    Great sounding baby bass. I have an original Ampeg built by Jess Oliver. The KK has a great tone and character that is very true to the original Ampeg. Thanks for the vid.

    Thanks, Ed! Super cool. A while back, I ordered a G&L CLF research L-1000; asked for set up with light tension flats, they were out of stock, so, went to your site, found a mention of LaBella 760… flats; enjoying having this P-flat zone member in the family! Thanks again! (Been recording lots of 1910 German double bass, I don’t gig with, now need baby bass, ouch! Lol)…

    It sounds beautiful! A good way to play something like the double bass without the problems of its dimension.

    Hello. I recently added a 1965 Ampeg baby bass to my bass collection. I love it. I’d like to fatten up the sound a bit. Any suggestions?

    Hi Ed , are KK baby basses still available? Or, other good neo- 1:25 upright options?

    Hi Ed, thanks for that video, I've been emailing with Kris about one of those instruments and I'm very interested. RE the bridge modification, is that an option though KK, or would one send the bridge to Bruce Johnson, or is it DIY?

      Hey Rick! The bridge mod is now the standard on all KK Baby Basses.

    Hi Ed,
    I’m an electric bass player looking to move towards upright bass. Would I be at a disadvantage starting on a baby bass rather than the traditional bass?

    • @BassWhispererTV
      @BassWhispererTV  Год назад +1

      I think it's easier to play a traditional upright, the smaller body of the Baby makes it a little harder to get positioned on, if you're just learning, I'd start with the standard bass. But then again... that's my "legit" take. If you just want to pick it up and see what you can do... whatever.

      Much easier to amplify, move, take care of. The ‘real’ double bass might be important for classical, hard core jazz. Studio; generally the baby bass much more practical. I think

    Hey Ed, how’s that thing sound when you play arco? Does it sound nice or at least useable?
    Since the company is based in the UK, are there extra fees, customs dealings, etc. or anything else US buyers should know about when ordering?

    • @BassWhispererTV
      @BassWhispererTV  4 года назад +2

      Well, I don't even bring a bow with me on the road any more.... I leave that skill to the professionals. I've heard that it's possible to bow them, the arch of the bridge is fine, but I couldn't imagine liking the tone...As far as fees, ordering... talk to Kris at KK. info@baby-bass.com

    • @BassWhispererTV

      Totally different pickup design - which is the key to the Baby Bass tone, different body type/materials... They sound nothing alike!

      Well, KK Baby Bass makes a half-scale model, the KB2. Much easier to play for an electric bassist.

    Is there any problem with the holding of the instrument during playing? As far as I can see on this video bass has only 3 points to be in balance (two arms and the standing needle) versus 4-5 with an original acoustic double bass. According to the double bass technique, instrument should not be in balance using your arms, for this reasons there is the left knee and the chest to make instrument be standing even without arms. Why I’m asking it, because there are some models of electric double basses with additional pawls to recreate this essential places like in the full size instrument

    • @BassWhispererTV
      @BassWhispererTV  4 года назад

      Yeah, it's different than an upright. You can cradle it but then it's very close to the body. It doesn't balance like an upright, but I've found my way.
