Revelations of Stellar Blade's Sizzle Reel: Mech-Suit, Tachy & More

- The demo of Stellar Blade, released about a week ago, was quite a hit. It was a blast to play and there seems to be a lot of apparent love for the game. At the end of the demo, we were given a short sizzle reel of about one and a half minutes in length. The sizzle reel contained a good amount of new footage mixed with some old content from the demo' gameplay and trailers. In this video I break down the sizzle reel and discuss everything we saw. There are a couple of big revelations that are going to get gamers really hyped. The first big thing I reveal is that it seems there will be mech / Gundam-like style gameplay. Although there is no gameplay shown of this in the sizzle reel, I did spot evidence of this in two cutscenes. The second big revelation I discuss is the return of Tachy. I share some modest speculation about what I think is going to happen with Tachy and how I think we'll be able to play as her throughout Stellar Blade's campaign. Additionally, I break down everything else in the sizzle reel. I spend some time talking about all of this in my analysis of the Stellar Blade demo's sizzle reel.

The scene where the alpha’s wings flap behind Tachy making it look like her wings is great foreshadowing
Another great foreshadowing is when Tachy rips off EVEs Pod door and says, “EVE! Are you alright? This place is dangerous. Take my hand!” It’s the same arm she loses to the Alpha Naytiba.
Probably a long shot but I find it interesting Tachy seems to be right handed but chose to use the left.
Definitely great story telling going on here in this game. Game of Thrones also had a similar scene where Drogon's wings spread outward above Daenerys in the final season. It's nice to see this implemented in Stellar Blade too.

After tachy gets her arm chopped off and seemingly died i was like shes gonna come back as a boss or something at the time i vaguely remembered an old trailer with tachy suiting up to fight eve but then this video brought it all together

When she returns she will be alpha natiba or however its spelled. Or at least that is what the trailer and subtitles seemed to suggest.

@happydaddykratos Well, every good story needs some drama. If a game is emotional engaging, the player will connect dipper with it and it stays remembered like Nier Automata for example, which was by the way the main inspiration for the game. And this is a good thing
I'm surprised nobody even mentioned the fact that Eve was flying around in a giant Mech. You're probably the only other person besides myself to mention it

At 9:24, that is an actual enemy you can fight in the demo. He is in the training room. When you interact with the skill setting module at a rest camp, press square to enter training. That enemy is the training dummy. You can set him to attack or be idle. It has some cool attacks.

As for playing as Tachy, maybe Shift Up could do a story/character expansion for the game...? If the base game sells well, and enough people want the expansion, then why not?
Yeah now that you mention it, I could see that happening as a more plausible thing similar to how we got the Ada Wong expansion of RE4

Since Stellar Blade gets inspiration from Nier. What if when you beat the game and play a new campaign you play as Tachy. That would be cool to see what she goes through as she turns into a Naytiva

Don't forget Nier Automata was a great inspiration for the devs. Besides 2B we get to play as 9S and A2 in that game. So being able to play someone other then Eve isn't such a big stretch. So hyped!

Awesome to finally see someone take a deep dive into the sizzle. It's insane how the demo has only touched the surface of all the content this game has. April 26th is gonna go down in the gaming history books.

@@unlistednaytiba Yeah, I remember being shocked that we could swim and dive in this game when I first saw the demo. So many surprises ahead. Incredible analysis btw, you brought up some really neat points and theories.
Your Tachy analysis was really interesting, and a lot of the pieces line up very plausibly. For me, the best-case scenario is a post-game arena like the Boss Challenge from the demo where you can cycle through various fights (a la Sekiro's rememberances or Jedi: Fallen Order's Meditation Arena) without needing to go through New Game + to re-fight a boss... and if Tachy is indeed playable, then having her as a possible secondary character to use in that context (the A2 to Eve's 2B, if you will) would be amazing.

Really appreciate your thoughts and especially the feedback in your second paragraph. I remember the game director stating that Jedi Fallen Order was also a source of inspiration so you may be right.
I really love how Eve's design completely stands out in everything.
Eve's design is vibrant and untouched when others wear dark and tactical clothing and some of them are even cybernetic.
Even green and white being her color scheme makes sense as the world is being stripped of life, vegetation and color by the naytibas.
So Eve as a character serves as a symbol of hope and life, the angel that will save humanity from despair in a dying world.

