Idk why people don't do that in the first place. It's the best option. It works perfectly in 2k. 100-106 with 40 seconds left, foul them, it's 100-104 with maybe 32 secs... you hold onto the ball, maybe run out the shot clock, 100-104 with 8 seconds left... foul them, they make 2 free throws and now it's like 5 secs left... run out the clock, game over. This is even assuming the team that's up doesn't score at all

I would be ok with fouling when up by 6, but anything less than 6? No. You give up Free Throws and if you get a turnover trying to inbound the ball or something on your next possession, you’re cooked and now you can’t foul and have to rely on the other team missing. If I’m up by anything less than 6, my strategy would be to do whatever it takes to get the ball out of the best player’s hands. I’d even be willing to leave someone else wide open for a three. I’d rather they beat me, than the best player getting to their spot and doing whatever it is they do best.

Only problem with that strategy is that you gotta continue to make shots as well. You try that strategy and go into a cold streak shooting and you are gonna bail on that strategy so fast.
Not really. You just go back to the line if the other team wants to try and win the game. So it becomes a FT off.as long as you believe in your ability to make FTs you’ll be good

What they are saying makes sense and I don’t know why more coaches don’t do it, but if the teams start doing it, I think the league needs to step in and stop it. Final moments are the best part of the game and if we start turning those finals moments into free throw battles on both end, that makes it very boring.

Stopping the clock helps the team making comeback IMO. When leading, you are playing score and time. Game management.
If you’re up 6 with like 30 seconds left just foul the other team. They’ll shoot free throws and then you hold the ball next possession until they foul you. It’s not just about time. It’s about having the opportunity to run the clock down when you have have ball

I think the best solution to all this is to make intentional fouls worth an extra free throw: worth 3 free throws for a two point shot, 4 for a 3 pointer.
Well no coaches are actively fouling like they should.. so until they start using the rule to their advantage more there wont be any changes
A solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. It would also be a slippery slope to differentiate between intentional and reach in fouls. It takes away strategic fouls and creates more problems in tight games.
I don't agree with the idea in general, but it's also easily exploitable by just doing a reach in foul. You can argue it's not intentional

In Europe that's the most normal strategy. And winning by 3, if the opponent has only one possesion, we do faul them too. We do not allow the rivals to shoot a 3. Foul and two free shots. And then they have to decide to fail the second on porpuse or not.
No, in Europe, it's one of the most advanced strategies. Took multiple guys with 200+ iq to make the play up, lebron is on a different level of nba iq.
I think your best bet against Luka is guarding him one-on-one in a disciplined manner and hoping he misses some shots, especially the difficult threes.
