4:00 - 4:30 the best scenes in the video were when you found that beautiful little waterfall, followed by spotting the first other riders -- your smile and the change in your voice said it all
Awesome! What I love is seeing you keep smiling even though some random little thing is threatening to ruin your day. It's not the obstacles, it's how we deal with them. Great race!
Thought I saw you on the route (I was one of the guys in the background at 13:11). Absolutely amazing work on catching up from the delayed start and getting in way before the overall time cut. Speedy. Also, the washboard was hell. It will forever me in my nightmares.
You're an inspiration, Juliet. The trouble is, I need much more than inspiration nowadays. Just an hour on the bike and my legs ache for a couple of days. (Sixty years ago, I could ride a 100 mile TT, then go on the club run, and be fine the next day. Grrrr.)
This looks awesome. Just got back from a bikepacking trip in the WestFjords of Iceland myself - I made a film too if anyone’s interested! The landscapes are so different depending where you are! You certainly had better weather than I did 😂
I’m a big fan and your humble optimistic and gracious attitude despite some difficulties just makes me a bigger fan! I’m a 35 year old women and I really look up to you.
I had lots of mechanicals doing this too - and had resigned to enjoying the spectacular scenery quite early on...! You have captured so well all the highs and lows of the ride - good job on making the cut off for the 200 - and thank you for the super friendly, loud and cheerful "Hi" as you came flying past me.
Loved it that you were able to smile and bring joy and laughter amidst the issue and still able to enjoy the race! Keep doing it! I really enjoy watching your videos and binge-watching them! From the Philippines! Cheers!!!
Oh Juliet, you are so disorganised but we all love you. That looked like an awesome ride and you lucked out with the Icelandic weather which can be brutal. 👏👏👏
Every time I see a new video in my feed, it's a chance for "JE Calamity Bingo" 😛 What will it be this week.... Spin that wheel 🤣 - Mechanical Failures - Navigational Issues (not following the bike computer) - Navigational Issues (disagreeing with what the bike computer says) - Arriving late with Coffee - Arriving late without Coffee - More mechanical failures But I still like watching cycling in interesting places 😛
It ain’t over till it’s over! Congratulations on catching up, completing, and having such a good attitude. It would be easy to allow frustration to dominate in those situations so it’s lovely to see you still laughing and enjoying it☺️
This video brought back memories of the washboard section and I felt the pain with you 😂 Great attitude and footage. You rarely see persistence and grit with such a nice smile
Great ride, saw you at the start line (there were 4 of us in Orange Jackets behind you in your first clip. Awesome job making up the time, I'm still rattling from all the washboard sections :).
Was nice to ride part of this with you (one of the DIRT boys), and you did a great job of capturing the essence of the ride… also agree with Boo to the washboard!
My Kingdom for a cable shifter :) Yeah seen a few videos of the Iceland terrain now.. Deff need some sort of practical methods of getting out of trouble if things go pear shaped say if you were doing same route when the only back up is yourself ! Wild as it gets
Great job! I’ve been thinking about doing that since I got my Lauf bicycle two years ago. But after seeing how difficult it is in some parts, I will just enjoy it vicariously.
After your bad start well done you.... always good to see you videos.....shows your MTB riding pays off when going down the rough bits when others get off and walk down 👍👍👍👍👍👍
It isn't over until it's over, well done hanging in tight Juliet! Little mishap at the start but we trusted you to make it to the finish line. Absolutely exquisite views, it might have felt like a rollecoster riding it , surely looked like it 😆 Make a safe trip back home and take care 😁😄 =] 👋
That looks so much more fun than my local route (Brixham, Greenway, Noss, Hill Head), which I blast around when I feel the need. Knew you would make the most of a bad start. Viking spirit, it is Iceland after all 🚴♀
Great Video. I'm thinking of entering this race this next week. What do you think is the best choice for tyres? Faster with minimal tread or something with a bit of grip? I've raced DH and Enduro for years so I'm not adverse to sliding around a bit if need be 😂.
Thanks! I’d recommend it, was brilliant. I think I had 45c WTB Raddlers and they felt spot on. By contrast, I went narrower with less tread for The Traka
Good for you on keeping a positive frame of mind. I had a blast but did struggle on the section I call the "rock garden" just before first asphalt. I agree that the last 100km is really hard.
Make a note to add a coin / tool to your kit bag to remove the battery :) pointless to advise to check the batteries before every ride because we are humans and we forget stuff.
Damn, just shows how fast you are. Starting so much later and catching up to soany people. Destroying the downhills :o you are quick on these, damn! That one music part you added was bit annoying. Not gonna lie :p
They also don't work with Flat Tyres, Snapped Cables, Broken Chains... All of these things (inc Batteries) I carry spares for and have tested plans on how to fix 🤓

one of my favourite bits for sure
juliet elliott is my spirit animal. i'm genuinely in awe how you keep up your spirits up at all times. and now i wanna go to iceland.
Awesome! What I love is seeing you keep smiling even though some random little thing is threatening to ruin your day. It's not the obstacles, it's how we deal with them. Great race!
Well done Juliet, what a fantastic effort after a difficult start.

