Hey! I'm back and this time from the Gralloch Gravel race in Scotland, the first UCI gravel race in the UK. I had loads of fun at this race, hope you enjoy!
Nice report Ruth, I was the guy that repaired your tyre! You were one of many that I helped, but you win with the most (3 holes) in one tyre!! For next time, we'll use Duct tape on the inside or an old gel-wrapper apparently will do the trick. Vittoria also have a new liner of only 50g worth thinking about... Glad you managed to make it to the end!!!!!
Thanks so much for riding and being such a star - I designed the course. There are miles and miles of gravel here - so much double track and flowing. See you in 2024!
Thanks for great video. So Continental do a Shield Wall puncture protection tubeless ready tyre. I haven’t ridden with shield wall but I’ve used continental’s other puncture protection tyres and they’re second to none and properly awesome :)
Hmm could be tricky - it’s pretty flinty gravel there in Scotland - isn’t really technical but loads of people got punctures so would think about what you can do to minimise those. So 35 probably ok if you are pretty good on the gravel bike but is generally the chunkier sharper gravel
@@Reastle1 thanks for the heads up. Plenty to consider and as a tyre badger I am loosing sleep thinking about it. Ive actually got loan of more suitable bike so I am gonna run a 40mm G- One Tubeless

Ah thanks so much! To be fair the plugged tyre is still soldiering on so you did a v good job 😊

It was a brilliant course!
Great race report Ruth
I don’t like tubeless for that reason the sealant doesn’t always work, I use zefal tyre liners, looks good fun though 😊😊

Good to know, will check it out
Top gravel tip take spares 😂
I have tyre liners in my gravel/CX bike so it can still be ridden whe you’ve flattened. Why don’t you give the 3 peaks CX race a go in Sept?
What tyres did you use? Reckon I could get away with a 35mm?

Wang a Spare tube in. Train doing it at home.. No point faffing about on side of the road . Gets you moving at least in a few minutes .
I thought on that surface a tube would just pinch flat almost immediately?
@@Reastle1 Stick a bit more pressure in. Will get you out of trouble ,ie moving again at worst. Remember MTB racers been using tubes for decades , :)
Noooo. It's the Southern Uplands. Way better than the Highlands as I'm sure you saw.
Ahhhh sorry. Was magical 😊
glad you started with proper cyclistd
