The mason bees lay the female eggs in the back of the hole, males in front.. drill the holes 6 inches deep and you should get plenty of bees. Woodpeckers will dig deep in your rotten wood tho so you might replace it with a dried but not rotten piece. I buy old metal tool boxes, cut chunks of 6x6 to fit and fill them full of holes. In the winter I close the lid of the toolbox which is mounted vertical on a post or building.
I subbed when you put the post up, I love ponds and wildlife, watching your videos will be a treat.

A great video. I envy you the space that has allowed you to develop such a great pond facility. I am a great advocate of ponds in the garden to help amphibians, birds and insects, regardless of the space and scale. Certainly you have given me some further ideas - on a smaller scale!!

We get a lot of typical FL waterfowl as well as other wildlife including gators. I came back in after trimming and finished watching. Thanks for the videos and the inspiration. Best of luck and I look forward to the next one. Tom

Great ideas. We have constructed our own photoblind and pond on a much smaller scale. Amazing number of birds, mammals and reptiles came to be photographed. We are designing a new setup and your videos have given us many ideas and food for thought. We have a problem you don’t however. Where we are setting up is on a cattle ranch so we have to plan for cows and the chaos they can bring. Thanks for these videos. You are contributing a great deal to wildlife photography.

@@StefanoIaniro Well, the property owner has an earth moving company and is going to build us a big mound of dirt about 4 feet high and 30’ x 50’ and level the top. We will dig in the sunken photoblind and put the pond in front of it. We have planned for the lighting in the mound layout. We will put a fence around the mound that can’t be seen in the photos but hopefully will keep out the cows. We will probably put a hole in the fence down low and a ramp so the small animals can get in. This mound is in the water flood plane and the mound should allow us to still be dry in the event of a hurricane passage. Just another thing to think about. I’m glad we have so much cooperation from the landowner. He is interested in maintaining the blind for years to come when we are through with it. A place for grandkids and friends to see what’s out there. Thanks for your ideas.

They produces a massive amount of seeds. In the spring, I'm always finding stores of them in my greenhouse and sheds. They were and are wild on this property. I toss the seeds out to grow. I'm sure they have other caches but I still make sure the feeder is full.

Can’t wait for this series to continue to evolve! Also exited for more birding and photo challenges! Will you consider making more content on video? I believe you had one video like that.

Thanks! I was thinking of doing some behind the scenes for video when filming around the pond.
