Yes. They’re dumb as cow pie. I work with a guy who says we will have to move to an alternate planet because Earth will be dead. He doesn’t have a clue that the only planet in the solar system that is not NOW biologically dead, is planet Earth.
The UK stands upon massive coal reserves, despite thousands of years of extraction. To force Britain to become net zero is a madness that makes no sense.
But you have to realise that the coal will run out in a few thousand years time. This is why here in the UK we love to burn Bio waste, because this is a renewable energy. It don't matter that it pollutes the atmosphere more than coal, and it don't matter that we have to import it from the US and there is a huge carbon foot print shipping it to the UK.
Crude oil is one of earths naturally occurring resources as is copper lithium and cobalt, which incidentally is needed to produce the materials that make EVs like plastic and electronics not to mention the massive power transformers that need thousands of gallons of it, so figure that one out, without oil there will be no EVs
Even if half of the vehicles in the world would go electric, we'd only reduce our need for oil with just 10%. 50% of the world's vehicles going electric won't happend.
Net zero is an accounting trick. India and China can do all of this and still reach net zero. How? Because NET doesn't mean GROSS. NET means after you substract all the offsets. So all India and China have to do is send some money to parts of the world with little to no carbon emissions in order to have them "offset" those carbon emissions (that is to say on their books india and chinas emissions where actually theirs). Spread that across enough places and everyone looks on paper like they have low emissions while emissions actually grow. Net zero has always been a lie. It's a greenwashing scam to sell you products you don't want or need, and to gain support for higher prices. That's the entire point. Plastic bags at the shops didn't magically change from single use to multiuse because they started charging for them. They were literally the same bags only now you had to pay for them. Now they've got rid of the plastic and want to sell you inferior paper bags for 25c to $1 each defending on the store which ironically means we're cutting down trees that could otherwise sequester carbon. It's a huge lie that does nothing to benefit climate change.
And who do think started this nonsense, yep, the greens, clueless clowns, the greens are causing more harm to the planet with their policies, not one of them has any sort of intelligence.
Plastic bags never were single use. Today’s paper bags aren’t even single use. They tear by the time you get them in the car. And what moron thought unwaxed paper bags were a good idea in wet climates like the UK and NZ?

The same pressures that created these energy producing goods are still happening. As long as we don't use more than is being created we should be fine. Sadly we have no idea how much is produced over any given period of time.

I got my final invoice for electricity this year and I had to (literally!) sit down and breathe. Way over 15,000 Euros. That is just insane for a small shop. And that is only electricity for the shop. No heating, no A/C, nothing. Just basic lighting and the machines. Ten years ago I paid WAY less than half the money. I didn't heat my shop for the last four years or so because it is just impossible. It would cost (and that is no joke!) several hundreds of Euros PER DAY.

Net zero is an accounting trick. India and China can do all of this and still reach net zero. How? Because NET doesn't mean GROSS. NET means after you substract all the offsets.
