Hi from the UK, I’ve had mine since June 2023. You’re gonna love , they’ve already done afew recalls and updates to mine. I expected & accepted that being an early adopter . Every issue you read about seems to get looked into straight away by the Magna engineers and upgrades / solutions introduced . You enjoy it, I have no doubt it’ll be around in good shape in 10 years time . I feel the build quality is better than the 2018 (W463) merc G Wagon I swapped it out for .
Cheers and thanks for checking us out. Good info all around so thanks for posting. I am expecting great things and really look forward to getting it out there in the proper environment!
Hi folks. I too am a UK first adopter, June 2023. They swapped the transfer case early on. But my experience from day one has been amazing. The vehicle is superb and I just love it. It can tackle anything, goes most places others only dream of. Turns a few heads too. You won't regret it. Enjoy!
you are fortunate in north america that due to a left hand driving car you are not affected by the awful footwell bump that interferes with your feet on the right hand drive models. Its a deal breaker here in south africa. Other that and that narrow small rear door i think its a great vehicle. Enjoy.
Yes I have read about the issue and it sure sounds like it is hurting the RHD market. I sure hope they can reroute the exhaust and get that sorted as they have surely heard enough of it by now! The doors don't really cause me any concern at this point and I have no issue with the rear visibility also driving a Jeep Wrangle with larger spare hanging off the back, I guess it all depends on what you are coming out of. Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment.
I have owned one since October 2023 and no issue at all with the footwell on my right hand drive vehicle. Also the narrow door is fantastic when you reverse into a parking spot against a wall. Stand behind the spare wheel, open the small door, move to your left and then open the large door until the spare hits the wall. Fantastic access to the rear. I keep seeing idiots just open the small door and wonder if their head hurts. Most complaints come from people who have only read about it and watched RUclips videos. Same as the steering.
@@DavesIneosGrenadier Thanks for taking the time to comment. I have my opinion of the steering that will be in my next video after driving it for a bit longer and getting the break in done but broadly I agree, a totally overblown issue. Subbed you as well to follow long.
6'2" bloke -been driving my Grenadier in UK for a while now as a very early adopter. I don't notice the footwell at all. It is extremely comfortable and I love it. Thanks for your videos and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I have one. I love it. I don't drive it enough because I also own a new Defender which I also love. If I had to get rid of one, it would probably be the Grenadier because I need to do some long road trips and the Defender is a bit more comfortable (but not by much) and more economical. But I don't have to get rid and I suspect I will have the Grenadier a lot of years to come. Both are great cars.
It is good to have options! Thanks for dropping by and I am not surprised the new Defender would be the choice for road trips-sounds like a great vehicle.
Interesting video but some of the things you talk about I have no idea what they mean. I'm a city boy with a Citi car. But I'm sure they are fun vehicles to run around in
Having the right vehicle in the right element makes all the difference and I am sure this would not be an ideal city car, but I bet it would be just fine to travel to Summer Fest!
Hi Dick! It has been a while and I hope you and your family are well. Nice truck - we’ll have to let Dr. Gilvary know that a few of his former colleagues are running around in these state side. All the best, Dan Casey
Dan, great to hear from you. I hope all is going well on your end. Ha, ha, yep tell Brian to come to MI and we can go dune running! Thanks for checking in, nice to hear from you.
The BMW motors apparently no one else has had gripes about which is weird considering what you have mentioned and the years of recorded history, especially on YT, of crap Beemer motors. In Germany it somehow isnt a problem and even more curious is the diesel motor also made by them. Unfortunately, as per usual, North American market doesnt get it. Thanks dieselgate scandal. Personally I think youre going to have your INEO for a long time or at least could have it for the long run. Its just the motor in which case maybe in a decade, provided you make it that long you can do a more suitable engine swap? Regardless, I hope it lasts that long for you. Just subscribed and looking forward to more real world Ineos videos.
