Lots of good advice in this Alex! I wondered if you would mention the Spanish name for them when you showed the really excellent Jelly Fish Flags. It b really like the Welsh name for them (Pysgod Wibli Wobli - Wibbly Wibbly fish 😂)
You can't imagine how problematic is the situation with pink jellies in Corfu island...there are thousands of them so we have to be careful when swimming...!
Got stung in cala esmeralda 2014! Always remember people shouting jellyfish it wos like a scene from jaws everyone out the water! 🤣 But honestly the sting lasted hours if treated and would never stop me going in that beutiful sea!! 🍹🏝
Jellyfishes, jelyyfishes!!!, everyone out of the water now!!!!!! A man deep inside the water: heeeelpp, im sorrounded of them, just Alex can help me!!!!!!
Just got back from alcudia, I'm the type that gets bitten to death. I made sure to put jungle formula extra strong on before going out for the evening, and never got bit once!!. Looked like a greasey chip though 😂
I’m meant to be going on holiday to club Mac alcudia in 3 weeks, I’ll be 28 weeks pregnant and the mosquito situation is really stressing me out that I want to cancel. Especially with the worry of Zika virus!
Great advice & information. I didn't get bitten once when in Palmanova a couple of weeks ago but got loads when I visited Venice. Maybe the mallorcan mosquitoes are fussy eaters ! 😂
i life on Helgoland island ... i did not get more than 1 or 2 bites a year here. so when i am in alcudia we stay in places whre you can`t open the window anytime without getting swarmed and my girls having heavy reactions too the stings, cause we are not used to mosquitos i think!;) but at least we found a nice Appartment where we stayed for years, and where i even can stay on the balcony at night without getting blood drained !;). absolutly love it . for curing a sting i like to use a heating stick, think its called bite away. instant relief. I wanna open a market shop with these bite aways for the tourists. we try to buy one on mallorca and cant find even in the big stores But what i really want to know ... why the heck i never seen a single fly screen anywhere???? really i couldnt understand ?? to open a window at night wouldt be sooo damm good
Working as a singer at hotels around the island, and I’ve been getting bitten SO badly as we’re performing on the outside stages more often now 😭 welts that are up to triple the original size of the bites
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun will defs try and get my hands on some, thank you! Singing at a few hotels in Cala D’or, Palma Nova and surrounds, and Alcúdia. We’re at Club Europa tonight 💃🏻
Just returned from Port de Pollenca. Had two weeks on the island and visited Alcudia, Port Alcudia, Palma and Valldemosa and didn't get bitten once in two weeks. 😀 Last year in Arta (again in June) I had a horrendous time, with around 30 bites. The difference? I reverted back to Jungle Formula Maximum Strength, rather than last year when 'somebody' packed the Dry Protect Europe version. 😅
Take some repellant, you'll be fine. But also wear it! People are getting bitten bitten often because they are not wearing repellant. You will have an excellent holiday.
Jungle formula max strength, mozzys love me I didn't get bit once, or the rest of my family fantastic stuff. I sprayed it into my hand and rubbed it in, it stinks though

Lol - just make sure you use what you’re taking with you ! I have loads of repellent but forget to put it on! Have a fantastic time 🤗
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun 🤗
Thanks for that, I think prevention is better than cure.
Oh for sure. So many people are getting bitten not wearing mossie spray! But it has to be worn!
Great information as always Alex , thanks for sharing it with us 👍😉
Cheers Ian! Hope you’re well !
Thankyou for this.. see you next Wednesday onwards in pnova 😀
Save travels over !! Look out for me !
All good and very relevant information Alex.Take care out there everyone

Thanks so much Tommy !!
Thanks Alex
You’re very welcome Carmel !
Good advice Alex. Trousers and long sleeves also help. Best wishes, John
Absolutely - overall best to keep a bit covered up and they’ll move onto the next people with bare arms and legs

😂😂😂that’s brilliant !!
Good grief, what’s it like now (September) we’re heading to calas de Majorca on Sunday 😬 and I react badly to bites as it is!
Come prepared !
You can't imagine how problematic is the situation with pink jellies in Corfu island...there are thousands of them so we have to be careful when swimming...!
Absolutely, they are a pain, literally!
There was a lot of compass jelly’s in the waters of alcudia and puerto pollença 2 weeks ago
Not good at all

"A scene from Jaws" LOL . The beach in Illetas in this video. We actually went swimming in it this morning, saw one jellyfish, but it was fine.

In Santa Ponsa at the moment and have been bitten several times even with spray on.
Which spray are you using? You might need the jungle formula.

Chris lol ! So long as it worked that’s the main thing!
Just come back from cala dor got stung while in the sea at cala gran beach
I’m really sorry to hear this 🤗
Just back from acludia, got a few bits the last few days after a big thunder storm. Not bad but enough 😂
It only takes a few for them to be really annoying :(

I would say do whatever makes you comfortable. I can't guarantee if or when you will get bitten.
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun is there Zika present in Mallorca alcudia?
I blame the tv show Friends for the pee misinformation lol. was just in palma nova for the week and didnt even see a mosquito.
Ha yes, It’s such a popular misconception!
I bet the Spanish tourist board love you🤣
😂
I’m in Alcudia & I have been really badly bitten. Never experienced anything like it, being bitten all through the day.
Great advice & information. I didn't get bitten once when in Palmanova a couple of weeks ago but got loads when I visited Venice. Maybe the mallorcan mosquitoes are fussy eaters ! 😂
Hahaha I think it’s not so bad Palmanova way af the mo compared to other areas of the island !
We've had loads more bites than usual.
Tried all the usual things to prevent as well.
Not good at all :(

They do have them. Amazon, Leroy Merlin, but I never understand why hotels don't put them in!
Working as a singer at hotels around the island, and I’ve been getting bitten SO badly as we’re performing on the outside stages more often now 😭 welts that are up to triple the original size of the bites
Also, I have very sensitive skin so the repellents sting 😭 haven’t found a good solution yet
Oh bless you - I think you’re being bitten by tiger mossies
Have you tried taking vitamin B supplements - ask at the pharmacy - btw where abouts are you singing ? I’ll look out for you
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun I had no idea what they were called, but I googled them just now and I have definitely caught a few of those!😭

Use SSS avon dry oil spray original also homemade repellant made with essential oils lavender lemon and rosemary..works a treat😊
Haven‘t spotted any jellyfish yet. But ‚biting‘ fish in Paguera

I think if you’re susceptible to bites getting anything to light just won’t work! Of course many people who are getting bitten aren’t wearing spray !
We're staying at aluasoul in alcudia and I can honestly say I've never been bitten so much.
Im so sorry to hear - are you wearing anti mossie spray?
We are in Siesta 1 and it’s awful, being bitten on my face. Using repellent, plugs, antihistamine & cortisone 😞
Lying in my garden in Gateshead I got 6 bites 😢😢😢 and I’m booked to go to Corfu 😮 .
Gateshead has mossies - no way !! I Ioved across the river for quite a while - maybe the midges have flown down ! Enjoy Corfu!
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun , get bit every year
My husband got 6 bites in one evening in Alcudia old town. Me at the beach
Yes bloody jellyfish I got stung in June
They should probably have the yellow flag up with the jellyfish fish flag dosent make sense having the green one up
It’s a bit of a mixed message right. I guess the swimming conditions are safe but with a presence of jellyfish - I don’t know
Big drawback
It is but it’s Summer I guess 😢
Not looking forward to Alcudia at all now 😞 🦟 🪼
