The best visual metaphor ever (in my opinion) is a scene towards the end of the Pixar movie Up, when the old hero is sitting in the middle of his furniture as if he were sitting in the middle of the memories of his dead wife. He has reached his goal and seems to be falling asleep as if in his tomb. But when his young friend is in danger, he decides to go and help him. At that moment he has a new goal, but to leave he has to lighten up and thus throw out of the window all the old memories that weigh him down (and that don't matter anymore). This scene is in my opinion a masterpiece of visual metaphor.
Damn, I feel like I know what going to film school feels like now. It’s true. I don’t notice that stuff when I’m watching them but the best movies have them. It must be connecting with me subconsciously because there’s no doubt about it, they make the film a film. Weather I decode it into a dissertation or not.
Watch Terminator 2, there are so many, truly one of the best movies ever made. Schindler's list also has a lot, game of Thrones as well but too many are soured by having characters point them out or draw too much attention to like the dire Wolf being killed by a stag horn.
definitely. yiou're not even supposed to notice them, but subconsciously you're connecting the dots and feeling what the movie is supposed to be aobut or what that scene is trying to portray
@@EpicLightMedia This is symbolism. For example, the freud statute is a symbol for his career. Metaphor is a bit different. It compares an idea or an emotion with a visual representation.