Thanks for checking us out. I am keeping an open mind on the engine as my personal experience has been with the V8 which seemed to have more problems with gaskets and the cooling system (source of most of my issues). Thanks for the good vibes!
Important metric for those looking to travel in it or use it commercially. Thanks for dropping by the channel! I think the highest I have seen so far here is just over 1,500. I expect highest payloads are for the stripper commercial versions but those aren't offered in the US.
@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 I've long said that North America has a different rating system to the rest of the world. GVWR and GVW are not the same thing. I knew it would end up not having more payload then a Wrangler, Gladiator, or a Bronco. Basically a ¼ Ton payload. That being said I believe it is basically a modified G-wagon chassis. Like the Chrysler 300 was a modified E-class.
I am not sure the definitions but I can compare the sticker on my 2015 JKU Rubicon Hardrock which had a max passenger and cargo rating of 850 Lbs (before installing my winch and AEV rear tire holder./35 inch tire). I understand the JLUs perhaps have higher payloads but not sure they make an equivalent to the Hardrock so cannot say for sure, perhaps the Rubicon X? The Grenadier is rated as spec'ed in the build (my understanding) and has a 1268 pound rating after installation of roof rack, winch, rock rails and other small accessories.@@fabulousoffroaddesigns5080
@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 well I'm more comparing the 2024 Wrangler. The 4xe has a payload of 1280 lbs now. The Rubicon is 1327 lbs and the Gladiator of a up to 1710 lbs. They bumped some up by over 400 lbs to compete.
You are really sticking your neck out and taking a risk with this purchase, given that it doesn't have much of a proven history. But it's a calculated risk. Looking forward to seeing your road test reports in due course. Well done on the acquisition.
Don't know what your car history is, but wouldn't used Land Cruiser 200 give you your 250k 20 year car? I've had Land Cruisers for 25 years and they meet those 2 goals.
You bring up a very valid point and there is no denying the Land Cruiser has a well deserved reputation! I could have mentioned in the video that another rule I have is that I buy vehicles new and drive them until they are rusted out heaps. I know this is not the strategy finance folks love to express but I want to know they were broken in correctly, maintained etc. Price was not really a factor but a low mileage used 200 is not far from the price of the Grenadier! Had the 200 (or maybe 300 at this point) been available in the US without being a fully loaded lux-version I would certainly have considered one but sadly Toyota has chosen otherwise. I appreciate you checking out the channel and for the great question.
Very valid point. The NA towing software issue shows that each market has its own idiosyncrasies that need to be resolved and worked through. Great point and thanks for checking out the channel.
The payload ratings must be different for the US ,a petrol trailmaster is ratd at 907kg without driver and he diesel at 833kg the trade off for payload for the diesel is well worth it with 100nm more of toque at 550 nm . The gvm ia 7000kg and towing weight is 3500 kg for both . that is the most you can have without having a truck and truck licnce .No regrets buying it but it has its quirks just need to get used to them
@@aussiebattler7789 I have heard that Aus gets slightly higher rating for whatever reason. My build is a Trialmaster with winch, roof rack, rock rails but no leather or carpet. My GVWR is 575kg/1268lbs
I believe you've made a huge mistake. I've gathered much evidence in Australia that this car is nothing but a joke. It's not an imitation of something but rather an unsuccessful simulation.
Time will tell and it certainly would not be the first mistake I have ever made. However at this point having driven it for over 1,000 miles I am happy with it.
All things considered 100k vs 100k , there is no way this vehicle is more versatile and fun than my diesel wrangler rubicon. Also this rig has a number of odd design decisions. But who cares, I would love to do the Rubicon trail with you.
We love our Rubicon and, as mentioned, are not replacing it so I agree, they are awesome vehicles. The Grenadier compliments it for a different type of travel. Yep, the INEOS has some unfamiliar design decisions but has some very creative ones as well and time will tell if they age well, but we are willing to find out. In the meantime I hope we run into each other out there in the wild someday!
