    Good Luck!!
    *******
We continue our movie reaction journey of watching every Disney Animated Classic in order with The Three Caballeros.
The Three Caballero's premiered in Mexico City in 1944 and is the 7th movie in Disney's animated classic line up. It is most known for being the second movie from Walt Disney's "good neighbour" trip to South America and for introducing the world to Panchito Pistoles. Along with Jose Carioca and Donald Duck, they make up The Three Caballeros!
We are excited for this movie reaction as it's Ediz's first time watching The Three Caballeros. Do you think he actually enjoyed this Disney movie? However, Ben (being the Disney superfan that he is) has watched The Three Caballeros before, so he is ready with all the Disney movie facts and knowledge to share during this Disney Classic movie reaction.
We have now done a movie reaction for every movie in Disney's Golden Age, with Saludos Amigos being the first movie of the war time era of Disney movies, sometimes known as the package films. So make sure you hit that subscribe button so you don't miss any of these movie reactions and commentaries.
The next Disney Animated Classic movie reaction will be 1948’s Melody Time.

    Wiki:
The Three Caballeros is a 1944 American live-action/animated musical anthology film produced by Walt Disney and released by RKO Radio Pictures. The film premiered in Mexico City on December 21, 1944. It was released in the United States on February 3, 1945 and in the United Kingdom in March 1945. It was the 7th Walt Disney animated feature film, and it marks the 10th anniversary of Donald Duck and plots an adventure through parts of Latin America, combining live-action and animation. This is the second of the six package films released by Walt Disney Productions in the 1940s, following Saludos Amigos (1942). It is also notable for being one of the first feature-length films to incorporate traditional animation with live-action actors.[3]
The film is plotted as a series of self-contained segments, strung together by the device of Donald Duck opening birthday gifts from his Latin American friends. Several Latin American stars of the period appear, including singers Aurora Miranda (sister of Carmen Miranda) and Dora Luz, as well as singer and dancer Carmen Molina.
The film was produced as part of the studio's goodwill message for Latin America.[4] The film stars Donald Duck, who in the course of the film is joined by old friend José Carioca, the cigar-smoking parrot from Saludos Amigos, who represents Brazil, and later becomes friends with a pistol-packing rooster named Panchito Pistoles, who represents Mexico.
    Plot (IMDB):
A large box arrives for Donald on his birthday, three gifts inside. He unwraps one at a time, and each takes him on an adventure. The first is a movie projector with a film about the birds of South America; Donald watches two cartoons, one tells of a penguin who longs to live on a tropical isle and the other about a gaucho boy who hunts the wild ostrich. The second gift is a pop-up book about Brazil. Inside is Jose Carioca, who takes Donald to Brazil's Bahia for a mix of animation and live action: the two cartoon birds sing and dance with natives. The third gift is a piñata, accompanied by Panchito. A ride on a magic serape takes the three amigos singing and dancing across Mexico.

I'm from a very Mexican family and this movie is a cherished childhood memory of my older tias and tios. Whenever we're together one of them just has to sing the main song in Spanish. So needless to say they were very upset over the disclaimer that we are forced to read just when we're about to watch this on my Disney plus. A lot of them are wondering what's so offensive about it.

Hello, a Mexican here clarifying some doubts. This movie was part of my childhood along with other classics that I enjoyed on Betamax tapes, I have it well kept in my memories, it is like a little trip throughout Latin America, you learn a lot in a short time, especially at a young age. Seeing the 3 characters was like seeing 3 cousins, separated by borders, united, as used to happen when cousins from the United States came to visit and then party on.
Panchito Pistolas represents us very well as Mexicans, brave, happy and crazy party-goers, and even more so at that time, in the midst of the golden Mexican cinema, with so many cowboy films, machos bravos who moved sea and land for the hearts of their ladies, films with many classics songs, fulls of heart and drama. Also Panchito was used as the emblem of the Mexican air forces that fought in World War II.
Piñatas are used on birthdays, but they are also usually used at family Christmas posadas, since, after all, they celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus, and they usually come with holiday sweets and seasonal fruits.
The large instrument is a Jarocha Harp from Veracuz, and the characteristic music is a Son Jarocho, very typical of the state of Veracrúz; In Mexico, even though we all share Spanish, the culture is very diverse from region to region, something that perhaps they forgot to comment inside the movie.
Indeed, Mexico City was founded on an islet in Lake Texcoco in 1325 by the Mexicas (or Aztecs as they are also called) until then, the city was connected by canals and bridges, and upon the arrival of the Spanish people in 1521, The lake was filled in so that the entire area was livable, but because of that the city sinks a few centimeters per year.
I think the reason why Donald is so in love, must be because of the charms and strange spells that Latin American girls possess with which they captivate us all, haha, Greetings.

