Every video game is suppose to do three things. 1. Look good: From their character designs to environments. 2. Sound good: From the sound of voices, attacks and the soundtrack. 3. Play good: Responsive Controls. Intuitive Design. And 60 fps. Stellar Blade gets a S Tier Grade in all of these categories. And it plays at 1440p 60 fps in Prioritize Performance Mode. Which is incredible!
As a straight woman I’m so stoked to play a kick ass, stunning protagonist! Maybe I like fan service? So what! Do I want to play a game as a 90 year old man? Maybe, but I won’t have as much fun. Curious to see how her boob physics are 😂
I preordered the game sight unseen when the chatter hit the fan against ShiftUp and Eve's model being unrealistic despite being a body scan of a MODEL. The more I see of the game the more I'm excited to play it! Also bought Tekken 8 for the same reason and I've loved playing it as well!
Remember - fit attractive women (or men for that matter) can't possibly actually be a real potentially obtainable body type or all the people who don't take care of themselves will have to face an ugly truth
i was completely disinterested in stellar blade for the longest time ever until the absolute deluge of game journalist hate became an inescapable occurrence so i pre ordered the game and have genuinely enjoyed every moment of it i've played so far =))
As an old school PC gamer the very first thing I do when launching a new game is to go through all the settings and options to see what I can change. This is a habit I think every gamer should inhibit for their convenience. That is how I knew about auto loot and didn't have to deal with motion blur nor camera shake from the get-go.
Also "How to pick up items?". What is this guy saying? This is not a game where you have to press certain button to pick things up. You just pass over them and that's it. Why did he need instructions for something like that?
Dude, just listening to your video in the background, I am loving the war cries that Eve is making while you slay your enemies. That’s something I haven’t really seen in a game like this before. I’ve only heard grunts and cries in a couple arcade style fighting games, mostly when taking damage, not doing damage. Awesome! 👏🏼
Best review I heard yet, and I watched a LOT of videos. You didn't talk about the amazing music though, made by the same composer as Nier. I bought a new Sony TV last month, and a PS5 in 2 weeks, ONLY for this game first.
I prefer the skill tree over just leveling up a stat. Adding more to ur kit rather than just altering a number is my type of thing. Also I think an option should be added to the main menu once you beat the game the first time to enable/disable first cutscene view skip
The world was meh, seen it before. But an attractive protag was just icing on the cake honestly, that aspect pales in comparison to its enemy designs and soundtrack which were both fantastic.
It tells you immediately too, can also skip cutscenes, just not a very small part of them. Seems like he just wants to find stuff to complain about honestly 😅
I hope there's button mapping or alternate control schemes like Rise of the Ronin or Ghost of Tsushima. I want to put my attacks and parry on the triggers like a Souls game.
Excellent review, but I beg to differ on one important point... I am a lifelong Xbox user, and only just recently bought a PS5 specifically for this game. As such, I found it very difficult to get used to the combat... so much so that I restarted the demo and set it to Story Mode, and guess what? It was still difficult for me! LOL However, I did quite a bit of training and am now finally beginning to feel like I can actually play the game and have fun doing so. Parrying is absolutely ESSENTIAL to playing this game! I found dodging and movement a bit limited compared to what I'm used to, so I had to learn to stand toe to toe and parry my enemies so as to power up my offensive strength. It is most often the best way to defeat them. As you said, the combat is astoundingly great, layered, and satisfying. Shift Up have created a masterpiece that will be replayed over and over for years. I can only imagine how good some players will get. I won't be one of them, but I certainly will be far better than I am now. I look forward to that day with great anticipation! LOL One last thing, I was NOT at all happy about losing Tachy. I'm hoping she somehow gets a reboot or fix. Also, I can't wait to meet Lilly and the other human survivors. A story and lore that's an equal to the combat would be welcome indeed!
