Mah, dogs are better
Apocalypse Plough i'm been to Istanbul many times, most cats look bad and dirty, skinny kittens, still only strong survive, it's a hard life. Cats are much better treated in the west where they look cat, when seeing istanbul cats I still feel.sad for them and try to give them food, they need help, it's still turkey and not a good place for being cat
Only the strong survive can be applied to other people and animals and other countries too. I'm Canadian and we put to sleep way too many cats here because they are just unwanted. It's heartbreaking. I will bough to the people who know Turkey best. I have never been there.

Dude, that's remy from ratatouille
Here in Sweden I was given a kitten by my uncle, though I wasn't allowed by my dad to keep it, so we had to leave it at my grandparents place, where it was born and everything.
My grandpa is a farmer, he owns a big farm and has many problems with rats. Rats so big they killed her, my perfect little furred angel... The only remains I found were what was left of her tail. I feel nothing but sorrow at not being able to convince my dad to bring her with us home and sadness to have lost her.
Now I'm a plumber, I see rats bigger than dogs in our capital city. Every time I see one I charge at them and try to stomp and kick them to death. Kill rats before rats kill loved animals.

People are always leaving food out for cats, birds, and other animals. In my neighborhood, a lot of older women go to the sidewalk every evening, call the cats, and feed put food out for them.
I love how mediterraneans all share a special love for cats but especially turks! Look how happy and comfortable the cats are there, they're not scared and feral like they are in the west.
It was really strange and a little bit sad when i first realize that most of the cities in Europe (maybe all of them i do not know) dont have cats or dogs in streets. 4 years of my life i lived in Istanbul and it was my routine to pat a cat before going to work. Cats just sit there with their full stomach most of the time and wait to be patted. The residents of the place i was living, they were looking well after the cats. Even cats do have name and they are like a hearwarming piece of life in Istanbul. After i started to live in Wien, i realized that how beautiful to have cats around. Do you feel angry or upset ? No problem just grab a cat and pat it.
I'm from a village in Germany where you can actually see cats roaming outside (they usually belong to someone, though). Guess in bigger cities they keep them inside because it's "too dangerous" to let them outside (traffic etc.).
the cats that grown up in home conditions cannot handle traffic etc, but in Turkey, situation is really different, you don't see Amateur cats on highways often, even if they go there, ninety percent of our people cares for them, well, there are unfortunately jerks too
We’ve got a ton of stray cats in New York, we don’t really take care of them and they don’t really trust us so they tend to run when we try to get close....(they’re also a bit mean but I know it’s cause they’re scared)

Not just shelter. Some are even... you know... put to sleep. At least that's how it is in the US according to what I've read about it.
@@Antyla it's true. Once shelters reach capacity and new pets come in, some are put down. Too many unwanted pets here, yet people continue to let their pets breed and add to the problem. I had to learn that myself after my dog had puppies. When you know better, you do better.
@Altair in some country (example: Australia) stray cat hunts endangered birds and small animal under protection there, but idk why in europe or america.. People there hunt street cats+dogs just to put them to sleep after the shelter reached capacity :"(
It's not that they're 'not free'. Theres just too much cats and dogs that are not kept in proper home and because of that they're killing many native animals (especially cats). Of course it's amazing to have cats everywhere, i think like that too once, but i'll also be sad if other animals become endangered because of them.. if we don't want more animals in shelters, we should stop letting them breed too much and give the ones that already exist homes

Around 1913, British culture influence pressured Turkey to put all cats and dogs from streets in a boat to an Island where they died horribly from hunger, ostensibly to combat diseases by stray animals. Then WW1 happened, and Ottoman empire was destroyed, leading people to thinking Allah cursed Turkey for killing cats. It is rumored we make up for the error now.

