- 12/25/97: First post high school Christmas and 2 weeks out from a heartbreaking breakup.
Christmas Eve: I walk over to my friend's house, and we exchange gifts then I walk back home.
Christmas day: DVD was a brand-new technology at the time and most cinephiles were anti-DVD, pro-laserdisc (remember those days), anyway my big want for Christmas that year was a laserdisc player which I got (I ended up buying a DVD player 6 months later when it became clear laserdisc was a dying format).
Christmas night, my friends and I maintained our tradition of seeing a movie on Christmas night. The plan was to see 'American Werewolf in Paris' but it was sold out, so we saw 'Scream 2' again instead.

This is amazing! I love looking at old videos or anything back in our childhood days ❤❤❤
That bedroom. Wow.
The good old days... Books , movies and cd s
An insane Italian horror movie with a zombie fighting a shark. I like these guys.
This is great, thanks for sharing. We must have been around the same age...I was 17 about to turn 18 back then.
Merry Christmas! You can see the splinter in the eye
This guy was spoiled. 😂 I loved trainspotting ❤ I loved the Lost highway soundtrack back then.
Love to a kid into cool ass stuff, horror and music, really cool supporting parents 🤘🏽🧟♂️
At 10:27, little did we know that the man on that cover would become Obi-Wan two years later...
Dude your parents are the best
Ah, Trainspotting! Damn guuud movie!
Great video. I used to like to go to a movie on Christmas day too, because it was usually practically empty. That's not so much the case now
I am surprised this guy had vinyl in 1997. I didn't know that was a thing.
Vinyl was still popular with punk music at the time so most the vinyl I had was for punk bands.
Was that a Lookout records shirt I saw??? Friggin cool
indeed.
damn thats alot of gifts! merry xmas!
Titanic had only been in theaters for a week at this point.
yup, i saw it 2 days after this video was filmed.
@@mistah_whiskahs So cool to hear you guys talking about it so close to opening night - Most videos I've seen are in the midst of the Titanic mania - not often you hear people talk about it before it became the cultural phenomena - Not knowing how big the movie was about to be.
Ah yes the Edde release!
Aww fun! I don't have many home videos in the 90s at all, however, I do have Christmas of 97 at my great uncle and aunt's place. One of my uncle's recorded it. Do your parents still live in that house? That would be cool if you could go back there and film some to see what it looks like now.
Ghoti hook?!
MST3K let's go!
I can tell he's in high school but he looks so much older to me lol I can't tell if it's just me. Cause I was 7 in 97, so seeing someone dressed the way he is in that time period just triggers that part of my brain-if he's 16 here he's the same age as my older brother. In 1997 I remember getting Chumbawamba from my mom on cassette, micro-machine van city thing- and I think thats the year we got an N64.
I was just out of high school at the time. I think it's a generational thing because in the 90's I remember thinking 80's kids looked so much older than the kids of the 90's.
I agree @@mistah_whiskahs
@@mistah_whiskahs I read an article that said people seem older for their age because the fashion and surroundings are older.
Did you ever see the lost world Jurassic park in theaters in 1997 🧐🤔
Yup, first movie I saw after graduating high school.
That’s awesome I actually got a vhs tape of it on Monday
Scream 2 bootleg?
indeed.
@@mistah_whiskahs I need the Scream 3 opening footage. Youve left us in a long enough cliffhanger, me thinks.
@@cosmicurgency I'm in the process of editing that right now as a matter of fact.
@@mistah_whiskahs eeee!!
@@mistah_whiskahs That explains the google search because it woulda been impossible otherwise.
My god, looking at all these gifts makes me realize how much of a waste all this just stuff was. I dont even remember where 99% of that crap went.
Isn’t Ghoti hook a Christian band?
Yeah, they were a Christian pop-punk band at the time. The girl I was dating back then was into them.
Let me guess, you like the walking dead?
Eh, I liked the comics but I felt liked they messed up
the show.