I'll be playing on normal. I've been a ps user for a while tho. I found dodging to be much less effective than parrying. Maybe it's just me but there's not much of a window to dodge attacks. In God of war, you can usually dodge one way or another and be fine but in stellar blade, you've got a very small dodge window. Also, the enemy he's talking about with the shield hand, there's a move it does where it grabs and slams you. There's absolutely no way to dodge that while dodging left or right. In fact, I don't think there's a way to dodge it at all if you're too close to him. You also can't parry it. That's a little annoying. Otherwise, he's mostly easy as he doesn't do that move much.
@@michaelfox8802 There is a certain skill you get later before fight the last boss on the demo that works to avoid the attack of the shield guy but even without it i found him pretty easy and i was playing with normal difficulty and skin suit that has no shield so the harder mode you can play currently. The trick is to simply parry him every time and when he does that grappin move you see a blue light cycle so you just run away from it.
After watching the reveal video that released 4 years ago as Project Eve I thought this looks different but it was not until the combat video was released a year later in 2021 showing the Stalker combat that really got me interested. It is the same stalker boss challenge in the demo but the hud and Eve looked a bit different. The demo showed me that Stellar Blade is a competent game with beautiful art direction, immersive cityscape, challenging and stylised combat and superb music which happens to have sexy characters.
The easy mode argument is dumb. Its great that you feel you don't need it so does having a mode you and others wont normally use really take away from you experience?i don't engage with ultra hard modes but im glad its there for people who want it. On top of it there are new People just getting into the games for the first time and they will find a game even on easy challenging so nothing is lost for anyone. I know there's arguments to be made for certain games like metroid or zelda but even those games wouldn't be ruined for me because someone didn't play on my difficultly.
Been rinse and repeating the demo since it came out. As a fan of Nier Automata it seems pretty solid based on what I’ve seen so far. Some sekiro vibes there as well but it’s definitely inspired by Nier Automata. Similar female driven story, apocalyptic world etc. Definitely on my play list this year.
I get the feeling the story is gonna be blah. Nothing like nier. The combat in stellar blade looks sluggish and clunky. It needs buttery smooth gameplay for me to care, combat is very important. Bloodborne, darksouls3 and sekiro all have better combat then stellar blade
if you dont want to watch this vid i will answer the question, i forgot about all sex appeal once i started fighting tough shit with sick move sets, game is amazing in everything, sex appeal visuals combat and enemy bosses and design and environment, fan service is absolutely on point more games need to take this direction honestly. I am so glad to hear that square and triangle are the attack buttons. I am so tired of games now wanting to "be souls-like" and have the attack buttons be shoulder buttons.... and you CANNOT change them. GOW and the sequel had my blood boiling with this, as after playing for hours, I would still suddenly start pushing square trying to do light attacks, because it's been ingrained into my brain for the last twenty years.

Personally I really like the demo, control's feel responsive and interesting world. Can't wait to dive into the full game. Respectfully, I have to disagree about the difficultly. I'm a gamer with a disability and firmly believe that what is difficult or easy depends on the capabilities of the player. Glad they included an accessibility section too. I did finally beat the bonus boss but it pushed my fine motor skills to the limit. Took me way more than 2 attempts. For me personally story mode and accessibility are big selling points. I say, as long as you enjoy it, then it's not a disservice. Can't wait for the 26th.
There is nothing wrong with fanservice as long as it doesn't undermine the plot, for example, having a very serious and powerful moment in the story immediately followed by a panty-shot or something. Sexuality, at least in Western societies, tends to only be viewed negatively, especially when it comes to women. You either have side A saying that women need to cover up and 'be modest' or you have side B saying that any woman portrayed as attractive or sexual is strictly for the enjoyment of men. Very few people talk about how humans are naturally sexual and how sex positivity (the ideology working towards cultural acceptance, respect and normalization of our bodies, what we do, or don't do with them, the gender spectrum, and our personal orientation) has been largely beneficial to peoples' mental and physical health. Or how depicting sex and sexuality in artwork has been a part of human society for thousands of years. We should focus on acceptance and move towards positive portrayals and education rather than shaming people for their bodies or showing interest in a very natural part of life.

