I HATED country music for most of my life. I am a rock/blues guitarist, and I always saw country music as silly. I heard Keith Urban for the first time two years ago, and he blew me away. He is such a good singer/songwriter and a fantstic guitar player. He introduced me to the talentented side of country music.
This is one damn fine song and highly under rated, with its haunting melody and slinky guitar riff, it's a master piece. I thought it would of been the one he needed to break out over here in Britain but noooo, we remain a nation of gangsta rap wannabee's who just don't get country.. damn shame
While I do agree that Brad Paisley is probably more skilled, i think that Keith Urban is far better (maybe one of the best) to really express the lyrics and feel of the song through a guitar. He can express more emotion than any other guitarist I've ever seen.
it's not about how fast you can play, it's whether or not you can squeeze every ounce of feeling out of every note, keith does that better than most...
i know exactly what you mean. In fact my mom was just working with Kenny Chesney and he was getting really drunk before the show, i dont think he deserves the high praise he always gets. Keith Urban should be the reigning entertainer of the year.
i think everyone can agree the weather has been colder than usual. It makes my body, mind, and HEART feel cold n alone, but songs like this about summer make me feel alive again with that warm hearted feeling.....and i close my eyes and one more time were spining around and ur holding on tightly :)
I saw this show in St. Paul in May. A buddy of mine's company produces his tour. According to my buddy, he's the nicest guy in the business. Nice to see good things happen to good people. Never in my life have I seen a performer hold an arena (Excel Center) in his hand like Keith Urban. A true class act.
i'm sure everyone can agree that this weather is depressing. The cold leaves me feeling alone and sad....but when i hear songs like this about summer, my heart skips a beat and i have hope and i feel HAPPY....and i close my eyes and one more time were spining around and your holding on tightly :)
I like kenny, carrie, sugerland, name it!, But this song is eerie, hunting........ phucking off the hook, his best work yet!. just can't get it out of my head. truly a masterpiece....GO Keith
This song seriously brings a tear to my eye. It is so sad... they lyrics, the guitar, everything tears me apart! It brings back memories of past summer relationships and how sad they ended. It also makes me think about the person I am with right now, we got together right at the beginning of May and I never want it to end. Ahhh such an emotional song!
I remember seeing him in Houston at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion back in say 2000 or 2001...playing in front of literally a scattered crowd of 250 people on the side stage...and I said to myself...DAMN he can play that guitar! That statement still holds true! Best country singer in the biz today if you ask me! I love my rock music...from Alice in Chains to Sick Puppies...but Keith always drags me back to my roots!
My girlfriend just moved from home to go to college 5 hours away. This song relates so well to me right now. We've been together 2 awesome years and Keith really found a good song to relate to people with
omg.... Only guitarists like Keith can "feel" the music and let the rhythm flow unlike most show offs today who call themselves talent just because they can pick up a guitar and play random notes and think it sounds good... bull I want music whether it be country, gospel/christian (my personal fav), rock, hard rock whatever.. I want it where I can feel what they are feeling. Great job Keith, may God bless you :)
(Continued from above) Instead of sampling the musical smorgasbord like I did in my youth (I’m 55) and in turn influencing youngsters like Keith and Brad, kids out there are instead being programmed by a greedy and cynical music industry to like one kind of music and only one. If it’s not Lady Gaga then it’s just not worth listening to. It is really very sad. Well done Keith for producing such a beautiful sound with this song, but you deserve to be heard by a much larger audience.
Thanks so much for posting this video. Keith is the best performer I've ever seen. I have all of his music and never tire of listening to it. But seeing him live is a whole other level!! His guitar playing is amazing. I've never seen someone evoke emotions out of a guitar like he does. Plus his vocals...he pours his heart out every time. How does he not winner Entertainer of the Year?!
Listen carefully everyone, If you would all notice Keith's equipment, that's a hiwatt dr103 head and wem cabinet behind keith, and he also has cornish pedals in front of his feet, it's not merely coincidence that he's using a lot of the same gear as david gilmour.....and if you listen closely, you'll all hear a hint of 'gilmour's bluesy tone and string architecture.......I always wondered why i was drawn to Keith's music, now i know why........
@ SunburstTeleman - thanks for the suggestion of Tumbling Dice - AMAZING - he can play anything and turns to great - his guitar speaks his soul...who needs words
I'd have to agree. Keith definitely knows his way around 6 strings, and Paisley also does good not gettin lost. But i couldnt decide on a better of the 2. I like both their styles alot, as a musician.

that riff already contains all the feelings described in the lyrics. this is mastership.

This is the song that got me hooked on Keith's Music.

not much different between recording and live! He is amazing!
Definitely my favorite Kieth Urbin song. The first time I ever saw him I think it was on the CMA awards, I was amazed at his singer/player ability.
Keith is amazing as always!! Jerry Flowers has an amazing voice too. Love that old beat up bass he is playing.
Fantastic preformance!
I love the guitar in this tune... and keiths leads are flawless!

he's one of the very few artists who usually sounds BETTER live
I had no idea Keith could play the ax like that. Wow! Outstanding version of this song.

Love whatever he sings. From 3:45 on just gives me shivers!
Much better than the official video version.
LOVE this song. So poignant and evocative of the end of summer and innocence. Reminds me of Bruce's "Sandy (4th of July Ashbury Park)"
So under rated as a guitar player... and here in the UK hardly anyone knows his stuff man!
bad ass guitar solo at the end! Keith is awesome!
