Hyzon Motors is a hydrogen truck company that went public by merging with a SPAC in 2021. Shortly after it went public it was exposed that many of their technical claims and reported financial results were fraudulent.

@wallstreetmillenial how can someone get in touch with your team?
Bespoke post is a scam. The stuff you get is not nearly worth what you pay!! ...how could it? The company wouldn't make any money.
As a finance person, you should know that yet you decide to be sponsored by the company, which is clearly a scam.
@@alphadawg81well this channel forte is scams
@@alphadawg81 I cannot say if it is a scam... but it sure looks pretentious AF.
@@davidc1878 I've never subscribed to these but I know people who have and generally they just buy merchandise that doesn't sell for pennies at the dollar, mark them up back to MSRP or higher, then "discount" them. Scam? Not really. Worth the money? Definitely no.
Had a friend who got a few with knives and other "guy stuff" from one such company. As a guy into knives myself, I knew they were trash immediately and just fiddling with them for a second was all I needed to verify. They weren't worth $5 much less the $95 (80% off!) the service was trying to imply.
Grab a snack and a drink, time for today's "merged with a SPAC" video.
Perhaps the common thread is kids, who may not be qualified to run a lemonade stand, being CEOs of multi billion dollar companies
SPAC is just another word for fraud.
Possible loophole here: that's a hydrogen-carrying truck that runs on milk.
You're describing me running around with a hydrogen tank now
Lmfao dude you killed me
Well, milk is 11% hydrogen

It's always a damn SPAC.
Can we please all stop investing in SPACs! More fun to just chuck cash into a wood chipper.
How about we find a way to make them illegal? (No idea of that's easily feasible) There is a reason IPOs require a lot of disclosure. Why are we allowing companies to just skip that step?
And usually a "green/environmentally sensitive" company
Trevor Milton ONLY got 4 years?!? How?
The difference between him and Elizabeth Holmes is she stole from the powerful and wealthy and worse made them look dumb
Trevor stole from retail.
She got 11 years and he got 4 despite him stealing at least 3-5x more

It’s mind blowing how little accountability there is for securities fraud. The severity of the punishment should be on par with the number of people affected by the fraud and how much they were affected. Just because there wasn’t any violence doesn’t mean people aren’t being hurt. For all we know, there are people who lost their homes because they were all in on that investment. Regardless, 4 years is not enough to get these criminals to stop doing things like this. People would be robbing banks on the daily if they knew they could pay off the authorities with the bank money they stole. Why these criminals on Wall Street get to keep doing that kind of BS just goes to show how the system is meant for the rich to succeed no matter what.
People who shop lift at a place like Wal-Mart frequently do more time in the pen than white collar criminals. And the white collar guys get to do their time in a fancy country club type of prison too. Money is all that matters in America.

Standard wall street technique - create a hifi looking company, file patents for their innovations, bring in celebrity investors, find legal loopholes (SPAC) to list on the market, then milk in the suckers!
Who are the celebrity investors in Nikola and Hyzon? What patents have the two companies filed? They're struggling companies that misrepresented (lied) to investors, but the rest of your analysis is flawed.

Anyone got a list of companies that used a SPAC to go public that weren't an outright scam?
It's almost like there may be reasons why some companies fail to go public via the proper channels...
Rocket Lab isn't an outright scam, although there is a significant chance they will never be profitable, cant think of any others off the top of my head. I think prior to the SPAC craze of the last few years there may have been a couple of legitimate companies that went public via SPAC simply because they could get a better deal that way, but I would never put money into one today.
I think I have a complete list right here in front of me. The page is blank.
DJT and OKLO, maybe. Probably some others I don't know about.
love this channel. but that ad was bad
Man gonna feed his kids
I like how their original customer map at 3:53 even has a note at the bottom which basically says "We made all of this up, none of these companies actually bought anything from us directly". SPAC-mania really did make investors completely blind to the obvious, didn't it?
I'm sorry... the Bespoke Post ad segment (and their business model by extension) seems so bad... On one hand, this is excessive consumerism to the logical extreme. You don't even have to select the garbage to buy that you're never gonna use. On the other hand, it's an excuse for them to sell you stuff they got at a discount that they weren't able to sell off otherwise.
For most other channels I would let this slide, but we should hold eachother to higher business standards here. Love your content

THIS! I get it that yters gotta get the bag but I feel like they should be more *selective* with who they get their sponsorships from
@hbryster96 the sad truth is they don't as advertisers will only want to advertise if it's within their audience and they don't make any money via ad revenue they make money through referrals typing in their name and code and such, in fact for every 10k views a video only earns between 1 penny and ⅒ a penny, depending on the channel lol so they take what they can get because they are lazy and don't want to get up for a real job that they otherwise can't obtain legitimately, being a dumbass RUclipsr reciting shit any computer to come up and compiling the same information everyone else has without the experienced contextual understanding to explain it all really is dumbing down society, WSM seems to be able to say a shit ton without getting to the point or saying much of anything, I've gotten so frustrated when it takes 30 slow talking minutes for this kid to say 3 minutes worth of background info

