At 4:16 I'm thinking... twist it side to side slowly, while at the same time slowly pulling it out. Then same while pushing it in, see see if some resistance. Be interesting to see if I'm right. Couldn't you just open the bottom, screw the stick in with the mechanism outside the sleeve and then put it in again in the "assembled" condition? Not hard to reassemble at all :P