I had seen trailers of this, I thought it was pc, now that I know it is available on PlayStation, and you have given it the OK, I probably will try it. Hopefully it’s not too difficult. I like a challenge, but also don’t like to be frustrated, hanging out at bosses for three days. Thank you.
Solid game, yes, is it worth the full premium price.....nah, but then again, very few games coming out in the $70 premium era are actually worth buying them on launch.
Adding this to my list of PS5 games that I’ll play eventually. But I doubt I’ll watch someone play until I am ready to play. Just no time. Enjoying Helldivers 2 right now and neglecting Dragon's Dogma 2. And once Shadow of the Erdtree drops it’s all over.
If it comes out on PC I'm buying it at full price for the game play, the story, and the curves. But mostly for the salt. I'll be one of those if they want. Give em what they ask for. 😮
Nier Automata is probably my favorite game ever, but I’m more than okay with a game reminding me of it. Stellar Blade is so sick, I’m genuinely looking forward to when this game comes out
Shift up Co. that made Stellar Blade, unfairly dismisses a female employee for posting about women's rights on Twitter but Shift up had no restrictions The game shows Korean men's sexual fantasy through body suits, blood, and obscene poses This game shows the reality of women's rights in Korea
It's weird that men feel so guilty about accepting that they like attractive women in their means of entertainment. It's also weird that you have a lot of feminists get angry when men enjoy a product.
The 'easy' mode is very similar to FF16 where it's for story & lore enjoyers. I think it can still be difficult if the player doesn't get a hang of the mechanics. FF16 version is more or less for non-action game players to get a feel of the combat & i think the easy mode in Stellar Blade will work similarly.
This is a deeply average game of the genre, it's fine but peppered with endless irritations, clunky controls and the dialogue is atrocious. It's an ok package overall, but thats all it is - must admit moment you said "the controls are crisp" I let out an actual laugh.
I can easily see this game outselling Helldivers 2 based on the character design, the gaming and the lore. This game appeals to the core audience in a way that game doesn’t.
To answer the title… Not horny just disappointed in the censorship. Game is great but outfits were ruined and Blood. I love fashion and I get inspired by others art designs. But to change their designs just to cover up parts of Eve whoever made Shiftup do that is disrespectful…. Shiftup has lot of potential too.
I played the demo and I hated it. Too much combat, it enough story, and I hated when the action paused when a tutorial box popped up. Games shouldn’t give you info in this way, I’m trying to press buttons to kill things, do not pop up text at this moment. The way they introduced information is terrible.
The fact that the poplularity of this game is gonna trigger a certain type is just chef's kiss. It's painful when one realizes that others are going to act by their nature(do what they do) regardless of what one thinks or feels. If they want to make it politically incorrect for us to enjoy this game, then I'll be petty and enjoy the heck out of it as an act of political defiance.
At first you see the Eve and think "hmm, nice woman", but then the game starts and that's the last thing you'll concentrate on. The enemy and enviornment designs, the gameplay, the story, all of that is much better than just a nice body.
Funny opening, but it does bring up some of the current "non-troversy". I don't really see how this is any different than say, Bayonetta so why is there an issue with the sexiness with some people? Some people today are too hung up on their holier-than-thou judgmental attitudes and they need to get over themselves! 😆
The game is good as far as the demo goes. These developers are smart. They see the crap going on her in the west they hear what gamers are complaining about and are capitalizing on it. Theyre gonna make a lot of money.
If this game released 10 years ago no one would have cared about the character design, at least no one outside of a very small bubble of highly ideological and terminally online intersectional feminists. However, now that ideology of those intersectional feminists has just become mainstream leftism. Not every female character in a video game needs to look like MJ from spiderman 2 or the new Fable chick. Having an attractive female as a main character in a video game really shouldn't be controversial at all. The fact that it has been this controversial just goes to ahow how far the pendulum has swung over the past decade or so.
