Being married and a father in the military, this song hits me right in the feels. I never know when I am going to have to leave them for months on end for whatever they have me doing. And it's not like I know I will always come back to them when it is all said and down. To have to be so far away for any given time is difficult. And I couldn't do it without my wife being as strong as she is.

This song was me and my wife's song during our deployment in afghanistan. She was in bagram and I was in kandahar every night before bed we would give each other a call and listen to this song together. It brings a lot of different memories to mind both good and bad but as I look back I see that we grew stronger together as a couple throughout the deployment. The day we reunited we listened to it and slow danced under the stars. Its a very true song that captures the emotions of separation of those in love. Not to mention the music is beautiful.

I feel like this song is dedicated to everyone that can't be with their families every day because of their work. For those who works in a another city, state or even a different country than the one they live in. For those who can't sit around a table and eat dinner every night with their families because they work to far away. For those who have to leave their families every now and then and can't be with them for a couple weeks, months or years because of their work. For example artists, actors, actresses, servicemen etc. because of their work they can't be with their loved ones, their families, every day. They can't be there watch their children grow up. We don't understand how hard it is to leave your families for a long time because of your work until you have to do it yourself. They don't work with those things just for themselves. They do it for us, for their fans, for their families, for our lives. I think that we should appreciate them a lot more because of the things they sacrifice for their families, friends and for all the people they don't even know (us). I think part of my soul would die because like I CANT MOSH IN FRONT OF A STUDENT! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CROWD SURF OVER SOME KID THAT I KNOW LIKE STRUGGLES WITH MATH BUT IS AWESOME AT ENGLISH OR WHATEVER?????? And oh god think about the next day in class! That would be so so so awkward. oh my god. The possibility of this happening is actual really terrifying for me... and like what about the student! They go home and be like "Mom! Guess who I saw tonight?! Ms._____!!!!" and then come parent teacher interviews it would be so awkward and oh my god. (I'm really sorry, I know this is completely off topic but the thought formed in my mind at the mention of age and i started typing and couldn't stop.)

I think I know the meaning behind this song. I believe that this singer of Memphis May Fire is away all the time and he misses his wife/girlfriend and he wants to come back home, however he also mentions that his fans and band members need him also. Kellin is like playing the part of the wife/girlfriend, telling him to carry on and be strong, especially the part when Kellin sings "if you miss me, I'm just a phone call away". It's a very emotional song, and sometimes I feel tearing up a little, but I love this song :)

i love love love this version. this song, really. even if it's not about fans/wives. moms and dads and family members it makes me feel the same. i sent this song to my mom, who lives on the other side of the globe, she's gone for a year or more before she comes back and when i heard this song the first few times i cried like a baby because it reminds me of the miss and hurt and i feel but i dont express. you keep the hurt bottled up and something like a song can bring it all out. even if this song isnt about parents it still gets me. a trophy fathers trophy son cant even make me feel like this, and that one is really relatable for me as well. just my opinion.

I think I know the meaning behind this song. I believe that this singer of Memphis May Fire is away all the time and he misses his wife/girlfriend and he wants to come back home, however he also mentions that his fans and band members need him also. Kellin is like playing the part of the wife/girlfriend, telling him to carry on and be strong, especially the part when Kellin sings "if you miss me, I'm just a phone call away". It's a very emotional song, and sometimes I feel tearing up a little, but I love this song :)
