53 yrs old, Dead Head for 40 yrs…. 22 Jerry shows… Countless other iterations… I never “got” PHISH…. This vid has left me dumbfounded!!! And my hometown is Worcester….. 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Had a friend who was a Dentist in Mass. Had fun with him in the late 90's- early 00's. Loved Cheese, LOVED MOE. Saw many shows with him in Austin. Met up with him one last time in Mass for this. He died 2020, Jan. He loved the Phish. Fun guy, RIP ADAM!!
Bret Tolivaisa They were way better when trey would just hammer off 100 notes without thinking about where there we going or what they were actually doing musically.
maybe they can't do it on a nightly basis, although 2014 is proving that wrong, and sorry if this doesn't sound like 1993 phish, but this jam is as rocking and good as any boogie on has ever been, if you can't see how awesome this is then you should probably just give up on phish and listen to your soundboard recordings from 1993
alex, i never stated i don't love this boogie because I do the (good) jams just show up much too infrequently nowadays, and set I is just a throwaway warm-up set, even during the better shows
In my top Phish jams for sure. You just can't not love this. The energy is absolutely fucking nuts. The peaks and valleys and the wave is absolutely fucking mind blowing. What a great band...
Toured heavy from 95-98 during the Funk Era. Was at a show in Philly and a black security gaurd was basically chilling with my crew. They jammed this song out and mid jam the black guy said "Gawt Damn, this shit here is whats up!" Then he completely forgot he was a working security gaurd and started getting down with the rest of us. The Funk was undeniable.
Man, I saw these guys twice in 91 and 92 and I never heard them perform this. They took one of the greatest R and B tunes ever and turned it into a freaking rock opera!
I cant think of any other band where u can actually hear both the bass and lead guitar so well maybe some funk from the 70s and 80s but nothing like trey and mike
Agree i kinda fucked up by hitting a 3 day phish fest in noblesville as my first ever concert so after that every band iv ever seen pales in comparison a few were good a few were pretty damn cool but none touches a live phish
Just discovered this gem here on RUclips. This was one of those shows I just happened to be front and center on the barrier. The blissful smiles between Trey and Mike when the groove just jeeps groovin' on is one of my most memorable live-in-person Phish moments ever.
I can't tell you how many times in the past week I've watched & listened to this...I hate the word perfect but F me is it amazing...they're just firing on all cylinders in this...and yeah, that look Mike & Paige share at 8:21 in says it all. It's like their giddy with how awesome it is...best band, still...
I'm trying to think of a version that's better. I'm going into phish shows and SCI shows that I've been to, from the 90's to present day, and I can't think of a better version. I keep coming back to this one
I'm back 5 years later to say I remember at the end of the song I turned to the dude next to me and I said, That was the best boogie I ever heard, and that's still true to this day.
Why do so many people have to compare everything phish does to the highlights of 90's? Personally I love 95' but I listen to it all and find the progression of their music insane. For me that's what makes them so special and unique. I love the first set throw away comment. If you go to these shows hoping to get a one song face melter you've missed the whole thing. Its not about that one show with that one song that blew you away. For me its the progression of the show through the setlist and how they can take control of the audiences emotions.. Those moments when you take a breath and look around and everyone is locked in getting down seemingly together is why I go. Good or bad phish brings me on a journey every time and every time its different and special. But that's me... im grateful for the PHISH
fUNK fEST Because phish had had three seperate periods and people always compare them to what they were exposed to first as,a frame of reference to try and explain how good what they're seeing now. People do it with lots of bands. When i started seeing phish in 94 there were phans that didn't like how songs were getting longer as loved the short, tight machine gun fast in and out of songs wherean entire set would be two to three minutes of songs constantly hoping back into and out of escort at a rapid pace. I love 95. My favorite year. I know people that hated the funk, well i wouldn't say hated, but thought it was too slow. My favorite shows were in 2000. Not my favorite year, but a perfect show in 2000 when they utilized ambient, funk, lots of notes, mellowness all came to perfection. Like grateful dead for me. Only got to see them in 95. But I was exposed to 74 and 77 first so that's what I set my standards to. But i recognized good. 83 was awesome. All of 1989 was on fire. 2003 had some of Phish's best jams. When 3.0 started I thought 09 and 2010 were off a lot. They started to feel it again about halfway through 2011. I just think the legacy wad weighing heavy on them when they came back. 2013 was fucking awesome and they've built up every year since. Their shows aren't as,pin point accuracy as, the 90's but their sound is so full and I've never seen them having as much fun as they are now. And they combine everything they've learned over their career, so when they play a good jam nowadays, which is all the time it's fucking amazing. No band jams like Phish. But it did take a, while for 3.0 to take off. But you'll get no complaints from me about where they're at now. Trey doesn't stay up till 4 in the morning trying to think of something new to do for each show like he did in the 90's. I think that's how he got burned out and they split. But that's why the 90's, shows were always so flawless. Now they're comfortable again, having fun, and it shows. And they're type 2, jamming is better than ever
Ian Finnneman right on. My favorite shows are 99’ 2000 too. And you’re right about half way through 11’. Those uic Chicago shows proved they were clicking from there on out.
Really good performance. I think this is a very concise example of what Phish does. It's creativity, energy and spontaneity bundled up in a freeform art.
Love it! Definitely one of my favorite cover that Phish plays! So PHUNKY! I put this on to listen to while I did some work on the computer and ended up getting no work but I sure did jam out!
Nice one.I like the 99' Chula vista one better but I was at that one and that always makes it seem better where I wasn't at this one. Austin 98 and Las Vegas 97 where the best shows I saw.I haven't seen a show since Big Cypress.
One of if not THE best BORW I've ever had the pleasure of listening to...super jealous of everybody who was there..looked like a rager of a show for sure
Opening night, June 7 2012. Worcester MA DCU Center... sorry u missed it, Great show, period. The QUALITY of the band was perfect, no missed notes or flubs, plus the only indoor shows of the summer tour, this and the next night... funny I don't even remember 6/8's setlist, but THIS night, play buried alive torn n frayed, funky bitch, ocelot, possum from set 1 and carini ghost boogie if I could Quinn buried alive reprise from set 2 (pretty much the whole second set, trust me). You'll love it.
besides the great setlist, here is what i remember: bunch of people pissing in the hallways of the higher levels as there's like 9 men's bathrooms in the whole place and 2 wooks got busted by the cops in the parking garage with *MANY* pills (saw cops shaking pill jars) and i fucking saw them in the show. no idea how they pulled that off. absurd. too bad there's no hijinx for us this summer.
This one blows my fuckin mind every time!!! SO good!! I'm happy to see there is a good video of it. I wish there were more shots of the crowd though, sounded like they were going wild!!
Absolutely Freakishly Fantastic Rocking Out Hard Version Of BOOGIE ON REGGAE WOMAN! I Mean, Stevie Wonder told the 4 members of PHISH After This Show, WOW, So That’s How BOOGIE SHOULD BE ROCKED FROM NOW ON,
Thought everyone in the balcony was going to fall over the railing. Great version and great energy to start the tour. Summer tour 2012 and Fall 2013 runs in worcester were rippin!
we go ba ba bedada hell yeah i love this little jam Boogie hardly ever has a funky jam rift but here it does at 6:30 onward and upward to the stratasphere what a glorious ode to Stevie the Wonder he is
Still super good and fun! This was early on my own phish story. Wasnt a super fan when I attended this show. But this sure helped start changing that for me. Still top rated over a decade later
Phish is amazing, but Trey Anastasio has some kick ass solo stuff with his band. Check out - Trey Anastasio Band - Push on till the day -- Live from Bonnaroo
This is one of those grooves you never want to end, ever.
Damn right!!
Just keep hitting the replay button and problem solved. 😂