When exactly did fan service become a bad thing? For real. And why is the female form considered fan service? I’m pretty sure it’s been appreciated for much longer than we’ve been alive, and sex has existed since the beginning of time. We didn’t invent it and we don’t need to shame it. Love you Dom
I don’t understand where all this horniness accusations keep coming from in the gaming community . I’m a gay man who loves the game and recognizes it as a highly stylistic and aesthetic product. Eve looks amazing. God forbid we have a beautiful game with a gorgeous protagonist and even more gorgeous soundtrack.
I will take out a second mortgage and clear my bank account to bet that -Temu Nier: Automata- Stellar Blade will fall out of relevancy faster than Atomic Heart.
I generally don't like games enough to finish them. And the adult i am doesn't get anything by beating a game. Accomplishment is reserved for paying the mortgage and taxes and not doing hobbies
One fact is that beautiful women in games are ALWAYS used for marketing and making money. What is better, a game cover with a beautiful woman like Eve or a woke and fat woman? Its clear. Btw the games who make make the most money are based on showing and advertising beautiful, cute and hot women. There even are women who like that kind of stuff and they are not lesbian only :D
This game looks great and seems to have decent gameplay. However, it has to have a good story and an interesting world! Not that I would pay 70 for it.
As a man, how did you become so weak-willed that you let someone talk you into the idea that sexy, good looking women = bad? This attitude is so contrary to nature, I'll never understand how it took root. Eve is hot, this game is great, and that's that.
You don't have to hat that youy love this game. The demo, is fantastic. Awesome combat so far and maazing graphics and I did get a big boner when I fired it up inthe intro. @@FelisImpurrator
It's definitely less horny in the west overall at least as far as AAA titles go.
It is actually a fun game. The high culture aesthetic aren’t enough alone for me to buy it for $70. Buying day one.
The combat in this game is fantastic. The boss battle in the demo was everything I want in a boss battle. So much fun. Can’t wait
I had seen trailers of this, I thought it was pc, now that I know it is available on PlayStation, and you have given it the OK, I probably will try it. Hopefully it’s not too difficult. I like a challenge, but also don’t like to be frustrated, hanging out at bosses for three days. Thank you.
I didn't really like the game play for god of war 2018, but I loved the story so I completed the game.
I am sure people have said that you can skip cut scenes in NG+
we loved Tomb Raider back in the day because we loved the cannons but also the game was badass. same with Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
it needs to be franchised. stellar blade 10 sounds good.
Solid game, yes, is it worth the full premium price.....nah, but then again, very few games coming out in the $70 premium era are actually worth buying them on launch.
The mods are gonna be craazy
Adding this to my list of PS5 games that I’ll play eventually. But I doubt I’ll watch someone play until I am ready to play. Just no time. Enjoying Helldivers 2 right now and neglecting Dragon's Dogma 2. And once Shadow of the Erdtree drops it’s all over.
I laugh if the reviews aren't great but will see hopefully it will sale well
liking a beautiful women doesn't mean you're horny , people need to grow up sounds like projecting to me
I think Easy Mode is only there to fulfill Sony's accessability rules.
This was the base game quality and fanservice back in early 2010s
That's definitely an engaging title hahahaha!
You want a game that is provocative try the Chainsaw Cheerleader zombie game.
Lollipop Chainsaw
@@jondoe7036 Yup
If it comes out on PC I'm buying it at full price for the game play, the story, and the curves. But mostly for the salt. I'll be one of those if they want. Give em what they ask for. 😮
Nier Automata is probably my favorite game ever, but I’m more than okay with a game reminding me of it. Stellar Blade is so sick, I’m genuinely looking forward to when this game comes out
I honestly thought it was a lot of fun.
I pre-ordered first day, hell it was in my wishlist for months before pre-orders was available
Shift up Co. that made Stellar Blade, unfairly dismisses a female employee for posting about women's rights on Twitter but Shift up had no restrictions
The game shows Korean men's sexual fantasy through body suits, blood, and obscene poses
This game shows the reality of women's rights in Korea
Thank you, you gave what IGN didn't bother to do, an honest review.