The Gundam-style mech info is totally blowing my mind!! This game keeps getting better and better before it's even released!
Dang it... we didn't get to play as the mech. haha. but it was still cool seeing it and battling it if you do the "take adam's hand" choice.
At 23:22 it also looks like the alpha naytiba's wings are tachys wings when it lands, which could also be foreshadowing (nice video!)
Yep, it's great foreshadowing and overall the storytelling looks really great. The story we'll get to experience once the game is released will be great no doubt.
I had to pause as you were talking about the hair and the year of development joke. I just hope this game, when it releases, isn't full of bugs and has too many issues. Almost every game released has a ton of issues plaguing them, I'm hopeful ShiftUp has done their due diligence to release something complete. Highly excited for this game.
I agree. One positive outlook we can look forward to is that it might not - Most to all of the narrative driven single player PS games seem to not be plagued by too many bugs on release.

Mech gameplay - maybe they'll keep it third person and we'll get third person shooter style gameplay mixed with flying bullethell-like gameplay similar to Nier
Great analysis as usual. Love watching your vids! I agree you'll be able to play as Tachy and I'll go further by saying we might even have a team in parts of the game like Nier Automata. I suggest this because during the demo, when upgrading your character, the UI suggests you will be able to select different characters for upgrade.
Oh yeah are you talking about how you can upgrade EVE, drone, etc. ? Yeah I didn't even think about the possibility of Tachy or other characters being in there. Great thought and I appreciate your feedback.

This is why you need ps5 like myself. I am a pc gamer myself, but I have ps5 buying Xbox is pointless because you can play all their games in pc, unlike Playstation. They have an exclusive game that you can't play in pc.

She has to be some kind of enhanced super soldier like Capt. America. She clearly has super human strength and agility. We see her move faster than normal humans, jump higher than humanly possible, fling around monsters that must be a 800 pounds or more and block attacks from large and heavy enemies (unless it's anime logic which means it's just "coolness" power with no reason behind it). As to whether it is from her suit or inherent in herself we do not know.
She also seems to absorb something from fallen soldiers. It suspect EVE isn't even human. Notice she never refers to her BODY, but her Body Frame. And we know from earlier trailers that she seems to be carrying something called the Eve Protocol.
She also absorbed the memories core of another soldier. Humans neither have nor absorb cores
Several thoughts have been raised on what/who EVE actually is. It's also curious that her name appears as an all-caps acronym as well.

Straight hype for the next month. Sony has been doing good with building hype by pushing up their marketing game during the month of release, so I'm really looking forward to what they put out.
i think tachy might just be a second playable character. Because the game draws heavy inspiration nier automata, you could make the case that she might be the A2 version of the story. I think she survives the fatal wound from the alpha and either gets help or somehow reaches a supply camp and that is why she has this survivor suit with the cape covering her lost arm.
Have you taken a close look at what she wraps over the left side of her body where her arm was severed? It kinda looks organic at some points... maybe I'm tripping and it's just a cape like material, but maybe it has something to do with her suit like you mention.
The really fascinating thing about all of Eve's suits is that no matter how close she gets to her enemies when slicing them into a million pieces, there is never a drop of blood on her...
Yeah that's the nano-tech keeping it nice and pristine :)
@HappyDaddyKratos Hi! Nice job with the speculation as usual! Here is some of my thoughts:
1. We will see all of Dive Suits 1-7. We saw 2nd, 3rd, 7th. We also saw 6th in another trailer. We may very well get 1st, 4th, 5th. On PS store there are screenshots of Eve wearing a Dive Suit that has a thick cable and pointy elbow. It's grey and dark blue. Wonder which one that is. My favorite suit next to the 7th Dive Suit.
2. Some keen eyed RUclips streamers noticed there is a L1 & R1 scroll icon on Eve's name in the upgrade menu at the supply depot camp that doesn't do anything in the demo. Which can mean we can upgrade other characters apart from Eve. Or upgrade the mech?
3. Continuing from point #2, if we can upgrade other characters, there maybe a boss assist aka "NPC summoning" system like Tachy or the samurai looking character (he is holding a sword in the LP cover art)? We already witnessed the game giving us a taste during the first boss in the demo with Tachy helping out.
4. With the first trailer showing Eve using Tachy's sword to downstab and with point #3, this gives me hope in Tachy coming back and we will be able to play as her or at least as a NPC assistant.
5. In the skill tree there are 5 total skill tree, but 2 trees are locked in the demo. We already assessed that 1 of them will be "Burst Skill" tree. The other one? These are Eve's skill tree so it can't be Tachy's (if she will be accessible). So hear me out...what if the last skill tree is Eve getting "Alpha Skill". Not Tachy's Alpha Naytiva corrupted skill that you were talking about, but what if Eve can use Tachy's blade? Dual Wield maybe?? We already seen her using Tachy's blade albeit cinematic. Or, I could be going ahead of myself, maybe a "Hyper Mode" or "Project Eve Mode" for Eve and skills that she can use in this mode in latter part of the game...OMG that will be so awesome!
6. There was a rumor that the game will be 35GB. The demo is 16GB. No way the full game is 35. It will most likely be close to 60GB unless they can pull off an insane magic compression.
The mech speculation is really cool, but I had a feeling Shift Up was planning something like this. This game has fishing and sword surfing. They took inspiration from Nier which had bullet-hell shooting and metroid-vania like gameplay mixed in. Shift Up isn't foolish and they probably won't show everything in the trailer. I am sure they have more mind blowing things to show in the final game.
My hype for this game is on the level of "there is almost nothing this game can do wrong to make my hype diminish". Been waiting 4 years so this game could turn out mid and I will still enjoy it. The only thing is the ending. Hopefully the ending won't be open ended and depressing, but ends definitely with a hopeful (happy?) note. Also, please have Dual Wield or Hyper Mode and return Tachy to our side! I love your deep dive content. Keep it up! Thank you!

