Baby Girl Can't Hide Her Happiness at Hearing Her Sister's Voice for the First Time

- When this baby girl was born three months early, she developed an intestinal problem and the antibiotic she received for treatment impaired her hearing, her mom, Carol Benjamin, wrote on Facebook.
She’d thought Scarlet’s hearing was nonetheless pretty good, but the baby girl’s reaction when she was fitted with hearing aids showed it was anything but.
The adorable Scarlet just couldn’t contain her happiness when big sister Halie spoke to her for the first time after the fitting at Atlanta Hearing Associates in Milledgeville.
Scarlet’s spontaneous laughter is a joy to behold. It was “one of the absolute best days of our lives,” Benjamin said.

She was figuring out the laughing was coming from herself, then started testing what else she could do. Apparently she didn't like hearing herself scream lol

@@BNL07604 You are exactly right. After slowly losing my own hearing and having a stapendectomy ....the sounds were overwhelming at first. My husband picked me up from the hospital, he had the radio on and was talking to me meanwhile the noise of the tires on the road was rather loud and the combination was all too much. So with babies I say speak softly until their little brains ajust to the sounds.
A giggling infant has got to be one of the most joyful sounds on Earth. ❤️

For sure my son laughs when super stressed out scared. She looks happy then her voice scared her.
It was really sweet initially but it really did start to overwhelm her, didn’t it. You would think the health professional who fitted them would have explained something as urgent as this, or maybe the parents just forgot in the joy of the moment. Hopefully they remember how important this is in future, when we think of how too much noise can affect us even as adults who know what’s going on. Beautiful little girl though, what a wonderful blessing.

She was so excited but became a little overwhelmed at one point. Gentle voices for now big sister. It’s a lot for baby to get used to. How wonderful to see how happy she was.

Yeah, I would agree. I only really think about it when I’ve had my headphones up too loud and I’ve got tinnitus. I worry myself sometimes, because I’m already partially deaf in my right ear; I had ear infection after ear infection when I was a toddler. When I was 4, I stabbed a pen into my ear and tore clean through my eardrum. I should probably lay off listening to dubstep at full volume.
That and sight. I'm more scared of losing my sight than losing my hearing
