Yeah bro they live everywhere from Nova Scotia to South America, but the Chesapeake Bay in Baltimore is a breeding ground for em, and that's why Maryland is known for their crab cakes.
@@johnself90To add on to that fact , its is also well known that crustaceans from cooler waters taste better than in warmer waters. So the cooler water that covers those upper south states like MD ,VA and DE will have better tasting ones than those from the gulf .
@@pacobell97 I mean I've never had any from the Gulf, the Bay was only 45 minutes away from where I lived up there. So we'd just go down and go crabbing on the weekends. I know that I had crab cakes down here in Georgia and they are not the same, not even close. I did put a few people onto Old Bay seasoning and they love it lol
I also was wondering this. I’ve no issue whatsoever eating animals - seafood is actually my favourite! But, it seems really unnecessarily cruel to remove the shell and cook them without killing them first! X
You should try grilled oysters in the shell. The shells form a perfect pot for the oysters to steam within themselves. A little butter, lemon, and Texas Pete (or a hot sauce of your choice), and you've all set 👍
Planet is dying. Used to catch crabs as a kid off my shore house dock, life was all around even along the lagoon walls. Can’t find a single thing alive these days :(
Man I grew up in Florida, live in Maryland now and have lived in like 8 different states. I’m all about incorporating things I learned in those states into my daily cooking. I have boiled, steamed, grilled and even made gumbo with the crabs I have caught here lol
Not a chef or seafood expert here, so this is just a genuine question: why season the crabs on the outside when none of the meat is exposed? I assume the shell isn’t meant to be eaten since he doesn’t eat it in the video
Best oysters I've ever had. On the half shell cooked on the BBQ in their own juice and a little sea water. Then served with a touch of lime & lemon. Just in case you do oysters.
I know this sounds crazy but listen to a NB-Northern Atlantic Canada...if you have hickory smoked streaky bacon and natural ground pork collecting the lard/oil in a bottle when cooked/fried/air fried then air fry lobster/crab/clams in that oil-collecting enough to cover the seafood--OMIGOD....sooooo good especially if you season the oil first-hot sauce-garlic whatever Add a cork and air fry your octopus for a chewier without rubbery texture or wrap the octopus/cork in tinfoil with collected seasoned pork oil---works for cuttlefish as well
I say next time you clip the backfins horizontally (behind them at "the hinge") and slice through the middle long ways to "butterfly" it cross cut. Apply seasoning, repeat. Try a smoker? idk man this is fun.
grilled soft shells are great, too -- melt some butter with a little mustard, and baste those bad boys as they're cooking... a little charred at the tops of the legs. yep. good stuff.
My mom grills them in a foil pan. We clean them, poil oil in the pan, add corn and craps. Add breadcrumbs to the center of the crabs. Season with old bay.
What is the best time of year that you catch the most? I used to get about 5 or so blue crabs per trap (Mount Pleasant SC) but now get 1 or 2 if any at all. Maybe the heat outside or over fishing here, but still have my hopes high.
He makes it seem like removing the gills is a choice you should never eat gills theyre dirty as theyre used for breathing and supposedly taste like dirt
Yeah, I’m looking and I’m questioning this. I’ve just said on another comment, I’ve got no issue eating animals - seafood is actually my favourite. But not dispatching them first is unnecessarily cruel x
Might I suggest dropping a piece of chicken in there without the trap just like occasionally throw some scraps in there and see what shows up (bait them)
Let me tell you out here in New Orleans we boil our crabs but we grill them too and it's nothing better than grilled crabs with that garlic butter but you need to put some Parmesan cheese on there!!
What's wrong with eating blue crabs?? Every time my boyfriend and I go to North Myrtle Beach/Cherry Grove, SC, we bring our traps and catch as many as possible! Then we obviously cook them up (he kills them because I just can't do it lol), they taste soooo good
That one crab pinchin the other's butt, "I told you Ralph that chickens dont normally live in the sea!" Ralph : "Shet ehp Georgieeeee!"
Ralph didn't listen, was too proud to do so. Ralph ended up in some crab cakes. 😅
@@sniffles8655rip Ralph