1. Yes I think you're talking about the suit in one of the earlier trailers (the one before the state of play trailer right?). Kinda gives me Miranda Lawson vibes from Mass Effect. That suit is awesome - nice fav,
2. I think we saw this in the State of Play trailer - are you talking about how it says EVE, drone, exospine, etc.? I think that's what you're referring too. Hopefully the mech would be more than just one instance of playing and be something we can upgrade and use throughout the story.
3. I did like how Tachy fights alongside you in the demo, so perhaps you are right and we'll see this elsewhere in the game as well.
4. Yes and I'm also hearing people talk about how we might in fact kill Tachy but then take up her sword and continue to use it in her honor. This or having her back and fighting alongside us would both be cool to experience, we'll see.
5. Yeah I was wondering a lot about what is locked. You're right that the burst skill tree has gotta be one of them, but not sure about the second one. I could see Alpha skills becoming something you unlock later because you would improve upon yourself as a Beta - then becoming the Alpha, especially if you kill Tachy at some point.
6. I saw this as well. I don't understand how it could be that small of a file size. Maybe Shift Up developed compressing abilities?

Man every bloody time I watch you vids on Stellar Blade you keep getting me hyped for the game, no one is breaking down the game like you are in fact no one is doing it but you.
It would be sick as heck if we could pilot a mech and I can see that happening since Kim was inspired by Nier, piloting the mech would be an action set piece like the surfing sections which is why I say Steller Blade has hack & slash elements with a mix of sl, if this was just another sl I would not even look in this game`s direction, but I hope the mech set piece is in third person but if it`s not I won`t be torn up about it since it might be a small part of the game, I like videogames that have multiple genres in them or different set pieces, it switches up gameplay and makes it fresh.
Playing as Tachy would be interesting and it`s not far fetch since in Nier you could play a different character at one point as well.
I like Eve has a new hair style at the part where she`s weaning that red outfit talking to Adam.
Like I said before I didn`t like Nier but I appreciate it existing, because of it we have Stellar Blade which I prefer (aesthetically) over Nier.
I don`t know if you know but IGN showed some new gameplay of Stellar Blade, if you haven`t see it you should watch it, it`s sick and maybe you could do a vid on it, there is a lot of stuff in that gameplay.

@@unlistednaytiba When I saw the gameplay I was hyped, I skipped the cutscenes and the boss at the end and I was still hyped, imaging if I didn`t skip them.
That`s one of the reasons why I love hack & slash games the diverse gameplay and set pieces some of them offer is amazing.
I saw EVE`s one and they released Tachy`s one which I`ll watch since you reminded me.

