      Yes!
It's all about fossil fuel companies trying to maintain its monopoly against less costly, cleaner renewable energy. Power generation from renewable energy technologies is increasingly the lowest cost power. The most dramatic decline has been seen for solar PV generation; the cost of solar energy was 56% less than the fossil fuel-fired alternatives in 2023, having been 414% more expensive in 2010. Also in 2023, the cost of new onshore wind projects was 67% lower than the fossil fuel-fired alternative, having been 23% higher than the weighted average fossil fuel-fired equivalent in 2010.
The new renewable capacity added since 2000 is estimated to have reduced electricity sector fuel costs in 2023 by at least USD 409 billion, showcasing the benefits renewable power can provide in terms of energy security.

      FACT.
In 2023, Germany became a net importer of electricity for the first time since 2002.
Then they shut the Nuclear plants down in April 2023.
In the first half of 2024, Germany imported 6.3 TWh of electricity from France, which was the highest amount of electricity imported from any country.

There's also Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and all the other eco-loons who relentlessly and successfully campaigned against nuclear power in Britain who should have answer for the damage they caused to the environment. It's ironic that the French who told them to go take a running jump and built nuclear anyway have much lower emissions (and more reliable power) than the countries who listened to them.

@Flik_13 EVs need to use extra energy in winter to warm the battery (15-35°C) during charging and while being used. Interestingly for supercharging, TESLA heats the batteries to 45-48°C for max speed (supercharge V3) which is in the degrade danger zone for Li-Ion so I wonder how they get around that??

Net zero is an accounting trick. India and China can do all of this and still reach net zero. How? Because NET doesn't mean GROSS. NET means after you substract all the offsets.
So all India and China have to do is send some money to parts of the world with little to no carbon emissions in order to have them "offset" those carbon emissions (that is to say on their books india and chinas emissions where actually theirs). Spread that across enough places and everyone looks on paper like they have low emissions while emissions actually grow.
Net zero has always been a lie. It's a greenwashing scam to sell you products you don't want or need, and to gain support for higher prices. That's the entire point.
Plastic bags at the shops didn't magically change from single use to multiuse because they started charging for them. They were literally the same bags only now you had to pay for them. Now they've got rid of the plastic and want to sell you inferior paper bags for 25c to $1 each defending on the store which ironically means we're cutting down trees that could otherwise sequester carbon.
It's a huge lie that does nothing to benefit climate change.

I got my final invoice for electricity this year and I had to (literally!) sit down and breathe. Way over 15,000 Euros. That is just insane for a small shop. And that is only electricity for the shop. No heating, no A/C, nothing. Just basic lighting and the machines. Ten years ago I paid WAY less than half the money.
