It's exactly cause of that that I realized I was listening to the wrong meter of the song. I always thought it was 6/8 and super artistic, but after nearly 9 years I finally caught the meter by accident in 4/4 and it sounds phenomenal.

@Divide Gamingit's definetly polyrhythm I think they jumb between 5/4, 6/8 and 4/4 every 4 bars or something. It's so hard to follow even harder to play. You can tell by the end the vocalist ends up singing in 6/8 but was 4/4 previously and I think 5/4 4 bars before that

I bet cuz they are in Australia and the difficulty to constantly tour takes a toll on them; however, they are huge there, every show is always sold out with weeks in advance.
The video was shot so well using seemingly very little and really sells the end of days concept. Love when they kick it up a notch at 2:30 and sets the stage for the escalating danger of the situation portrayed. Gave me chills at 3:24 when the younger girl gave that look of sadness/confusion. This video (eerily relevant today) and this band deserve more attention and praise. Drummer kicks ass ahem. Favorite song from them.

Underrated GEM of a song. I used to play this song aloud in my colony, during the time when it was released and many years further. Also, the video is touching too.
I love this song. But I think it's complex only because It presents itself as a musical equivalent of an optical illusion: if you follow the vocal lines is just in 4/4 with the snare placed on beat 2'nd and 4. But you can also choose to feel it in 3/4 and be mindfucked by how the singer seems lost or very spot on on somethin only he knows. Alternating between the two as you want is prettty fun. Cheers!

@@kntbaden The drums and bass are written to seem weird like that but the entire song is actually in 4/4. The time signature of the song briefly becomes clear at 3:16. It's super hard for me to internalize it in 4/4 but you can check out 'We Are' (live on triple j) to hear it very clearly.