If something's too good to be true...
Put a chicken liver in there along with the drum stick, the smell will travel a lot farther
we always did chicken livers in an old sock tied to a sting as kids when we didn't have crab pots or nets
My Gramps taught my brother and i to use chicken necks and chicken liver, always worked like a charm
@@ericmoran2474 Necks work the best for sure!
Nope.. Use Pogies. I worked on a commercial crab boat just outside of New Orleans for a couple of years...Trust me..
@@ernestturner915 fair, nothing beats the smell of a half rotten pogie
I as a born and raised in Maryland can say that I am not upset and they look super good
while i was alarmed at first, i can respect a new style. the lack of old bay was still an affront to maryland though
Lies. Looks all wrong.
Looks good! We get good blue crabs down here in Florida! Love your content always makes my day better when I see a new vid.
Yeah. We do. That bay is a loving mistress.

You live the life man, you’re always eating good
That one crab was pinching the shit outta the other crab in the cage like "I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE TRUSTED YOU AND CAME IN HERE BRO" 💀💀💀
love the vids, its nice to see some more marylanders enjoy crabs in different ways
Were the crabs alive or did when you separated it from its shell?
I also was wondering this.
I’ve no issue whatsoever eating animals - seafood is actually my favourite!

It looked like he forgot to kill them before doing that, you can see it still twitching if you pay attention 😅
@@vtriksta2858 Not just cruel, but evil. There's no reason for it. People who keep them alive are selfish and in their own little world of indulgence.

You def wouldn’t be upsetting Asians. SE Asians love grilling shellfish. I particularly love Vietnamese grilled clams.
You should try using hotdogs as bait. Works as well as chicken.
Chicken liverrrr
No surprise as it's Also meat.
go ask the local seafood and meat department for something stinky out of their throw barrel - free and effective
You do realize they're often made with chicken, right?
at first glance i thought it was mark rober
Planet is dying. Used to catch crabs as a kid off my shore house dock, life was all around even along the lagoon walls. Can’t find a single thing alive these days :(
DMV here! Born and raised IN Maryland and baby I’m not mad at all ! This look BOMB ASF
If you soak crabs in salt water for a few hours before you grill them they will stay juicy
But they live in water already….
That's cool. I love the crab footage ... when are people in Maryland going to learn how to drive?
Ive only ever had snow crab and king crab.
This channel makes me want to try all crab.
I eat those all the time. Blue crab. The kind in the video is much better. You get a lot less meat though.
Only way to cook crab is boiling them in SEA WATER. Perfect saltiness. And you taste the sweet meat.
Man I grew up in Florida, live in Maryland now and have lived in like 8 different states. I’m all about incorporating things I learned in those states into my daily cooking. I have boiled, steamed, grilled and even made gumbo with the crabs I have caught here lol
This looks so good, never had grilled crabs tho.
Try using bunker, I’ve always had luck, catching a lot of crabs with that, and less so with chicken
Not a chef or seafood expert here, so this is just a genuine question: why season the crabs on the outside when none of the meat is exposed? I assume the shell isn’t meant to be eaten since he doesn’t eat it in the video
Definitely try some Dungeness crab it's by far the best
I always found that when grilling crabs it's best to pull the legs off just before the body is done. Otherwise the leg meat will be super dry
You did an amazing job
I’m sure it’s a learning process to get temp/time right… those definitely look worth it 💯

Would love to see you do a collaboration with Luke McFadden and the Southern Girl FV. Maybe a day on the water catchin n cookin
Those Blue Crabs looked tame. I lived in Southern MD and they were mean but ...tasty :)
I say next time you clip the backfins horizontally (behind them at "the hinge") and slice through the middle long ways to "butterfly" it cross cut. Apply seasoning, repeat. Try a smoker? idk man this is fun.
Try grilling soft shell crabs...They are really good on the grill.
Very nice, one of my favorite ways to prepare blues
Do a video making crab bruschetta
Looks delicious and I'm a MARYLANDER and a steamed crab eater.
They look good. That’s on my to do list this summer 😊
Hi Am from Maryland and only reason id be mad is that fact that none of those crabs were touched by old bay that's a little horrific
Lovin it......sounds like pier crabbing to me....sweet.....
grilled soft shells are great, too -- melt some butter with a little mustard, and baste those bad boys as they're cooking... a little charred at the tops of the legs. yep. good stuff.
I remember I got to spend the summer of 2001 on the Chesapeake bay just crabbing and fishing all day
That was a great time ❤
Those look amazing 🔥
The gills are the best part
And ya shoulda used Old Bay 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Can nearly smell them from here yum👌
how long did you grill them for? i wanna try this but i dont want to overcook them
Maryland are here had no problem with this it was fine we eat blue crabs in multiple ways as long as they're absolutely delicious
Dam bro this looks fire!
My mom grills them in a foil pan. We clean them, poil oil in the pan, add corn and craps. Add breadcrumbs to the center of the crabs. Season with old bay.
Hook and arrow is my favorite hot sauce, especially that flavor s/o CT baby!
Those look delicious 🤤
Pan stir fry with some butter and lemon amazing
Omg I can't wait until the kiddos get older to experience apart of my childhood ❤❤❤

