@Jpeg_Graphics Jay, you put up an awesome work on the table. The fairytale like story behind and the vibe was to the point. This was tough choice between you and Daniel 😊
This was such a sweet experience! Loved getting to interact with the team and Jay and hearing everyone's thoughts on the work. Truly a great competition. Thanks for having me on!
@danielmejia8175 Daniel, your work not only looks and feels premium but also embodies that ethereal, magical potion vibe all throughout. Those understated colors are my favorite! If I saw that on a store shelf, I'd be easily drawn to that bottle. Like Will said, your etched art is impeccable, and you have mastered this rare trait so young! This week's was a neck-to-neck competition - enjoyed and loved it
I have to disagree, and I know you called out your bias, but I think your bias overshadowed a lot of things. Don’t get me wrong - I think Daniel definitely did the better work, especially with the typography and mockups (please recreate that happy mistake; i need to kno how). However, Jay’s concept was far more on brief, even though it was rough I love Daniel’s process and how he incorporated the elements he found. Still, I think he went down the wrong route - medieval England is not a great source of inspiration for a Chinese/Korean product. This is highlighted by the use of a chalice (prominent symbolism in british myths) in the logo. I also would say the concept was too clean. From the brief, it sounded like the hard kombucha drinks were a more fun, alcohol-friendly line from a brand that usually does holistic, healthy drinks. Daniel’s concept seems more fitting for the original product. Again, this is AMAZING work, just for the wrong product Jay’s work was really rough. There were mistakes pointed out in the video - I’m sure the one-week time restraint and being unaware of kombucha didn’t help. Jay’s work did fit the brief better though. It was good to find a historical, cultural touchstone for the logo, although the mark may need a different perspective. The colour palette also fits better with the market of competitors mentioned in the brief, although the use of dark colours with vibrant ones will surely stand out In the end, while I know this is more about spotlighting great designers than getting them to compete, for me, it comes down to this: I’d rather have a rough job on the right track than a masterpiece that doesn’t match. Either way, you both did some awesome work! Especially considering you only had a week! 🏆🏆
Both were certainly worthy of the win. I liked Jay's Moon Rise brand more as the colors and design would stick out on the shelf at a store. Also, I always appreciate extensive research and when a brand as meaningful story to it. Great work by all!
I would agree with that analysis. Jay's work is, imo more eye catching, both close up and from a distance. I really like both for different reaasons, but from a personal opinion would go with Daniel also. Jay's work for some reason conjures memories of the film 'Warriors of Virtue'.
Hats off to both designers, both very well done. Daniel's I got Kahlua type vibes from the design. Jay's I got craft beer vibes from that. If it were my company, and I got either of those designs, I would have been very pleased with the designs. I didn't envy Will and Sam on making a decision on this week's battle. Congrats to both designers, again, excellent job!
As a graphic designer myself and especially a logo designer, I absolutely love both of the logos. The idea that went behind to design such remarkable logos are truly applaudable. Love the series! Would love to see more of it. 🤙🏼
Incredible yet very different designs from both! 👏🏻 Jay’s design is more inline with something that would catch my eye as a consumer, but I appreciate the effort and skill shown by both. Loving the series so far, Will 🤯
Hey Will, a fellow graphic designer here. I was wondering if you would ever do a video on Affinity’s graphic design tools. I think most of us graphic designers probably use Adobe but just recently Affinity had some great deals on their own tools that compete with Adobe. So far I love them a lot. I think they fix many issues that Adobe ignores yet are missing some features that I often used in Adobe. Affinity is absolutely great for a lot of us who are more hobbyists than professionals who don’t have the budget to buy a steep monthly subscription that Adobe requires. I would love to see a big face like you use Affinity (maybe for a challenge series or something).
i like the style of these series very much, also the two guys are full of creativity. also will's comments just teaches me much about typography i'm looking forward for a typographic logo challenge to be more unique to will's spectrum. thank youuuu❤
First off. I am loving this series Will. Secondly, these designers were so talented! Please charge more. You're worth 10x the amount! And as Will would probably say. "Hats off to you".
What a concept from both! and as a fellow logo designer, i too has a problem with the impostor syndrome issue! But i agree with Will, they NEED to increase their price!
TBH I like the first one more, it's more evocative and mysterious and elegant, BUT I'D CHOOSE THE SECOND as I see it sexier and more like a hook for the eye. Both amazing in my opinion.
Definitely what I was going for! I thought my design would JUMP out at people on the shelves more! But 100% Daniel’s logo was more elegant and polished 👏 Glad ya like our work 🥳❤️
I liked Daniel's design better because I felt it fit better with the age range of buyers. Unlike the guys, when I think of kombucha I always think of something refreshing and I would have added that aspect to the design.
Just a little thing, when you work with foreign language you have to be very careful and better ask someone who knows about it. The Chinese text 茶 is missing a stroke line.
Daniel's design - The medival themed design was something that I will keep it in my collection but it felt more of an alcohol brand than a norm drink. Anyway, I will love it. There's a secret charm that I can't resist to buy one. Jay's work, on the other hand, was very cool - had a good mock ups 🤌🏻 but as said its the one that I will look up in super market. Just want a work Dan's design + Jay's communication and mockup process 😭
I relly loved both logos, i likenthe uncoventional thinking that went into both logos. But I do love Daniels work alot, kudos to Jay's but it kind of feels like an Anime, just saying
both logos are really creative and well done. the only issue with Daniel's logo is that the letter "i" really looks like a "j" to me. I get that it suppose to look medieval but maybe it would be better to simplify the letter so it would be more consistent with the other letters and also easier to read. but great logos overall!
What a nice format! For a jung Graphic designer its very educational to see you guys discuss the designs and see the process of these designers . And its always good to hear for me to charge more, i just made a logo for 300 bucks.
Guys you are freaking talented. If you want to be professional you have to charge at least 100 bucks per hour. I guess you worked 2 to 3 complete days on this within the week so lets just say 20h. So 2.000$. Add on top to that the longterm value you created. I would charge 2.500$. Take on 4 projects in a month of that scope and you hopefully earn 10.000$. If a company even startup is not ready to invest 2.5k in their branding Design, they are not serious.
I don't think pricing in this challenge makes much sense. How much is the work worth to Will? How does the designer calculate that? Obviously Will isn't ready to pay as much for these logos as a company should be into theirs, so the designer would just have to guess a random amount. Thus making the pricing pretty irrelevant compared to regular work.
both of them completely nailed the brief!! and such solid different directions!! but i must say my jaw dropped when i saw Daniles logo with different lockups!! Also i am really curious, if i wanna participate? how would i be able to beacuse it is a absolutely fun challenge?
Hi, I love this stuff except the grid and video feeds aren't aligned properly because of the uneven size and placement of the grid behind. Please fix this. It's taking too much attention. I don't know if it's just my OCD, Let others say what they think about it. I love this channel. ❤️✨
I think it would be amazing to get someone to be the client, someone who you are designing for, with different ages, tastes, etc, that has a interview in between the week to discuss ideias and define a path.
Wow really loved the winning design. I couldn't get my head around the Chinese writing and rabbit though, Id just think year of the rabbit by looking at it. What would you recommend for hardware and software for a beginner who might want to practise logo design as a past time hobby. Thankyou
Definitely understand what you mean, thanks for the feedback! I figured the Chinese-esc theme was nice as it stemmed from the fact Kombucha originated there. Keeping to its roots with a modern twist? 🥳
The challenges should specify the product price, stores where will be sold and not only the age of the demographic but also the buying power, habits, life style etc. A cheap fun drink sold at Walmart would be different than a fancy divine drink sold at a boutique even if they are called the same and taste the same.
Both designers created impressive work. However, the fact that Daniel used of a non-custom typeface significantly diminishes the overall design quality and perceived value. But visually both are stunning!
I think Daniels design needs a little bit of fun and strong shape language, otherwise it's beautiful. Jays i just think confuses the brief, especially with the chinese characters that were never explained. It immediately, to me, looked more like key art for a video game. The inspiration from the moon hare is nice, but the visual style didn't really convey "mystical" or "celestial" to me, it just didn't fit the brand well enough. So to me the winner is Daniel!
I love Daniel’s logo more too but I must say I’m not the biggest fan of the color palette, or at least the use of it, especially the purple logo on purple background it lacks contrast and interest to me, it doesn’t enhance the beautiful logo he created sadly 🤧
I really don't want to be disrespectful and i know most of the participants are beginners and only have a week but I think all the designs are bad (like not horrible but bad in a way that it isn't special, no personality, no passion). I studied graphic and product design and now although I am a product designer and brand owner I still do some graphical work, I don't think these works would make people or companies hire them. Maybe i am wrong, again i don't want to offend.
Very nice work of you both! The presentation of the design and process from Daniel was so cool and inspiring! 🫶 thats so much value in this works. Get your worth guys! 💸

