Some great points randy. Hope some of these drivers learn to slow down!! They ain't getting there any faster by speeding on side streets. I'll see you again soon, I'm sure!!

    Yes, Mr. Randy.
Two-lane roundabouts are stressful. I'm on the road 10-12 hours every day, and in Ottawa, there are some roundabout roads. When I end up in the wrong lane, people honk aggressively. Some people are so impatient and miserable. When I visited PEI, I noticed there are many roundabouts, but people are much nicer and never honk aggressively.
Thank you so much for the video.

Our town is using some roundabouts. They are great in almost every aspect.
Unfortunately very few people understand that they need to signal right when they want to exit. I’ve seen people signing left because they assume others know where “left” is from their perspective. It’s kind of odd this is such a source of confusion but with time as more people start driving with them it will get better.

I live on a street like that. It’s not super crazy busy but it’s the speeding that infuriates me. Speed bumps were installed. And cameras. I think that helped. Reality is people should go the speed limit, but that’s almost silly to expect. My issue is blocked driveways…like why? Ugh. And I do like roundabouts. Popular in other countries. But it can be confusing so I like the simple one lane ones😂

Great topic Randy. My street is kitty corner to 2 major streets. I loved when my street had a speed camera running for nearly a year. They busted so many speeders. 25 years ago a child was crossing at the crosswalk to go to school when they were hit by a speeding car coming around the corner. I can't remember if they died or were seriously injured. We petitioned the city to put in speed bumps... no. It's a detour street when stuff happens. OK .. lets get crossing lights installed.. nope, nothing came of that idea either. It's a very dangerous side street and no one in city council is willing to do anything about it. You would think with a lot of children crossing the street to get to school, they would take it more seriously.
I wish the city would install several speed cameras on each street (going and coming). Our city would be mega rich!!!

Great video again What I see with this type of stop signage is not coming to a full stop which is dangerous in itself bc you can miss oncoming traffic Agree with roundabouts The ones I've used are ok Thx again Have a great evening

Another very informative video. I know that it's against the Highway Traffic Act to use stop signs to control traffic speed. We're we live now (it's mostly rural), drivers speed along a particular side street to beat the school buses. It's very dangerous.
We had some round-abouts in Ajax but most don't know how to use them. Signs were designed and put up but there was a president-setting case in BC where these signs we're found to be a contributor to the cause of a serious collision so Ajax was forced to remove them. Now there are more simple signs but still drivers don't get it. Several years ago an ambulance tried to rush over a love profile round-about and was totaled. Luckily no on was injured
Near schools, like you I like to see proper crosswalks with flashing lights along with crossing guards.

Roundabouts are great; drivers just need better education about them. Make it part of the requirements for getting your license and possibly even for license renewal. Idk about the pedestrian crossing issue, but maybe they could put the crosswalk a little off to the side from the roundabout?
The only roundabout that has ever confused me is a massive circle near my alma mater with traffic coming in from 5 directions, 4 of which have multiple lanes. Some of my fellow students called it "The Circle of Death."
However, that's the exception. The intersection you described sounds like it only involves 3 directions with one lane per direction, which is a great opportunity for a roundabout.

You made some great points. I don't mind roundabouts if people could use them properly. I had one guy in front of me stop dead in the middle of the circle trying to figure out where to go. Also, I have had some people cut right in front of me, even though I'm in the circle first just because they don't want to wait. Ok, that's my rant for now. :)

A stop sign is a stop sign. People slow down and then proceed and its wrong. More stop signs? Ugh! Roundabouts are common in Europe and can be an absolute nightmare.

Good video nailed it! I think that with regards to stops signs or stop lights or any type of level grade intersections municipalities should be taxed annually for each of these and credited for every round about over pass or "Michigan left lanes" that they have this way cities will benefit long term by planning to eliminate slow dangerous level grade intersections. One thing they can do is to change all stop signs into yield signs it will speed things up and eliminate the issue of rolling stops. Just my two cents worth.

Roundabouts, yes they work, but I absolutely hate them. LOL
Any time I go to Ottawa and I stop in Kempville for some reason, I’m always stuck navigating through roundabouts. There are still drivers that insist on racing through them to get to their exit, and they can cause a bit of apprehension andconfusion for seniors that are trying to putter their way through them. They drive me bananas, but I will admit that for the most part, they definitely are effective at slowing traffic down.

It bugs my nerves when peoole roll, speed and "pretend" stop signs dont exist. Im inquiring speed bumps for the safety of children, dogs and people. Wish me luck. This has been going on for 3 years almost. Its pretty sad grown people dont know a stop sign. Round abouts where i live people are extremely aggresive. The summer is the worst when city people come visit. Some People just need to smarten up.

I would like some investigation into driving schools, or who ever is teaching new drivers. I am seeing things on the road that I have never seen in my 50 years of driving. some think merge is speed up to beat the merger, some think someone CUTs them off when they signal and move over and your trying hard not to let them move over

I suggest to traffic engineers and The Police, if there are instances of aggressive driving, using side streets etc..., you need to add stop signs. Not taking them away. Put a stop sign within 5 yards of the stop sign. There's positive reinforcement, and negative reinforcement. When positive reinforcement doesn't work. You need more negative reinforcement, not less. Just keep adding stop signs. It might be an absurd law, but in the abstract who cares broski. You'll eventually end up changing bad driving habits overnight. I swear to god you will. Problem solved.

See, my logic is different. I say if the scenario exists where people roll or run through stop signs because they're pissed off, or whatever. Then I say make that intersection a 4 way stop and then have a cop sit there randomly to enforce the stop sign. Simple