Those crabs looks delicious but the bays in trouble with that being your best catch
How were the claws? Were they cooked all the way and how was the texture? Dry or moist?
Gotta use butter and Texas Pete as a dipping sauce. Changes the game.
HOLY SHIT!! It's Michael Owen
He makes it seem like removing the gills is a choice you should never eat gills theyre dirty as theyre used for breathing and supposedly taste like dirt
I suck the juice and sometimes eat the gills 😂😂😂idky but it be good when you get a bushel of them from store
Is it good or bad to consume them?
Eating the greenish shit but not the Gils is CRAZY
I think the only thing the Marylanders are gonna be upset about is that you're having crab and there aint a lick of Old Bay in sight
Looks amazing
That one crab that looks like he’s shanking the other crab
As a Marylander, I not saddened that u grilled the crab. I'm more hurt u didn't use Old Bay. 😂
Yeah as a Marylander I’d just like to know he dispatched those crabs before peeling them back other than that irdc
Yeah, I’m looking and I’m questioning this.
I’ve just said on another comment, I’ve got no issue eating animals - seafood is actually my favourite.

Bro, you are Captain Maryland. The Marylanders upset you
Might I suggest dropping a piece of chicken in there without the trap just like occasionally throw some scraps in there and see what shows up (bait them)
That hot sauce looks good
Hotdogs and peanutbutter work real nice
This man is a menace to the local crab population
as a marylander i’m upset but i can’t deny, that looks delicious 😂
Bro you got try the michilada style crabs trust me perfect for grilling when it’s scorching
Making me hungry for crabs❤
Locals talking about resources vanishing before their eyes is the most terrifying shit it always gives me a genuine moment of anxiousness.
It’s definitely a down year for me but crabs are known to be cyclical. Hopefully it’s just a down cycle
Let me tell you out here in New Orleans we boil our crabs but we grill them too and it's nothing better than grilled crabs with that garlic butter but you need to put some Parmesan cheese on there!!
Do a video of what guitar notes taste like, im interested.
Not upset. Good job👍
As a Marylander I approve. Looks Juicy.
The one crab said "bro, is chicken of the sea, just follow me". They are no longer friends...
😂😂 this man finally caught the crabs 💀
I’ve yet to learn how to eat these things and I’m from Florida!
Crabs go crazy over an ear of corn
this guy eats so much seafood , there’s no doubt he is just had packed with micro plastics at this point 😂
Hi from New Orleans, try garlic, Parmesan cheese, and butter. It’ll change your life.😂😂😂😂
What's wrong with eating blue crabs?? Every time my boyfriend and I go to North Myrtle Beach/Cherry Grove, SC, we bring our traps and catch as many as possible! Then we obviously cook them up (he kills them because I just can't do it lol), they taste soooo good

Looks yummy
wow very interesting
Why would the stuff be left inside?
If you've never tried it try smoking the crab in some chili butter it's ridiculous how good it is.
Gochujang, sesame oil, little soy and vinegar. Top with flakes of sesame oil. 👌
Ain’t nobody in Maryland gone be mad at that 😂😂😂
Not enough Old Bay!!
Upset some Marylanders? Huh??? Love me some blue crab boiiii
who knew mark rober had a cooking channel
From Maryland, I don’t care how you cook so long as you give me piece
How’d you kill them before ripping them in half?
Good stuff
What was your temp on the grill?
Florida methods of cooking crabs are unmatched
from baltimore….would eat
Pair that with some cold spinach balls and you got yourself a pool party