"I'll take 'Jam Bands' for $1000, Alex"
"Alright, here's your audio clue..."
Trey absolutely rips on this. Probably my favorite jam of 3.0 I saw.
this is a mike jam
4 nerds who get down, my god this is gold.
proof that Phish is as good as they've ever been
not even a shell of themselves, sorry to disappoint you

In my top Phish jams for sure. You just can't not love this. The energy is absolutely fucking nuts. The peaks and valleys and the wave is absolutely fucking mind blowing. What a great band...
This is my 2nd fav boogie on. Check out the best imho. m.ruclips.net/video/2gjmTJaQsFg/видео.html
This is a Stevie Wonder classic from the 70's.
@@themajicman745 I’m aware of that, thanks
I'll never tire of this.
Kevin Lanigan how could you?
Kevin Lanigan yep
The greatest Boogie on I've ever seen in real life

Lucky to be alive at the same time as this…..these amazing masters of the universe! Love them and all of you! Get your groove on! ❤❤❤🕺🏼🔥🙌🏻
Love how at 8:26 Mike is in lock step with Trey and looks towards him and smiles but Page sees him and smiles
Find someone who smiles at you like mike smiles at trey when the jam is right!
Voice of REASON nice catch!
Just pure love

Pretty sure this is my most viewed video of all time. Literally my favorite piece of audio on the planet, never fails to put a giant smile on my face!
Watching it 1-1-24 so I start the year off right!
mike is so ridiculous. i really dont understand how he does what he does. hes perfect

I've been listening to this band for many years now and this is one of my all time favorite jams. SOARING.
Listening on this 12th anniversary
A finely tuned, well oiled machine there.....
I still talk about this show whenever Boogie On comes up in conversation
As a bass player, it's hard to find a guitar player who will be the pocket for you to really groove.
Welcome to Phish 😉
I Love the Bass Line in this , just perfect ! 💨💨💨
Just so good.