He said in the video. They used a diesel truck and pretended it was one of their hydrogen trucks.
The city of edmonton in alberta is suing an ev company by the name of proterra based in california for 82 million dollars for providing faulty ev busses and false range estimates.
Proterra declared bankruptcy, so Edmonton is unlikely to see a penny. Volvo Trucks acquired Proterra's battery business.
Nikola was going to use Proterra's batteries in its hydrogen Tre trucks, that deal is in jeopardy. Nikola already had the fiasco of using batteries from Romeo Power for its battery Tre trucks, acquiring the company to avoid its supplier going bankrupt, finding out Romeo Power was a scam company, and liquidating it for pennies: and then four trucks caught fire so all ~380 Tre trucks are sitting outside the factory in Arizona.
Large EV ‘s are so far away from being efficient. It’s hard to believe no due diligence was done before spending that much money….
@@yankees29 a large EV still travels further per kWh than a comparable diesel vehicle travels on the same amount of energy. Blowing fossil fuel up to make a lot of heat and a little forward motion is fundamentally and inevitably far less efficient than putting electricity into a battery to power a motor; size has nothing to do with it.
@@skierpage it does but it also costs a lot more to make and they take a long time to recharge.
I saw a Nikola semi on the road the other day. I thought it was weird. I didnt know they had ever brought an actual product to market.
Nikola converted about 380 Iveco S-Way trucks to battery Tre trucks, and counted sending them to dealers as sales. But then the batteries in four of the trucks caught fire, so they were all recalled.
Meanwhile it has made about 40 hydrogen fuel cell Tre trucks. It will lose money on every one it manages to sell, and will lose even more money supplying hydrogen to them.
Then you see edison motors. Posting videos semi daily showing their entire building, testing and first drives as well as the problems they have faced. Now they are renovating a shop here in northern bc to build their electric logging and vocational trucks.first load was 100,000 lbs it towed on flat ground with no gimmicks.
next year it will be "Enride Motors, like Hyzon but Worse".

I haven't seen all of the videos on the second channel but the ones I have are great!
Superb work you're producing! Congrats to your small (for now) Team!
They should be plug-in diesel-electric hybrid type trucks for immediate mass deployment but then the option to slap a fuel cell and hydrogen tanks on it at the point where that makes sense as an alternative to diesel… once you electrify the drivetrain it’s easy to reconfigure the power source because the requirements are that it be a generator, essentially.
There is no new technology here - fuel cells , electric motors etc. have been around for decades. It should not have been difficult to establish the basic workability of this kind of proposed design. At least to the level of what could be written on a cocktail napkin.
Converting a diesel truck to hydrogen is a worthwhile 2-year project for the engineering school of a 2nd-tier university. But a very expensive vehicle refueled at non-existent hydrogen stations with extremely expensive fuel never made economic sense as the basis for a startup. Just more Hydrogen Economy™ hype.
imagine if some company does these trucks right
No one would believe them.
A real win for planet earth.
The way to do a hydrogen truck right is to increase the size of the battery that it needs to compensate for low fuel cell power, to the point that it doesn't need wimpy fuel cells nor extremely expensive hydrogen from a non-existent refueling network. Hydrogen is dead for land transportation, It can't compete with battery vehicles that are cheaper to buy and much cheaper to operate.
Glad to see more people are starting to talk about Hyzon.
Why is it so hard to convince Heineken and Coca Cola to stop carbonating?
Bet these guys would like a do-over. Maybe they'd be interested in the time machine I've built. I have MANY orders pending!
What is this hype with hydrogen trucks? As I know, fuel cell buses, cars and trucks exist since over 40 years and companies like Hyundai produce these in there regular production series. Are those investors so uninformed?
In short: yes. Whenever it comes to anything technological, assume that most investors don't even know how to start their own pcs without help. Especialy when basic physics and chemistry tells you that they are an inherently inferior product, which caanot be overcome.
i havent even watched this yet, i just laughed so hard at the title and thumbnail
bankers made and got to keep the money.......the more things change, the more they stay the same
i work for a company called vistar which is owned by PfG and we literally have a couple of hyzon trucks on the road i would say they started driving them very recently like a month ago we are located in fontana ca they had news crew to show off a bit
Nice... Good call on turning the camera sideways. Very sneaky indeed.
The guy in the thumbnail looks like a cross between Trevor Milton and Lou Pearlman (con artist who also successfully promoted boy bands).
I’d like to see a video explaining the difficulties of powering vehicles with hydrogen field cells. It seems they tend to constantly crash and burn and no one seems to be the wiser.
hydrogen is the issue. creation, storage, transport. "Hydrogen Will Not Save Us. Here's Why." from the channel Sabine Hossenfelder
It's very simple. Anyone with even a basic understanding of math and science will look at the kWhs required per mile traveled of HFCVs vs BEVs and how expensive and energy intensive it is to produce, transfer, and store hydrogen to realize it is a dead end and always will be. Investing in hydrogen is a trap for the stupid.
I dont understand why they just don´t build a working truck. Building a FCEV is dead simple.
This video doesn't mention it, but Hyzon has had trucks with a working hydrogen part too. It is NOT dead simple
What I don't understand is that it seems no one was able to make a truck that runs on hydrogen. You can run engines on hydrogen so it is doable. OFC the issue becomes more about cost, support etc. But I don't get why, with all of that investment capital, they could not manage to at least retrofit an existing truck to run on hydrogen. WTF? Could it be that none of these companies ever actually intended to produce anything?
Milton got 4 years and kept the money.. a giga Chad
Are ALL Spacs scams???
Pretty much yes. I mean, why else would you go public in a way specifically designed to circumvent normal regulations?
It's a bit like a loan shark. If you have collateral you can post, why would you not just go to a normal bank that is happy to have your business?
All of them, except the Trump one, he is a super honest skilled businessman who would never engage in fraud and have his university shut down, his charity shut down, get fined $350 million dollars for fraudulent business practices by the state of New York…
Yes. The answer is yes.

Hydrogen makes sense for large scale fleets for long distances. Its weird that they just wont partner with Japanese manufacturers

Why would they need to partner with Japan when the U.S has other hydrogen companies🙄
