To be fair, it’s all plausible. Cops would shrug over ODs in the 90s and early 2000s. Saw a lot of stuff that should’ve been investigated be met with a mighty shrug, it was really frustrating. Also unless you grew up on Dateline/Unsolved Mysteries, true crime media was easily missed or so over the top that there really wasn’t a lot to draw info from.
