    Pavlova is different to a normal meringue in that the centre is supposed to be thick and soft and marshmallowy with just a thin crispy crust around the edge, so it really does work best if you make a big slab.

    The pancake balls are actually traditionally made with no filling (or maybe apples) and then eaten with icing sugar and jam on the side (like a dip) + gløgg (hot, spiced wine with almonds and raisins) as a drink!

    • @MsEenymeenymineymoe
      @MsEenymeenymineymoe 2 года назад +9

      I agree! Those were great meringue nests, but pavlova doesn't have the hollowed out middle part so it becomes marshmellow-y in the middle (and not a little, a LOTTLE).

    Hi Grace, my daughter was diagnosed with gluten intolerance in the summer, so this is our 1st Christmas of trying to find tasty baked goodies that are gluten free, maybe testing/ baking some free from festive treats would be a idea for a vlogmas video. X

    • @hannahk1306
      @hannahk1306 2 года назад +4

      If you want to make them yourself, from experience biscuits are the easiest to make gluten free without noticing the difference. But with anything you make just add a little xanthum gum to your gluten free flour to replace the gluten. Things like pastry tend to be stickier so roll it out between 2 sheets of cling film or baking paper instead of directly onto the worktop.
      If you're looking to buy them, Co-op and Tesco are normally quite good for free from stuff, but it depends on the store (and often store managers have little control over stock). Most supermarkets have a free from section though.
      Just watch out for products that slap the free from label on so they can charge more, but wouldn't usually contain the thing they're free from anyway.

    • @canaryblack1013
      @canaryblack1013 2 года назад +1

      Pavlova could be a good gluten free option, off the top of my head, and maybe macaroony biscuits as well [almond meal/coconut with egg whites, sugar, and some spices can be really nice]

    Hi Grace. Because you asked for video ideas might i suggest one? Christmas is a happy time for many of us but for some it is a time Of sorrow. Many of us come from a place of privilege and this time of year seems to be when we think about helping those who are less fortunate. I think one barrier is that they don’t always know where to start…..adopt. A family, angel tree tags, Christmas hampers, food banks and soup kitchens are all ways to answer the call of good citizenship. Your platform and beautiful kind spirit might help inspire viewers to do something extra for somebody who needs it this year….could you do a video that explores ways to help others please? I don’t often comment but I really enjoy your channel.

    13:55 "Honestly, being the youngest child you have so many things you have to to get over in your head" I felt that to my very core haha..I was a VERY gullible child and had 2 older sister's. They made me truly believe they were magic! One Christmas they secretly convinced the entire family to get in on one of their "magic tricks". They told me they were going to do one of their magic tricks on me, so I eagerly sat down to see what would happen (I was a very willing participant in these "magic tricks" may I add) I would close my eyes and they would say their magic words and puff a white cloud of talc powder in the air. This particular time they made me believe i could only hear them, nothing else. They got the whole family to mime conversations between each other, my dad even pretended to sing and play his guitar! I was absolutely convinced they were magic 🎩👏...hahaha turns out I was just quite gullible.

    Æbleskiver translates to "Apple slices" actually, because back in the day they had actual apple in them. The ones we buy in the store usually doesn´t - but when people make them themselves they sometimes do. We serve it with jam (raspberry or strawberry) and powdered sugar.

    Loving this! My aunt started doing Pavlova some years ago for Christmas. I quite like it. Acts as a "palate cleanser" for the richer deserts. VIDEO IDEA: You could also do a "different versions of x" from different countries. E.g. Rice pudding (there are so many different versions from different countries, with coconut or raisins or different spices or eggs) or apple pie (the US apple pie is quite different from the Dutch or French one). ;)

    Please try and make a gingerbread house! Either a store bought one and you try your best to decorate it or go all out and make the gingerbread itself too. I dunno how ambitious you wanna get. If you buy a store bought one, you might wanna buy two in case one of the cookies cracks in shipping.

    Also, it's already snowed up north here in Leeds, so stay hopeful! It may snow down south later on too :)

    Also a youngest child here. I got told the tiny black money spiders in the UK are actually venomous and that if you drank water after it had been sat around overnight you would die. So many terrifying moments growing up! 😬

    You talking about what jesse told you when you were five reminded me of when my brother told me that if I shower with water that's too hot the water heater would explode and the worry that this sentence had put in me was unreal