Isn’t “fan service” also known as serving the customers, in other words - good business ??
My wife wants me to get the game so I said I guess so. Already pre ordered.
No way she said that.
It's weird that men feel so guilty about accepting that they like attractive women in their means of entertainment.
It's also weird that you have a lot of feminists get angry when men enjoy a product.
So the "plot" got you in her end, or I mean the end...
I only played the game for the articles
I bought this game after watching 30 seconds of gameplay. I’m all for it… escapism at its finest.
Good, not for the fan service btw, here for a new adventure
The fact that you didn't play red dead redemption 2 because of a long cutscene before gameplay kinda makes your opinion invalid lols
At first you see the Eve and think "hmm, nice woman", but then the game starts and that's the last thing you'll concentrate on. The enemy and enviornment designs, the gameplay, the story, all of that is much better than just a nice body.
Who in the hell skip the cutscenes in first playtrought?
Funny opening, but it does bring up some of the current "non-troversy". I don't really see how this is any different than say, Bayonetta so why is there an issue with the sexiness with some people? Some people today are too hung up on their holier-than-thou judgmental attitudes and they need to get over themselves! 😆
I'm the kind of person who watches every cutscene, but they should be skippable. Giving players more choice is always good
Interesting review about the "other" important things in a game... 😆
The game is good as far as the demo goes. These developers are smart. They see the crap going on her in the west they hear what gamers are complaining about and are capitalizing on it. Theyre gonna make a lot of money.
This is the first AAA title from this studio. They made mobile games before this 😎
Review??? The fuk, game is not out yet.
I played the demo. It was okay. It really relies on "graphics" to sell. It's basic. Not Bayonetta and nier automata level.
Once when feminism won the culture war and infected everything
I don’t understand where all this horniness accusations keep coming from in the gaming community . I’m a gay man who loves the game and recognizes it as a highly stylistic and aesthetic product. Eve looks amazing. God forbid we have a beautiful game with a gorgeous protagonist and even more gorgeous soundtrack.
Dom hates when people have fun.
To answer the question in the title, yes.
I will take out a second mortgage and clear my bank account to bet that -Temu Nier: Automata- Stellar Blade will fall out of relevancy faster than Atomic Heart.
Three Main Reasons:
1. It looks good.
2. Sounds good.
3. Plays good.
Which is exactly what all video games are suppose to be and do.
Eve is so cute at face and hot at body is insane
I generally don't like games enough to finish them. And the adult i am doesn't get anything by beating a game. Accomplishment is reserved for paying the mortgage and taxes and not doing hobbies
haha, yeah I paid my mortgage off 5 years ago - while playing vidyagames. But, you go pal 😂
Paying off mortgage and getting your taxes done isn’t an “accomplishment” (got mine done mid February) that’s simple survival…..
wtf is wrong with awesome cut scenes!?
i think it is good and im in my prime. i like the skin suit. gyattt!!!
One fact is that beautiful women in games are ALWAYS used for marketing and making money. What is better, a game cover with a beautiful woman like Eve or a woke and fat woman? Its clear.
Btw the games who make make the most money are based on showing and advertising beautiful, cute and hot women. There even are women who like that kind of stuff and they are not lesbian only :D
is stellar blade good??
-yes
is everyone just hor-
-you bet
And being horny is a crime?
4:32 Sorry are you a noob sir? Basic things like pick up items should be muscle memory lol.
Games fine, censorship is not.
This game looks great and seems to have decent gameplay. However, it has to have a good story and an interesting world! Not that I would pay 70 for it.
Peak game and setting
this game made me get the ps5 slim disc...
Had to pausse game and run off to P Hub and rub out out, for real yo. But the game so far is really awesome. Challenging, even dying on normal enemies, reminds of of dark souls games, but faster combat. But salot slower combat than devil may cry anbd bayonetta.
Why can’t it be BOTH??
Game of the year for me