This is a film where I feel the parts outweigh it as a whole. A rough outline idea I have to fix it is:
more of a focus with the story by having Donald go on a goodwill ambassador trip to Mexico, Latin and South America and he meets up with José Carioca again (so it would be a continuation from Saludos Amigos) and the two go around various places like Baia and that segment with the live action stays the same, maybe have José tell Donald the story of the flying donkey and Pablo the penguin
they continue on their journey going into other countries meeting with other people and the two will meet up with Panchito Pistoles in Mexico and the song Three Caballeros will commence and the rest of the film will have them going to other places and the film will end with Donald going back to America saying goodbye to his friends and meeting back with the US government and giving them a report of his trip and that is how the film will begin as well in a combination of live action real government officials and an animated Donald Duck,

    • @EdizAndBen
      @EdizAndBen  Год назад +2

Ok first of all, these notes are excellent… if I ever perfect time travel (still working on it) I will go back to the early 1940s and personally deliver these notes to Walt.
Secondly, having Pablo the Penguin and the flying Donkey shorts narrated by Jose or Panchito would we actually solve so many issues with this movie. It would give it much more of a throughline- so that’s a great suggestion.
And finally having Donald Duck shake hands with the real US president at the time would have been iconic!! And would have cemented this as a huge piece of Disney history!
You need to get a job at Disney during the 1940’s!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

Piñatas are used in special occasions/birthdays AND christmas/new years. If used in special occasions/birthdays they can be any shape or form: a character, a heart, a football you name it... But in Christmas/new years they HAVE to be stars with seven spikes, at least traditionally. Every spike represents a capital sin and destroying the piñata means to conquer those sins and to start anew! At least thats what my family and I know about piñatas and how we use them :)
P.D. This was one of my favorite movies as a kid! I only watched it to see José and Panchito's segments though! And i also remember i was VERY confused as to why they were talking about posadas in what i thought was a summer/mexican independence day movie 😅

Now yes sure you can´t call the package films movies but some of the segments and ideas were great and luckly some were used later like The Three Caballeros. José got his own comic in Brasil which I have´t read but cracy to think about he is such an instant icon.
I loved your reaction, Ediz poor expressions when it just is´t for him and you Bens overjoy. Now sure I think Pablo is a slow segment but it gets way better once José enters the picture.

my neighbour growing up was a disney adult (in New Zealand which is more unusual) and she had an almost complete VHS collection of Disney classics (this was the late 90s) and the one she never had (apart from song of the south for obvious reasons) was Thre caballeros. I remember distinctly she managed to get hold of a pirated copy but wouldn't let me borrow it because she had finally watched it and thought it was a bit racist LOL
the behind the scene of this movie was super interesting, i read about the drama in a book about female animators at disney in the early days (there was like four of them over the span of like 35 years)

Your neighbour sounds legendary. Having every movie on Disney Plus somehow doesn’t equal having every Disney movie on VHS or DVD 😅
That book sounds interesting. There is a documentary about the South American trip on Disney Plus called Walt & El Grupo, but it’s a bit on the slow and boring side 😂 So it’s not a must watch but definitely has some interesting moments!

How was it racist? asking as a Mexican American.

hey, not trying to start a nuanced conversation around the depiction of cultures in pre 1970s disney films, especially since there are plenty of creators here and also in books and documentaries that cover it much better than I. Have a great day@@MrSophire

@@rebeccagibbs4128 I am not asking for anything in-depth, I saw the movie and I saw nothing racist about it. My family came from Mexico. I was born in America.

if you are unwilling to even google it or look to another creator, maybe one who is Mexican American, rather than demanding an answer from a Māori woman from Aotearoa in the pacific islands, then i guess you wont get the answers your demanding? @@MrSophire

29:41 it was still appropriate swimwear that was normalised. The bikini as we know it wouldn’t be become trendy until the 60s maybe the 50s?
Although we can see some 2-piece swimwear already here

I somehow missed this when it premiered, but I'm enjoying it now. Yes, it's a bit of a mish-mash, but a few sequences (including the one Ediz likes) are truly surrealistic. It's a little disturbing, though, how raunchily Donald Duck lusts after these human women. Which you know, because your title says it.

You kinda poorly explained why Donald Duck's birthday being Friday the 13th is fitting. Donald has notoriously TERRIBLE luck, and Friday the 13th is known to be the day of bad luck.
