POINT 24 ? if we have only one gyro... off course mean difference between set gyro course in autopilot and true gyro course which vessel is steering.. if vessel steering gear fail to maintain set gyro course ..this alarm sound.. at anchor or at berth putt on auto pilot and increase or decrease set gyro course widely .. alarm will sound depend upon what value you put in.. ie 15 or 20 degree .. depand on weather or current..
Vikas, while steering gear checks it is understood that you tried out using individual steering motors and using parallel. Could you pls explain what do you mean by System 1 and System 2? Is it to be referred as pwr from AC & DC supply
So the answer is "CALCULATED UKC", it depends on company policy, earlier alarm was supposed to be set on "Min UKC required" but now the alarm has to be set by CALCULCATED UKC, which takes into account of all the factors like tide, density of water, minimum charted depth , heel , roll etc.
@@SailorVikas what is the difference between calculated UKc and minimum UKc., I mean for both it should be minimum value so that the vsl does not run aground is it?
Hats off to your efforts for us, It's very informative and helpful 🙏🙏. I think Gross under keel clearance is considered for echo sounder depth setting. And legends calculating compass error at 34.23 😂.

Btw i must mention sir!! U hv done a great job. Actually this is what i was looking for since long time. Sir one humble request please make a video on taking over watch and duties of OOW prior pilot boarding and during pilotage.
Sir i had a doubt....the M/E blowthrough is it supposed to be done after giving the 1 hr notice to E/R? and is the shore gangway supposed to be picked up only then is it supposed to be done?
Yes,1 hr notice to Engine room means they have to prepare engines and keep it ready in approximate 1hr time. Their have been cases where engine movements have been given and because engines didn't react appropriately, ship moved few meters causing ropes to part and shore gangways getting damaged, thus as a good practice Capt normally advises duty officer to do blow thru after confirming that shore gangway is clear. In ME blow thru their is no fuel injection, but propeller does rotate at slow speed, thus as a matter of safe practice it is done so. 🙂
1)Can we select trail and vector Both true / or both relative 2)Is is important that if trails are true then vector is relative And vice versa . 3)Why you select on ground stabilise mode Trails true and vector relative on ground stabilise . 4) can we use the same true trails and relative vector on collision avoidance . Thanks alot sir .
1. Yes 2. Their is no compulsory rule, but true trails and relative vector is best combination. I have explained the reason in my radar videos. 3. When vessel is at anchor, it is made fast to ground basically ...so in radar we put ground stabilised mode to see ground moment of our vessel to know it's maintaining position or not. Trails and vector has least role when u are at anchor....however one radar u must keep with relative trails to know if any ship closing towards u which I kept on S band radar. 4. Yes, True trails and relative vector is best combination for collision avoidance. As I have already explained this in my Radar videos 🎯
Because you have to check that rudder moves from hard on one side to 30 deg on other side within 28s which is solas regulation so u have to comply with it
Yes we reduce speed, do hardover to hardover as well as we try out engines ahead and Astern. Yes you have to test all this in safe waters clear of traffic and before entering TSS if any
This is based on calculations which we do in software provided to us by company, for calculations various factors are taken into account like depth of water, tide, draft, density, catzoc and distance from nearest land.
Test propulsion means trying out Main engine, first engineers will blow thru from Engine room, once all ok, they will give controls of main engine to bridge and than bridge can try out the Main engine. ( To be tried out after checking propeller clearance and shore/ship gangway is clear of jetty )