The mech part is probably near the end after Eve fights the Elder Naytiba in space from the first Project Eve trailer. this is her coming back to earth
Yep totally agree. Maybe shell need to navigate back down into orbit and avoid being hit by the energy beams that destroyed the 7th airborne squad's initial descent.

At 9:27 the enemy you are analysing is actually in the demo if you go to the camp before the boss fight and use the skill upgrade machine there is and option to train and the training partner is this enemy and you can fight it freely as a training dummy setting it to stant still attack normally use special moves or or just out right fight you.
Yeah now that I heard about it, thanks to your comment and a few others, I went back to the demo to try and find it.

@@unlistednaytiba On a serious note. I think you are right about Tachy. I don't think she will die. The suit she wears with the skull is clearly inspired by the skull of Mary Magdalene.
To take that a step further, Mary Magdalene was a woman in the gospels that had 7 demons driven out of her. You can say naytibas taking control over a host is like a sci fi version of demonic possession. I think Eve will find some way to save Tachy and drive the infection out of her to complete that allusion.
What would be cool is if there's multiple endings. One where you let Tachy fully turn and die. Or you can save her by clearing the infection thereby giving her a sci fi exorcism. Also, that crow alpha nytiaba is likely a comrade Tachy knew, that's why she said "here friend, it's me you want." The crow looks like a female that was impaled from the back since you can see the protrusion coming out of her chest. I would not be surprised if the pre crow soldier sacrificed herself to let Tachy get away in a previously failed mission and that the same cycle is playing out like an echo in the intro of this game.
Demo has a really good outfit with normal heels but i really like her wedges

I think Tacky will be like Sephiroth in FF7 if she doesn't die at the end of the game and she will be playable she will be half human half alien.
I sort expect of her to become the A2 in the story, she becomes an enemy because she discovered a dark truth, perhaps regarding their mission in wiping out the naytibas and saving humanity.

I would not take for granted that we will have mech play. We only seen cutscenes with them, no actual gameplay.

As this game love the inspiration in NieR, its not farfetched that we have a Secret or Alternate "route" with Tachy
I had noticed the mecha but I prefer to stay in wait and see mode than to get hyped for nothing. I mean, yeah it will be cool to be able to control that mecha but it is also quite possible that it is not playable and appears only the time of several cinematics, which would be a shame. That said, I still tend to think that it will be playable and that it will be with his help that we can beat the biggest enemies like the gigantic flower that fires projectiles in the space that can be seen in the intro of the game.
Another thing I noticed during the demo is that in the equipment menu of EVE, we are made very clear that we can change characters to equip them. I know thanks to the Digital Deluxe edition, we can change the outfits of Adam and Lily but it is possible that we can also customize this mecha if it actually becomes playable.
Just like Tachy, now that you seem to confirm that she will be playable at certain times of the game. That said, I have the impression that we will not be able to save her and rather that we will control her at certain moments of the game to see her gradually transform and lose her humanity until we have to face and kill her with EVE. It would be more in the mind of a Nier Automata than the fact that we can save her and that she comes to help us afterwards. But hey, these are just speculation for now.
Bad news here is that we will need to wait 20 days before being able to play the full game and I don't want to overdo the demo and break the game because of that. :(
You are right, I've played the demo only once and the boss battle a couple of times. Definitely trying to not overdo it. Yes, upon looking at the menu screens, you are right, there are some possibilities still unknown because of some things being "locked" so your thought of the mech customization could be a possibility.

You know you can USE all these moves in BOSS BATTLE that unlocks after you complete the demo right? It’s incredible.
Yeah I was playing around with it for a bit, as well as using the drone cannon to shoot. The demo boss battle is pretty fun.
@@unlistednaytiba oh ok. I was only mentioning that because at the beginning of the video you appear to be speculating about certain Beta skills but you can used them all in the Boss Battle to answer the questions being raised
"He seems to be down for Eve as he rescued her and patched her up..." This just in, folks: you have to be down for someone in order to feel the need to rescue them and give them medical care. Not to mention that he knew what she (an airborne soldier) and he knew what her mission was (to take out the alpha and elder Naytiba) before he rescued her. He literally uses this knowledge to pretty much blackmail her by telling her that he knows how she can find the Naytiba she's looking for and he will help her, BUT not until she does a thing for him first. Doesn't seem like a down bad moment to me at all. More like mutual convenience... I mean he doesn't even know exactly who she is and he has his own agenda, so how can he be "down" for her? It's somewhat obvious that they're probably going to have a progressing relationship just through their names, so why even try to connect their potential relationship through plot points that, in all actuality, don't make sense? Hell, even their names could be just symbolic and have no connection to how their relationship will progress.
Yes, Adam is probably not who we think he is. I thi k he might have some ulterior motives

