That's great these videos get posted. I stopped by my old high school coach thirty years after playing and asked him whatever happened to all the game film. He said over the years he threw it all out.
I went to this game as a young kid. What stands out was Haskin was under pressure the whole game. His brother was a WR if I remember correctly. Haskin had made the mistake of saying Jones was going to win because they were smarter than Yates. Man the Lions were breathing fire. Haskin took some punishment. Yates could have beaten Rice University this night. They were up 20 to 0 at the end of one. Great game and great years. Ledet was nice! Sam Alix
Man that took me back...sophomore year at Jones.I was in the band and though we lost the game...we threw down at halftime. It was the first time that we broke out Zapp..More Bounce to the Ounce.
Yates drove Jones that night. Both teams were 8-0. That’s back when only one team went to the playoffs. District runner up and 3rd meant nothing. Jones popped yack all week. “Jones to the Dome, Yates go home” Final score Yates 42 Jones 0
