- Hunting and shooting enthusiasts around the world remember Roy E. Weatherby for his ammunition and firearms innovations. Many also remember him for his steadfast support of wildlife conservation and ethical sport hunting. Today, Weatherby Foundation International helps preserve these memories and continue the man’s work on behalf of all hunters.
Formed in 1988, the Foundation’s mission statement is “to educate youth and the non-hunting public on the beneficial role of ethical sport hunting and its contribution to wildlife conservation”. It is one of the few non-profit organizations to focus its efforts and financial support on education outside of the industry.
Active in fulfilling its mission, the Foundation has become a leading proponent and supporter of Outdoor Expos and through its partnership with USSA and their Trailblazer program, is working to help develop and support these hands-on educational activities throughout North America.
Beyond its philanthropic endeavors, the Foundation serves as the sole sponsor of the prestigious Weatherby Hunting and Conservation Award. First presented in 1956, the Weatherby Award annually recognizes an individual for outstanding support of wildlife conservation, lifetime hunting achievement, and dedication to the principles of ethical sport hunting.
Weatherby Foundation International is a non-profit, tax exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code #95-4189071, and contributions are tax deductible.
I own several Weatherby . In my opinion they are the finest rifles money can buy .
As a young boy, I was introduced to Weatherby's fine rifles by my grandfather. Hunting and shooting was very important to me and always has been. In order to fall asleep, I would often read ballistic data and dream about what I thought was one of the finest ballistic developments of all, the .300 Weatherby.
I wanted a Weatherby so bad I could taste it. It was many years later that I purchased my very first out of four Weatherby rifles and to this day, The rifles and the pride of owning them, shooting them, and and even reloading for them takes a special place in my heart. I guess you can call me a Weatherby die hard. There was a marketing genius about Roy Weatherby. He was a true pioneer'and visionary of the firearms industry and its history. He was certainly a person I would have very much liked to meet.
This is sort of my story too. Like you I dreamed of owning even one Weatherby as a young kid just getting into hunting. It was also the .300 Weatherby with me, that I considered to be the holy grail of bullet evolution and technology, and that is what I had to have. Now I do, along with Roy's favorite the .257 Weatherby Mag. Another dream rifle caliber for riflemen and women everywhere. I rank Roy Weatherby with other top firearm geniuses such as John Browning and Samuel Colt. Now I own 4 Weatherby's and am purchasing a 5th soon. I've never regretted any of the purchases and I'll own them all the rest of my life.
Forever Weatherby!!!!!❤❤❤❤
I remember Mr Weatherby for his engaging smile, his ability to instantly make friends with just about anybody he met, and for all the things I learned from him. As a young man he was one of my hero's and as a 68 year old man I still hold him in my memories as a hero for me, and for so many people I know and knew.
i guess im randomly asking but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
I shot my first whitetail with a .240 weatherby in 1971, I was 15 years old. I still own that left handed Mark V. Its the longest I ve ever owned anything.
Waiting for my .240 Weatherby to show up soon!! I can't wait!!!!
My grandfather always swore by weatherby so when i got into long gun/ competition i bought the weatherby vangaurd in the mdt chassis and its nuts! My friends are so suprised because it is not a popular tac rifle like AI or Mcmillan haha! Wish the younger generation knew more about these rifles performance. Its like a not-so-hidden hidden gem
My dad built his first shop in South gate and I've been a fan ever sense. I'm glad they're back in the states where they belong. I know they will prosper. Good luck kids.
For what it's worth, there are 5 Weatherby Vanguard rifles in my safe from .223 to .300 Win. Mag. and they all shoot great! They're durable and comfortable to shoot.
Great rifles the best !....Bought my first one in 1957 a .270 WM Mauser action!! Now two Mark V's .300 and .270 WM. Very best.
proud owner of a .460 Mark V Deluxe... even did a popular review of it on youtube!
I just inherited my grandpa's Roy Wetherby 270 that he made with my dad's dad while my dad was hanging around as a very little kid.
my 460 WEATHERBY Saved my life on numerous occasions .. thank god for Roy Weatherby and his Rolls Royce rifles .
also a superbly accurate caliber the 460 and when combined with 6.5 - 20 x Leupold scope is a magnificent long distance rifle
I bought a Weatherby Mark V along with an already mounted Weatherby 3X9 telescopic sight and four boxes of .300 Weatherby shells back in the summer of 1974. The cost with the awful and abominable Washington State sales tax was just about five hundred Yankee dollars, cash on the barrel head. For that sacrifice I have enjoyed most of a lifetime of owning and using a fine hunting rifle in north central Washington and seven hunting seasons on the Montana plains and the Missouri Breaks that cut through them. In addition to eight pronghorns and numerous deer, I with the Weatherby wiped out both of two entire colonies of yellow-bellied marmots who were varmintising (Is that a word?) my employer's apple, hay, and cattle operation. In 1974 I received a Christmas card from Roy Weatherby and his son.
My favourite load is a 180-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip over 77 grains of IMR 4831. It moves.
A box of .300 back in those day in Hawaii was $12.00 box of twenty
Beautiful! Incredible! If I had a last wish, it would seeing this corporation flourish in British India.😯
Weatherby has always tried to maintain a high level of quality. Even their Howa produced models are held to a higher QC standard than the basic Howa branded models. Seems like folks either love or hate Weatherby but the day has come to the USA that you better be praying for every American gun producer that we have left. We going to need them shortly.
Great video! My first gun I purchased, over 25 years ago, was a Weatherby. Proud to be affiliated with such an awesome company. Keep up the great work.
257 Wby mag is my favorite, but would like someday to try the 6.5 x 300 Wby Mag
I adore my .257 WM. I too have a desire for the 6.5 x 300 Wby Mag.
Love my MRK V in 300 Weatherby. If I ever have to shoot something from a different zip code, I am good to go.
Awesome video!

Is a weatherby vanguard badlands truly a weatherby rifle?
Started In his garage in huntington Park
I want a 56A one day .
Weatherby should give credit where it belongs. Wendell Niles and his brother Ken Niles (huge radio stars of the time) believed in Roy, became close friends, and then Wendell and Ken introduced Roy to John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, Roy Rogers, and many others. Weatherby became the “high class” riffle. It’s sad that you guys don’t even mention them.
I’m sure if Roy was still alive he would tell you just how important the Niles family was to Weatherby.
If I know the real story.. then Roy’s son and grandson should definitely know it.
Wendell and Ken loved Roy and I think it’s shameful you guys don’t even mention a word about their roll with YOUR company.
I’ll always Love Weatherby just for the fact that my grandfather loved this company so much!!
pitty you brass is so hard to find and so expensive.
300 wby does it all
It is really to bad that they have gravitated to the fluted barrels where they cannot put open sights on them. And they have fallen far behind modern rifles in that they do not offer an all stainless Mark V version for Alaskan hunters.