Lesson #1 Always check batteries!!!!!!!! Beautiful ride. I am so glad that you overcame the problem and caught the group and had a wonderful ride.
That bit at around 9:15 is fantastic, I loved that part!

I'd love to go there!
@@JulietElliottsChannel You won't regret it!
Already seen it. Well worth a watch.
@@garyboyle695 thanks Gary!

thank you so much : )
I'll stick to mechanical for touring and offroad bikes for the very reasons of batteries. Sometimes you've just got to get off and push.
I had lots of mechanicals doing this too - and had resigned to enjoying the spectacular scenery quite early on...! Well done you for hanging on in there! Loved the commentary 😀
Well done Juliet, wow what an awesome ride, great footage.
Looks like you had a great time. I had a great time watching you tackle this ride.
That looked a mint race. What an environment to cycle through - well done.

Well done Juliet fantastic effort and great scenery 👍
What a great “race”, captured in a beautifully filmed and edited video. ❤
thank you
LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE! Such an inspiration.
Thanks David : )
Looks great ride , you show up lots of riders with your speed and skills keep up the good work!
This video brought back memories of the washboard section and I felt the pain with you 😂
Great attitude and footage. You rarely see persistence and grit with such a nice smile
Such great views. Glad you you were able to crack on and enjoy the race.
Great ride, saw you at the start line (there were 4 of us in Orange Jackets behind you in your first clip. Awesome job making up the time, I'm still rattling from all the washboard sections :).
So many excellent videos, but this is one of your best undaunted by the late start.
Thanks so much!

.. the background song, everybody’s rocking it with batteries…😂😂😂🤭
Well Done
Nice to see some drone footage being used great video Juliett
Thanks! 🙂
Love your positive attitude!

Drone footage, you go Sam!!!!
No Wild Swimming on this trip? lol congrats on catching up and finishing! You faced the low and finished on a HIGH! Slainte!
That's an amazing looking ride -makes me want to tour Iceland.
You should!
Finished with a smile. Nice work.
It isn't over until it's over, well done hanging in tight Juliet!

👋
Wow. Love Iceland and this looks brilliant.
I enjoy the river crossing the best of all ....great footage of the race...you were in a race in Iceland before if I recall
Love Iceland ran midnight half marathon 2018. Love to ride this event have to have a think about it.
That looks so much more fun than my local route (Brixham, Greenway, Noss, Hill Head), which I blast around when I feel the need. Knew you would make the most of a bad start. Viking spirit, it is Iceland after all 🚴♀
So cool! Thank you for sharing.
That looks great well done
Thank god its not just me that can convert an electronic bike into a single speed! 🤣 Epic ride and another one to add to the list.👍
New to the channel and saw this vid on GCN. Loved it so much thought I’d head over to RUclips and like and subscribe. Love it! 👏
Damn girl you got some talented skill to ride no hands in gravel and your speed in rough terrain!
thanks. Doesn't always work but I've had a lot of practice!
That looks like an amazing ride
It was!
Glad you had a good ride despite the battery prob
Perhaps appropriately, your background music reminded me of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" (the 2013 version, _not_ the film from 1947)
Great video!! I just love your choice of music 👍🙂♥️
Thank you so much!
Some mighty nice gear, electric shifters hahaha, don’t know what that damn shark will do with it, might eat ‘em I suppose
That's epic scenery 🤩
That looked absolutely epic. Do it again 😬
I will!
Omg that looks amazing 😍
It was!
I always keep an extra battery on me - in case!!
Love you Julie

I think we all felt the same on those bloody washboards sections 😂

Very cool
M o r n i n g !
Did you try any traditional Iceland food such as fermented shark, horse or whale?
I tried the shark last time. Not up for eating horse (I don't eat meat) or whale
What a fab video 😁😁
How good are you? Just catch up to everyone, take a few pics, talk to your phone, finish 200kms. Sweet as, no worries. 😎Legend!! 🤘
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️
Inspirational Juliet .. you really are just amazing ..👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What was the time??
not totally sure. 10 and a half hours?
Would a cross country mountain bike have been better?
I also want ❤
I can’t believe how a bike rider of your calibre, experience can be so disorganised. You need an assistant to ensure your gear is checked
Damn, just shows how fast you are. Starting so much later and catching up to soany people.
Destroying the downhills :o you are quick on these, damn!
That one music part you added was bit annoying. Not gonna lie :p
Thats why i dont like electronic shifting gear!
We have lived to the point that bicycles without batteries do not work.
They also don't work with Flat Tyres, Snapped Cables, Broken Chains... All of these things (inc Batteries) I carry spares for and have tested plans on how to fix 🤓
Electronics on a bicycle.
What a load of bollox hey?
Just say no - keep bicycles analogue.
Oh dear oh dear, I'd like to say I'm shocked by the start, but I'm not.
Me neither
