Hardly any tank in the jet mode, and the turret completely concealed. No jet whatsoever in tank mode. A cartoon accurate robot mode. How is this possible? This is an incredible design, they must be literally wizards.
It’s not the first time, the designer of this figure has made transform element and deformation and they all look completely toon accurate front and back.
Blitzwing must be a nightmare to try an engineer a new version of his figures. Having to figure out how to fit a Tank, Jet and robot mode all in one figure.
DX-9 Gewalt is probably the best version of Blitzwing. The tank is a bit cartoonish, but the jet is probably the best recreation of a MiG-25 Foxbat ever.

I’ve been on an MP binge lately - 17 new ones this year - but this guy is easily MP of the year for me. It’ll take something crazy good to knock him off that spot.
When you’re in tank mode there’s two personnel hatches on the top that actually slide out board and “thoop” into place to clean up the top surface of the turret.
Instantly bought this after seeing the review, finally got him in hand today and he’s amazing so far. Transformations are simple and feels solid. On top of that he looks amazing.
I've been waiting, hoping you would review and do a transformation tutorial/guide for this figure. As always, you didn't disappoint. Thank you, EmGo, you make my experience with Masterpiece scale Transformers so much more enjoyable.
I mean, Blitzwing's jet mode (which was a MIG-25) was never the most aerodynamic aircraft, it essentially was a flying brick that couldn't turn well and could only snipe with missiles What's ironic is the MIG-25 was the reason the F-15 Eagle was developed, which is what the main seekers (except the coneheads, but I wouldn't call them 'main') use as their alt mode, meaning the other seekers are all better than Blitzwing in the air
Awaiting FansToys' decision to start work on what is it, the 4th iteration of their Blitzwing? Technically we've already seen this company before. It's the design head from Deformation Space.
I wish they gave him MP-44 style skirt flaps that would move out of the way for his legs. A small addition that would make the articulation so much better.
I personally think that Startoys did quite an unexpected job at making their own version of Blitzwing and he is absolutely SPOTLESS! His jet and tank modes are almost nowhere to be seen in robot mode plus the jet has no tank pieces and vice versa!
I was waiting on this review and possible magic square Bruticus (if you plan on getting it).. I received my copy of this Star Toy a couple of weeks ago and totally agree.. very impressed with their work on this.. Best Blitzwing out now..
I have the DX-9 Blitzwing, and I love it, buuuuuuut I still might get this one, too. You can never have too many sculpts and transformations. More Blitzwings just means more fun.

Considering that Fans Toys has taken so long to even update anyone on the progress of their Blitzwing, I'd say that this clearly has stolen a bit of their Thunder$$$. For me, its going to take a ton to convince me to swap this guy out for whatever FT comes up with, if they ever get theirs out the door.
In videos i saw, the purple panel that slides inside the chest is supposed to be left out for tank mode and it sits flat across the crotch and clears the ground, and leaves more clearance for the head. That's what I do for my copy and it works
there's clearance for the head either way, but that's a good tip. This is why there needs to be proper instructions included with these things so there's no confusion with how things work.

Your video being the 5th actually showed me the black panel on the knee for the first time.
So I was really looking forward to getting this figure when I saw he was up for preorder. When the figures started rolling out I saw quite a bit of QC issues with him. Unfortunately mine was one of those that came with issues. I had a couple minor scratches which weren’t a big deal but the big problem was he was missing a pretty important pin in the knee joint. Whenever I would bend him at the knee the leg would just come right making it impossible to transform or pose. It took a while but they sent me some pins for it but even those aren’t the right replacement pieces for it. They kind of fit but there’s still a tip of it that peaks out a bit. Anyway..that’s my rant and I’m looking forward to finally messing around with this figure after all this time.

I just got my startoys commander aka blitzwing today. Its the most accurate g1 masterpiece Ive seen and it didnt cost an arm and a leg either. He was one of my favourite characters from the transformers and I am very, very happy with him 🙂
This does look good, and I especially like the tank mode. For me, I would have picked this up if it just had a little panel lining / details, its especially lacking of details in Bot mode. That's fine for those Toon guys out there, but I prefer more details on my MP figs. So I'll be keeping my Dx-9 until (if ever) Fans Toys finally releases their verison. I will say this design looks like it was actually based on the original Fans Toys design. The backpack in Bot mode almost looks exactly like those original FT promo pics they released before scrapping that design and going for the full re-design.
Oh and hey emgo can you do a g1 devastator review I’ve seen that you have one but you haven’t won a review on it so could you do a review on g1 devastator?

I seen that cool car/awfull part forming helicopter (forgot his name) and I cna't spell her name but that spider girl who had part forming spider mode and a helicopter. Unless I miss an actual new triple chnager both I dont feel is really these a real triple changer. Not sure why no one makes the 2 triple changers in the Bumblebee movie become real? They just made 2 dif robot with the 2 modes. That would be cool to see. Or just make any new tribple changer or make a better 6 shot type where all the alt mode look like the actual alt mode.
Like FT copied Newage for their Brawn, I’m sure they will copy ST for their Blitzwing, I’m sure that’s why they are waiting so long to put theirs out but other than more paint, ST nailed it on a MP Blitzwing!

I had some QC problems with my copy, apparently it ranges from really good to piece to crud. TBH, I still prefer the DX9 one over this. But there are some people that will defend this toy to the death even though there are problems with it. it's 50-50 on the board with people liking it and not. I saw the damaged/stressed nose cone ball joints on your copy to and the springs on the treads can catch you, plus I knew that head had clearance problems in tank mode and it kind of rubs up parts in there to.
Mine came with a couple minor scratches but a very important pin that was holding the knee together for one of the legs. I just recently got a replacement pin from ShowZ that barely fits and kind of peeks so it’s not flushed into the knee as clean as I would like. 😢
So far the best 3rd party Blitzwing figure… until FT Berserk comes out (whenever that is). Gewalt has the better jet mode, Ditka has the better jet mode. This figure is like a perfect MP scale of the G1 toy.
Hasbro should buy one of these, take notes, simplify where possible and then give us a new SS86 Blitzwing that takes some design engineering inspiration off this toy, because the Legacy figure is a joke.
This is a $120 unlicensed collector's item, the Legacy figure is a $55 mass-produced toy aimed at kids. Different price points, different standards, different sizes.

I like that the foot actually transforms to become the thrusters.
Theres really effort in the design to not just make it look like a transforming robot but to look as accurate as he appeared in the cartoon.

This is like an improved X-Transbots transformation. Tab clearance could use some work though but nothing future releases can't fix.