way to rep ATX!
superb talent.
Both guys did such a great job! What they charge is insane to me. Even for a "simple" logo only, I don't charge less than $750.
I have to disagree, and I know you called out your bias, but I think your bias overshadowed a lot of things. very much
Yoooooo i challenge you
In my opinion, mockup demonstration is the most crucial element to do in our works. It gives our design more value in every aspect of it.
This is such a cool concept for a show. Feels like im back in college during critiques where i learned the most. love it
5:41 you can see the logo already designed at the top right corner of the portfolio hahahahahaha
haha yesss what an easter eggg
I have to say, I have not enjoyed watching RUclips this much for a while. An amazing video for real! Please keep this series up :D
Glad you're enjoying them!

Again, jaw dropped to the floor with their pricing. Just wild they aren’t charging 10x+ more.

Hey Will, how does one become a contestant on your channel? I'm very interested.
Just read the bio of Daniel, he's an intern for Pentagram says a lot
How can we enter for a chance to be one of the battlers?
mr beast : who would create the best logo for 1 million dollar.
I charge £50 only, and I am always scared saying that amount (thinking it's too much and I will loose a potential client)
I really need to learn about this technique used at 9:28 . Anyone know where I can?
Search for golden ratio logo design, it might help(? I think Will has a video about that.
Golden ratio would probs be what to look up, but I used this technique with circles and the shape builder tool to get perfect curves, works a treat!
Both designers created impressive work. However, the fact that Daniel used of a non-custom typeface significantly diminishes the overall design quality and perceived value. But visually both are stunning!
