun moments like when they covered the Woody Woodpecker theme in Central Park. Those were always the coolest things to me… Burn That Candle? Lol. Or when Plant asked the crowd for a Les Paul in early 69 at the Fillmore West I think? Pre Jimmy getting his from Walsh. I could just watch hours of dissecting live versions of songs and how they evolved. Haha
Haha yeah i used to have this boot conversations...by myself. Locally my musician friends were not that obsessed lol. But hey RUclips brings us Boot heads together. Man when did they play Woody Woodpecker??? I remember Plant asking for the LES PAUL, taking a small jab at Beck who was there lol.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories ah didn’t know Beck was there that went over my head. Woody Woodpecker was played in the middle of HMMT I believe and it was Central Park 1969 pretty certain. Always loved the crowd banter and all that stuff lol obsessed over it. I really focused on 69 when I was really into listening to them all the time.. the bass amp blowing up at the Fillmore? In 69 and they play through with Plant singing lyrics of equipment problems lol brilliant
Thanks for all this! For song remains the same, rain song & no quarter, as well as the ocean and dancing days, HOTH has always been my favorite LZ. Always been blown away that it is only the fifth-highest rated album-- I, II, IV and Physical Graffiti are ALL generally rated higher than this! This one's where its at as far as I'm concerned. I'm also into prog like Yes and Genesis. The jangly and full and super upbeat guitar of the opener, the tender atmospheric depth and lament turned ecstatic exaltation of the next one, and the mysterious key-grounded swirls and prog shifts of no quarter, all held together by a tight band with great sound and mixing. The production is smooth and my favorite. And then the variety! Its really refreshing to me. The general upbeat vibe and emotional and musical maturity. I also see orange, as well as green. In this case that fit with the atlantic cd being green and red!
Great Watch! No 'hit or miss' comments on Plants vocals from me; just always 'WOW!' especially when we know what it all involved and hear his vocal at the time in your documentary to be exactly where it needed to be! So with that 1% minor change a Great Documentary for 99% of the time :) Thank you!
Fair enough sir! Plant never lost his timbre and phrasing, he actually got better phrasing past 1975, but the high pitch range took a hit, he even acknowledge this on interviews in a way.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-StoriesExcellent research.I do research also. I just prefer the way (you rightly show and express) ACTUAL ROCK GODS managed, did it, and still did it. Great work JCM... this is one of those albums that grew on me over time. When I randomly chose the next Led Zeppelin album to buy when I was in my mid teens, the cover, along with the paper band that surrounded the cover was so intriguing. Different from anything else. The content of the album was also different from any Zep I had heard before, and it was in many ways because I cut my teeth on The Song Remains the Same and Physical Graffiti. Dancing Days in one of my favourites I like to play on guitar. Quirky chording, and the vocal melody over the top of it is just awesome. Just like your documentaries!
Hey Tom! Nice to read you! Very important you mentioned the paper band that surrounded the cover. Such an iconic part of the packaging. This is a timeless record indeed. Episode 2 premieres tomorrow! Hope you join us!
What he said..
Yeah

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Page posted this yesterday> The Seasons: ruclips.net/video/_n1Bxp-YfTs/видео.html
Muchas gracias por sintonizar :) Jones' take on Rachmaninoff is awesome, he was a musician's musician. Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
You sir, ROCK. You have done the most exhaustive and thorough research of Led Zeppelin I have ever encountered. AND your knowledge of specific bootleg recording is second to none. Thank you. Outstanding work, well done!
George Flaudas and Terey Keading have great knowledge as well. Love everything all these guys are doing.
Yes, it was a battlefield of greatness and emotions, times like these will never repeat. Thank you very much for watching!

My pleasure! This album proved their songwriting kept branching out, a brave move, so much more than Graffiti!
For sure these are great videos. These stories and information just wasn’t available back then. It’s nice to have a great complete story

Thank you very much Robert! Glad you enjoyed this retrospective. All of this a labor of love for music. Hope you enjoy parts 2 and 3!
Thank you Mr Crow! I appreciate your comment very much. Episode 2 is out now and the final installment Episode 3 premieres soon :)
Lawn cutting job as a kid 1973, I bought this album
😊
You are doing a fantastic thing for young musicians. They have a credible resource for learning about this music, the right way. Any time a student or group is assigned Zep from here on, they need to watch your videos. They are credible, not bias, and give resourceful explanations in thoughtful and historical relevance. I mean we cannot go back to the past, but thank you so much again for doing this to provide good insight and music education for young musicians. Thank you!
Wow, it's an honor you feel this way about this project. It's a labor of love and admiration for Led Zeppelin without being blinded by fandom.
Synesthesia... paint with sound... sounds like you should be a Porcupine Tree fan, especially of the album 'Up The Downstair'.
These are awesome! Thank you so much for making these.
My pleasure Mike. Thank you for watching! There's a new video series coming up in May!
No Sir thank you. Can't wait for your next video. Are u gonna do all the Zeppelin albums ? Hopefully so. Lol

Cheers ✌️
Your detail is fantastic, man. Well done.

