Trudeau seen as “clown” after Canada House Speaker resigns over Nazi unit veteran tribute: Poilievre

  • Speaking in Ottawa on Thursday, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for a delayed apology, after House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota resigned for a Sept. 22 parliamentary tribute to a Ukrainian man who was revealed to have fought with a Nazi unit in the Second World War.
“The Prime Minister is seen as a clown on the world stage. But whether you blame him or the Liberal Speaker for recognizing a Nazi on the floor of the House of Commons, we all agree that it took him five days - five days - while he hid under a rock and let our reputation be torn to tatters,” Poilievre said.
Government House Leader Karina Gould responded by defending Trudeau, saying, “Every member of Parliament actually recognized that it was the Speaker's responsibility, that's why they called upon him to resign and that's why he did resign.”
After the question period, interim House Speaker Louis Plamondon stepped up to thank the MPS for their “unanimous support” and “the honour of being acting speaker for five days.” Conservative MP Andrew Scheer joked that he hoped Plamondon’s tenure will be “smooth” even though it “won’t be long,” while Gould congratulated Plamondon on his temporary appointment.

A coalition government (or a minority govt) as we currently have is indicative of the LACK of love for a particular party in govt, while also recognizing that the democratic insisttution requires participants.
The best way to overcome the libearls is to present MORE political options into the mix, and then we could see the liberal stronghold collapse and disappear.. Ideally, we are replacing with strong principled parties, that are not as wishy washy on the moral issues, and are open to honest debate and good working relationship with each other in the House of Commons.
I doubt we will see it in our lifetime, but we can push for concensus type government, elected Senate, and more "going to the people" with plebescites and referendums that have teeth, and lead to moral and ethical decisions being made. Asking the right questions is ask much a part of the challenge as is voting on the questions.
I feel that Canasdians need to give the governor general more p owers to remove a head of state who is failing and causing abject misery for the country politically. Our relationship with the Crown/The King of England, should be a protection for the people. It also shows taht Canada is still young and immatrue politically, and that our education system neesd to be far more robust and teaching of history and politics to the young must be done better. Erasing history is not an option, and we need to respoect those who study history and learn from it and can speak truth to power. It is becomign very important that those in power are not ingnoring the wisdom around them. Mr. Trudeau is a foolish man; he does not know how to listen to good counsel; this is the sign of both corruption and evil. It's unfortunate we have to live with this situation for this period of time. We can do better of course. We don't have to bow down to him.

No it isn't. The teaching moment is how hysterical and unreasonable the mob becomes when misinformed and stoked by a hateful press and hateful people. A special Deschênes commission was set up, which studied this issue and came to the following conclusions: "- participation in the Galicia Division itself is not a sufficient basis for persecution; - All members of the division have been vetted before emigrating to Canada; - Accusations of war crimes against the Galicia Division have not been proven; "There is no basis for the revocation of Canadian citizenship and the deportation of former members of the Division." Theses about its involvement in mass crimes against the Polish or Jewish population, which are now voiced by politicians or the media, are nothing more than an echo of Soviet propaganda.
The Galicia division was also investigated at Nuremberg and cleared of all accusations.
The documents Soviets supplied that accused the members of the Galicia division were so poorly faked that it was not only laughable but pathetic.
The Galicia division was akin to a division form the French Foreign Legion. It was a battle group and not a political group. It had nothing to do with the German SS. No one in it was a Nazi or even knew the ideology. Some were as young as 14. It committed no atrocities. It was formed in the late summer of 1943, two years after Babi Yar yet the Holocaust Industry accuses them of participation in the extermination of Jews. Impossible!. Ukraine was a stateless nation, no government, no police and no army. It had just lost 7 million people to forced starvation at the hands of the Russian Soviets. Stalin was worse than Hitler. Ukrainians that wanted to make sure that Stalin would not return had to fight the Red Army and the only way the peasants in Galicia could do so is to ask the Germans to arm them. It's that simple. Anything else is a lie and fabricated. In fact the condemnation of this innocent man follows the techniques of the Gestapo and the KGB in dishonouring and convicting innocent victims. Today Canada is also Nazi. Shame.

Trudeau and Zelensky knew perfectly well who they were applauding. Anyone who is introduced as a Ukrainian "hero" who "fought against the Russians during WWIl" is almost by default someone who fought in Ukrainian Waffen SS Galicina Division. At the very least, he should be highly suspect. To those who might not know, this was a unit of Ukrainians who swore their direct allegiance to the fuhrer in Germany. They are directly responsible for the murders of countless thousands of Russians, Jews, Ukrainians, Poles and other ethnic groups. Trudeau and Zelensky are well aware of this dark spot in Ukrainian history, yet they enthusiastically fist pumped this war criminal.

The RCMP are independent of the PMO and so are Global Affairs Canada and the Liberal Party Council (not sure which Purty council you speak of) The protocol office is kind of like the janitors. They go about their business and deal with security as janitors deal with cleaning a building. In this case they weren't on top of things and dropped the ball as did the former speaker of the House. Had Protocol been on the ball chances are the Speaker and eventually the Prime Minister would have been informed that Hunka was not a candidate for the list. You are barking up the wrong tree when you try to link Trudeau with the failures of a security office. That isn't his job. He is not responsible for security at events. There are others who are tasked with that responsibility.

He even personally exposed Zelensky for the Nazi he is. He had them all give him an ovation. Hence, Mr. Hunka, even at 98 years of age, is a super-soldier. Even if he was involved in WWII war crimes, he atoned with this incredible act of exposing the war criminals in our government. What he did was actually better than The 20 July Plot to assassinate Hitler. Justly, Mr. Hunka should not be extradited to Poland, but instead be awared the Order of Canada for what he did here.

There was just one hour of discussion at the trade committee, no vote in Parliament, and no public consultations on the deal.

While *Team China* can play anywhere on Canadian ice, can appeal referee calls it dislikes and negotiate compensation for damages while in the penalty box *behind closed doors.*

Orban has hijacked public institutions, attacked the independence of courts, and left almost no independent media standing. He has criminalized basic democratic activities by civil society organizations, attacked the rights of LGBT and transgender people, and banned same-sex unions.
      - Poilievre's old boss is now directly involved with a company selling the latest surveillance systems to *Saudi Arabia* and other ruthless authoritarian regimes in the Middle East - a company that has been *blacklisted by the US* in an effort to "stem the *proliferation of digital tools used for repression.”*
      - Conservative Politicians including Andrew Scheer have been in documented meetings with *Mike Roman*, a *Trump MAGA* Whitehouse & Koch Industries operative. Mike Roman was subpoenaed by the Jan 6th Committee for his role in organizing the Trump campaign's fake elector scheme to negate the 2020 election results. He also had his phone seized by the Dept of Justice as part of the Select Committee's investigation into the Jan 6 attack on the US Capital. Now *Mike Roman is one of the 18 other defendants along with Trump, charged with felony racketeering (RICO) and numerous conspiracy charges in the 41-count indictment in Georgia.*
