    Throughout the movie, Daesu always speaks in a weird way, not like a person in real life but like a character in the book(since he had no one to talk to except himself and his notebooks for 15 years). But when it comes to the realization that Mido is his daughter and he has to stop her from learning the truth, he starts to talk to her as if worrying dad tries to soothe his daughter. This always breaks my heart.

    Woo-jin's last revenge was for the man who let go of his sister's hand. Yes. for himself...

    Dae Su cuts his tongue and spit it on the water with green lighting. In Woo Jin’s flashback, Soo Ah is wearing red dress and fall to the reservoir full of green water. A lot of people get shocked by the storyline, they miss how beautiful this film is.

    Although Dae-su assumes that Soo-ah had fake pregnancy, the direction of the movie suggests that she was pregnant with a high chance. In the first scene when Dae-su pulls a tie of the guy who tried to commit suicide, the guy held a dog that is innocent. Similarly, in the Woo-jin’s flashback, Woo-jin holds a hand of Soo-ah who also tried to commit suicide. The dog in the first scene can be compared to Soo-ah’s baby that is also innocent.

    Strange thing to me that a filmmaker has no comment on the fact that the corridor fight scene lasted that long, was so INCREDIBLY well choreographed and filmed by the camera in a SINGLE TAKE with no cutting or editing whatsoever.

    I really enjoyed your filmmaker’s point of view. Shots and cinematographies.. Aside from the Greek Oedipus tragedy storyline and crazy actings, this movie also has superb stylish directing I think. I heard that Edgar Wright has been a very big fan of Park Chan-Wook for a long time, so that’s why their camera shots look alike I think.

    I hope you get to watch the rest of the trilogy. Korean movies have a certain feel to it, and you dont forget them. The emotional impact is on another level. A lot of black humour too.

      @@nathansreviews3377 A lot of their movies have the concept of Han in it. I suggest you look it up, its a very interesting concept/feeling and it explains why the movies are the way they are and the feelings that you feel: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_(cultural)

      Agreed, Irfan! That's the truth, man! I'm also a HUGE fan of the film "Memories of Murder" and a few others whose names I've forgotten sadly....I lived in S. Korea from 2003-2006 and was dating a few ladies there. One really gave me a great intro into watching Korean Films when she immediately suggested that if I loved movies, I see the film "Oldboy". That film remains in my top 5 of all time!

    the ant scenes you should google about... its something like symbolism from korea about psych/anxiety

    Watch the transition of the revenge throught this movie flew.
    1. WooJin -> DaeSu (for 15 years)
    2. DaeSu -> Woojin (after released)
    3. Woojin -> himself (suicide)
    Woojin revenged to DaeSu but after all he was the one who released his hand holding SooAh and was the origin problem of these happenings, so he finished his revenge by killing himself.

      Dang, shame to hear that. I quite enjoy most of Spike Lee's films, from what I've seen of him anyway. The only thing I saw of the remake was the one take fight which was nowhere near as good. The main character seemed way too much like a superhero.