Here is the Set List

You cross reference influences that are so obvious but ive never considered them. This is brilliant!
This comment means a lot. I love researching stuff on classic rock and i just had to mention it in here. :)
Well thought out.
Well researched.

JDM, I’m a new subscriber, Just Wow!! Awesome job your research, editing, narration and use of color. Simply amazing…
Thank you very much! Glad you found the channel. It's all a labor of admiration to the greatest band of the 70s :) Hope you enjoy the content!
My favorite Zep album. Excellent docs . thank you.
Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Excellent presentation, well thought out and orated, really good pace. Informative without being redundant.
Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate your comment Petey, really do. Long Live the Zepps!
Awesome ! And the background music super sick 🔥
Hey Frank! Glad you enjoyed this one brother!
"No Quarter" was the first Zep song I heard as a kid. That, along with seeing a poster of the band, made me a fan for life back in 1973.
A life changing moment man, i feel you. The song takes you places you've never been to right!
Robert was like a pitcher who lost his fastball , but learned how to pitch rather than throw...he kept it going without that blazing fastball...respect to him for that
His voice sounded better in a lower register
Great way to put it
This is a GREAT ANALOGY Michael! 100% Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Losing his voice is why they broke up
Did he lose the fastball during the Zeppelin years or after?
I don't have synesthesia, although I do associate music with certain mental images.
I definitely agree with you here - this album did always sound "Orange" to me. It's an oddly logical way to describe it.
Love your videos, man.
Yes the Orange sound is just there right? Thank you very much for watching!
Another amazing video!! Well done!
Great documentary. well done. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Andrew! Episode 2 is out now. The third and final installment premieres April 8th!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I'll look forward to ep. 3
My favorite album from Zeppelin. What a treat. Fantastic job!
Thank you so much for watching Jeremy!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories
Thank you Jose ❤ a great week for you too 😊
"my uncle, a sound engineer, worked with the big names that performed at Tokyo Budokan..." woah! he was in the thick of this wave of talent that passed thru Japan early on.
@@synchronicity1470
Unfortunately my uncle is no longer with us, he left us a few years ago. He probably worked at the Chicago show, I’ll ask my dad, who was a teen at that time and thanks to his older brother he watched everyone (or almost everyone) who performed at the Budokan. Without a doubt both lived a fascinating time in relation to music
Wow! What a surprise! Can’t may say this is my lovely album, but it’s my lovely band! Waiting for Saturday!
Great job!!!! Can t wait for the next episode !💥🔥🎉⚡️👍🏼
They also missed Communication Breakdown encore
Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
I agree....I never understood it either. It should have just been released as a 3 album set as their version of "Since I've been Loving You' is fantastic.
The TSRTS snippet in that live Dazed and Confused was sick! Thank you for sharing that.
Rock on...
This is really good work brother.
Really Really enjoying this
Glad you enjoy this series Adam! It was very fun to make, i was living in 1971-1973 for sure. :)
I wish I could have seen them in that Era. Amazing Thank you!
Thank you for watching! The final installment Episode 3 for Houses of fhe Holy premieres this coming Saturday April 8th
Brother, amazing work, especially setting the stage for the recording of the album! Excellent research!
Thank you so much for watching Chris! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Yet another triumph, JCM! You provide us with so much excellent entertainment. I have recommended your channel to all of my music friends. The fever is spreading and the only cure is more Zep videos!!!
Thank you Jason! I Appreciate your recommending my channel! This project keeps going, hope you enjoy my future episodes :)
JCM you are the best and most entertaining musical Led Zep historian out there. Bravo! EDIT: Your collection of bootlegs is amazing.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I've told all my friends to check out your channel
I remember first hearing, 'The Rain Song ' and thinking exactly the same as you did!
As much as I love Stairway, the way the song evolves from the quiet, finger picked acoustic intro, to the crescendo of the Solo, and then, returning to the acoustic guitar to end the song.
But, 'Tte Rain Song ' has all that, and more.
From its open tuned DGCGCD guitar, Roberts lyrics, that describe the melancholy of love.
It's a musical masterpiece!!
What a blast to watch man..🔥THNX very much
Thank you for watching Part 1 of the series! Part 2 premieres this Saturday April 1st!
This is a great video, thank you for sharing your talents.
I love this album. Thanks for this excellent video.

On this day March 28th 1973. release of houses of the Holy ! great job in the making and production of this video ! Rock on 🤘🏻😁
Thank you so much Vincent!
One word to you JCM, respect!
Thank you so much Samsara, hope you enjoy this 3 episode series on a great and an eclectic album such as this one! Long Live the Zepps!
Enjoyed doco informative articles I've never viewed before great work.
Awesome, much appreciated Marino! Thank you for watching! The final installment Episode 3 premieres this coming Saturday April 8th.

Thank you once again for another GREAT video ! :-)
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching! Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
Love the intro arrangement. Good job, Jose.
Honest Loved 95% of it.Thanks you T