@@mtark9988 most people think we are arabian but they don"t know that we Turkish people opened our arms to arab people to stay our country but that doesn"t make us arabian.
@@jack-li7lh Not most of us. Don't generalize people. And also that's racist.
Thank you Turkey. Love from Australia.
Thanks love from İstanbul 😚
As an animal lover from Sri Lanka, i ve always loved and respected Turkey and its beautiful, compassionate people.
My mom was working in Turkey for a while and by her story, it's not just Istanbul that's filled with cats- most of big cities are actually!
And apparently they are bigger, fluffier and more vicious than the cats here in Europe. She said Turkish cats are basically little tigers. ^-^
Yep you can find even Van or Ankara cats. Which are quite beautiful cat brand and selling so expensive in abroad. Their eyes can be different like one is blue one is green. So beautiful
yea they are always get fed well you can find water and food bowls every corner for animals
They're even taken care of in the winter, getting shelter in the mosques and are being fed well.
xxmessymindxx yes it’s like this in Morocco Malaysia and Egypt. The cats run rampant
Umont12 That’s what happens when the religious founder is a cat person. Seriously, Muhammad loved cats, saw them as the quintessential pet.
Cat: meow
People of turkey: *he is speaking the language of gods*
OMG SO TRUE
Hahahaha 🤣
İt's not like , we just Love them so much and respect them
But its really funny i must say🤣🤣🤣
No no you mixed that up with Egypt 🤣
I love what was created because of the creator.. You should understand this first...
ok that was funny but another thing : turkish ppl only believe "Allah" as a god.
I was surprised how comfortable animals looked in Turkey! Turkish people must be so kind towards them!
In fact, we are generally warm people, we feel a strong connection and loving to animals which always warmly behave us and we do not feel much good to left such creatures hungry and alone, they are all valuable for us because they love us, as a friend. They make us up.
I’m a Turkish citizen and a cat in front of our apartment gave birth to 6-8 kittens. We bought food and made a shelter for the cat and the kittens. I adopted one of the kitten and now I’m living with it for 8 months .
sorry if my English is bad.

I live in Turkey and my way home from school is 20-30 minitues, i am seeing 20-40 cats while going to home
The Hagia Sophia cat Gli sadly passed away :(

The alley cats keep pests under control. Thank God for VERY KIND PEOPLE that shows compassion and love for those homeless ones. It is so GOOD to read of KINDNESSES in the world that is so sorely lacking.
Hope I'm not stupid, but how do they keep pests under control?
Crowbar, cats eats rats.
okay
Young Raines Gophers, rats, large insects, snakes.

New York City should get rid of the giant mice problems by having bunch of cats patroling streets
alex lagg
Are you serious ?
They might kill the cats and come after you
I think even chemicals not enough strong for them
You need Shredder, to defeat Master Splinter.

Love to Turkish people from Hungary.👍❤️😻😻😻
Rest in Peace Gli
Turkish people have all my admiration and respect!!!!!!

@@FriendlyCroock mate I get that you're angry. My country was once a colony and we were oppressed for years, but the people that made the mistakes are now long dead. The people in Turkey who live now never made the mistakes you hate them for. Why judge them for the sins of their fathers? We've had a horrid past but the only way ahead is together. Live and let live
They don't think very highly of women though...
@@FriendlyCroock how about when England and France colonised countries and did the same? Or when there was a slave trade in America? Or should I mention how they colonised America in the first place? Or we can talk about the genocide of Jewish people by Germany? Every country has a bad side and Turkey is not an exception. Not better, not worse.

I don't care about those because I keep hearing about them. There are countless of films about them that the entire world watches. They are even ashamed of their own history.
The turks and their president however deny that their people ever did anything wrong to anyone. And that is the difference.
That man who wouldn't take the sleeping cat off his scooter deserves more praise then words can convey.
That kind of stuff happens all the time in all Turkish cities 😂🤣 it is just normal for the Turkish culture. During 1930's the gardeners asked the founder and the first President of modern Turkey Mustafa Kemal Ataturk for permission to cut a huge tree which was growing towards a Presidential guest house 🏡 he said no and made plans to move the entire house instead of cutting that tree and the house removed. Sounds strange but it is just the ancient Shamanic Turkish culture which to this day still alive in the Turkish culture, daily life and traditions. That is why there are so many cats and dogs in every city town or village in Turkey.
This is heaven. 🥺
This is amazing tho like imagine the people of your city being so dedicated to cats. A beautiful and incredible idea
Adoring public. That says it all. Thank you for caring for all the cats and kittens.
Im from israel and i vist İstanbul last year

There's this documentary out about Istanbul cats called Kedi. Its really good.
Kedi means cat in Turkish btw
KNIGHTPLIER Does it now? :)
yes i reccomend the documentary too
KNIGHTPLIER Pişik means cat in turkic launguages.
@@kuykasamjoktar6191 that's not true :) you could call them pişik but it's like calling your cat purry, it's only a "cute" word to call cats if you're overjoyed about petting them. The true "official" word would be kedi.
Harikasin 😇😇👏👏