Im glad that they have the “story mode”, like I always wanted to play Elden ring, but I’m no good at it and will never get to finish it myself. But I played normal mode on this, and failed, but still felt good playing on story mode. I guess I’m just glad they added this mode 🙏🏻
Yes and to let us experience the story / narrative without the stress of combat. I bet you can play normal mode if you learn the enemy attacks. One recommendation iI can give you if you want to increase your gaming skills is to play Returnal. Since you already have a PS5, you could probably find it for a good deal. It's got amazing gameplay that really teaches you how to play smart, and it also has an incredible and mysterious story. You may enjoy it :)

I deff could play on normal and I’m sure I’d get used to it, but I really just wanted to experience the demo without dying over and over. When the full game comes out I’ll definitely experiment!

21:27 im almost 100% positive that this moment showing Tachy, is NOT the same moment the subtitles saying “its an alpha nayteba” play. Just an intentional misdirect by whoever made the trailer
If the airborne squadron are some type of Android, then i think they have some kind of resistance to the Nayteba
Yes that's what I thought at first. Kinda pondered over this a long time, but so much is pointing to her being Alpha Naytiba. A couple more things I noticed is that her legs are in the mechanical device and it makes the form of her legs look more bird-like, similar to the alpha naytiba in the demo. Also, I believe the skull is symbolizing something related to Mary Magdalene, and she might witness something related to the EVE protocol then pay penance for her turning "evil" (alpha naytiba) - I think she's going to return to the "good" side in the end.
They bleed too much to be androids, you would see wires and sparks when they are killed, my first option is that they are cyborgs including Eve and the other option is that they are genetically improved humans, Captain America style, in case certain Nier fanboys already say that Stellar is a plagiarism of this, when the same director has said that he was inspired by Nier, he does say that they are quite different.
Even the nude suit seems to also be a nod to Ghost in the Shell.
Oh yeah, just realized that. You know, Kim Hyung-Tae mentioned there may be a possibility of collaborations with other established IP in terms of future outfits. That would be hella cool if they did a Motoko inspired outfit for Eve.

On the character skill screen on the name eve there is icon l1 and r1 indicating a toggle. I agree there is a second character as to who I don’t know. Your guess seems to be plausible.

I've been doing the first rest area- backstabbing the dude on the left, then the drop stab from the bridge, then dude after dropstab, then going in the room with the dude behind the wall that ambush you, then the flying thing, run back and clean up the little guys, then rest and repeat.

I have a feeling we might not play as Tachy, maybe it'll be a power up that EVE gets from her(ie her death/sacrifice)? Would be pretty cool to control Tachy too though
Yes perhaps they are just new special attacks that have yet to be unlocked. But we do know for sure that Eve will use Tachy's sword at some point, as seen in the earlier trailer on the space station.
5:25 tails and wings on high fashion outfits are nice to see

Well Eve in that mech reminds me of Nier automata flight unit , probably where they got it from since the devs said most of the inspiration for Stellar Blade came from that game.

Adam and Lily are playable characters and here's why
In the demo before you get to the last boss you discover the camp and at the camp you get to upgrade eve weapons. At the very top there's a selection option. You see eve name there and most likely Adam and Lily weapon upgrades. L1 and L2 to select. Now that's being said in the pre-order there is clothing for Adam and Lily.
Those weapon icons that you just showed in the video. Perhaps one belongs to Adam and the other. Lily. I don't think tachy will be a playable character for a short time however eve does take tachy sword during the fight and use it as finishing blow on tacky . Hopefully eve get to keep tachy sword permanently I don't know the name of tachy sword but If I can remember it correctly Eve's sword is name Stellar blade. The Dev is a fan of nier and 2B has two swords. Perhaps the bust icons in the video here is tachy sword but we don't know who is welding the sword. It could be Eve. It could be Adam. It could be Lily. It's a mystery

You do get to play other characters the deluxe edition gives you outfits so it's definitely possible
