I hate what they are trying to push with this movie. The original taught young ones normal human decency, like for example Snow White helping to clean up the house because she's there as a guest. Now they have her abuse the badly animated dwarfs, orders them around and helps not one bit. She shows the most toxic behavior and they all smile like they were mentally challenged. What is Disney trying to teach here? That such behavior is not only ok but empowering to abuse their happy demeanor? No parent should go and watch this movie with their children. It's sickening

Fairytales were stories passed down through generations. I heard them as a child from my grandmother, who herself had heard them from her elders. These tales are more than just entertainment, they carry the values, morals, and lessons. In Germany, these stories hold a special place. Cities and regions take immense pride in being the birthplace of these tales. For example, the town of Kassel is associated with the Brothers Grimm, they got famous by collecting stories from all around the country. Even today, fairytales inspire children’s series, video games, and operas. Now, Disney is claiming that our stories are outdated and is altering them to fit their woke modern standards. I don’t claim, that it matters what color the dwarves are, and personally, I don't find it to be a major issue. In fact, I’ve never come across any mention in the original fairytale about the dwarves' ethnicity. Historically, dwarves were inspired by real mine workers, most of whom were children. These children remained small due to the harsh labor conditions that stunted their growth. In the fairytale, dwarves are depicted as small, human-like workers, but they’re not actually human. The real issue, however, is that Disney has tried to turn them into a "woke" group of almost exclusively full-sized people. This shift not only strays far from the original source material but also diminishes the unique characteristics that made the dwarves distinct in the first place. In doing so, they are changing a piece of our cultural heritage. This is our culture; these are our stories. When they are taken, modified, and presented in a way that distorts their original meaning, it feels like a form of cultural appropriation. Peter Dinklage wasn't mad about Disney hiring dwarf actors, he was mad HE didn't get hired for one of the roles because Disney wanted to give new actors a chance. In the gorgeous and compelling 1970s production Juliette was played by Olivia Hussey and considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. Once again Zegler is pitted against a woman who blows her out of the water. Hussey is utterly captivating. Zegler is utterly annoying. How does she keep getting cast? I will never pay to watch her in anything, ever. The new Romeo and Juliette will also probably be woke. Especially since no one understands English anymore. I grew up adoring Shakespeare and the old movie is one of my favorites. We now however live in Idiocracy.

There’s a local guy whose name is Dean. He’s a little person, and full on embraces the Tolkien dwarf life. He works as a blacksmith and shoes horses. He’s an incredible artist and craftsman. This explains the fake dwarves cause she actually killed the real ones. She then erased the memories of the real Snow white knowing that she cannot die and made Snow white believe she's the evil Queen.
I was at FanExpo in Chicago and what you heard is true. I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977, and to see what Disney and Kathleen Kennedy have done to the franchise is literally soul crushing to me. Placing ideals over ideas. Appealing to a demographic instead of making their films for everyone. But Mark Hamill also did what I thought was impossible, and destroyed some of the love I have for the OT of Star Wars. Not only did he charge hundreds of dollars for an autograph, and hundreds more for a picture, he injected and prioritized his political beliefs and basically said to the entire audience "You can be a Star Wars fan as long as you agree with my beliefs and are rich enough to afford my signature."

I think he is more upset about the general stereotype issue with this particular story. Disney could easily rewrite this reboot to include more meaningful interactions with the dwarves and write them with actual depth of character. Nope, the never did for Snow. Most Snow white retellings are mono-focused on the snow vs queen aspect and don't invest much in the dwarf characters other than as props for Snow.

This is your reminder that Snow White is not just a Disney movie. It is one of the, if not *the*, most traditional German fairytales. For me, it’s part of my cultural identity.
Fairytales were stories passed down through generations. I heard them as a child from my grandmother, who herself had heard them from her elders. These tales are more than just entertainment, they carry the values, morals, and lessons. In Germany, these stories hold a special place. Cities and regions take immense pride in being the birthplace of these tales. For example, the town of Kassel is associated with the Brothers Grimm, they got famous by collecting stories from all around the country. Even today, fairytales inspire children’s series, video games, and operas.
Now, Disney is claiming that our stories are outdated and is altering them to fit their woke modern standards.
I don’t claim, that it matters what color the dwarves are, and personally, I don't find it to be a major issue. In fact, I’ve never come across any mention in the original fairytale about the dwarves' ethnicity. Historically, dwarves were inspired by real mine workers, most of whom were children. These children remained small due to the harsh labor conditions that stunted their growth. In the fairytale, dwarves are depicted as small, human-like workers, but they’re not actually human. The real issue, however, is that Disney has tried to turn them into a "woke" group of almost exclusively full-sized people. This shift not only strays far from the original source material but also diminishes the unique characteristics that made the dwarves distinct in the first place.
In doing so, they are changing a piece of our cultural heritage. This is our culture; these are our stories. When they are taken, modified, and presented in a way that distorts their original meaning, it feels like a form of cultural appropriation. Yet, because this concerns “white” culture, it seems to go unnoticed, or worse, unchallenged.
Imagine a nordic man cast as Genie. That would never happen because it's not a "white" story. If a white actor were cast in a North African or Middle Eastern role like the Genie, it would be considered problematic, often labeled as "white dominance" or something similar. But when a traditionally white role is given to a non-white actor, it’s seen as progressive. To me, this is the essence of racism, just reversed. Instead of promoting inclusivity, it creates a double standard where the rules change depending on who the character originally was.
The cultural significance of these stories should be respected and preserved, not rewritten to fit the trends of the moment

I was at FanExpo in Chicago and what you heard is true. I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977, and to see what Disney and Kathleen Kennedy have done to the franchise is literally soul crushing to me. Placing ideals over ideas. Appealing to a demographic instead of making their films for everyone. But Mark Hamill also did what I thought was impossible, and destroyed some of the love I have for the OT of Star Wars. Not only did he charge hundreds of dollars for an autograph, and hundreds more for a picture, he injected and prioritized his political beliefs and basically said to the entire audience "You can be a Star Wars fan as long as you agree with my beliefs and are rich enough to afford my signature."

Also, I think it's hilarious how this is "live action" but barely anybody in it is actually a real person. I think he is more upset about the general stereotype issue with this particular story. Disney could easily rewrite this reboot to include more meaningful interactions with the dwarves and write them with actual depth of character. Nope, the never did for Snow. Most Snow white retellings are mono-focused on the snow vs queen aspect and don't invest much in the dwarf characters other than as props for Snow.
1937: the audience tears up during the scene depicting snow white’s funeral.
2025: the 6 people in the audience of any given showing cheer, high five each other, and get happy drunk during Rachel’s funeral scene in Snow White

Am I the only one thinking that the “dwarfs” in Snow White were not people with dwarfism but actually the race of dwarfs as in The Lord of the Rings? Not sure how much that changes things, but I have not heard it at all.

What's really wild to me is that this Snow White role is sandwiched between her roles as Maria in West Side Story and Juliet in a Broadway show - two of the MOST submissive, romantic female characters in human history! Both were not only dreaming about a straight man (BLECHHH), but literally obsessed with him. Juliet even offed herself for her beloved Romeo. So everything she criticized Snow White for is in her other roles. Just a stunning display of hypocrisy. Make up your mind, Rachel.
She already has. She wants to change and demolish every character that has feminine and humble features. It is all about vile man hate and being a girl boss. Preferably with a cast full of people that want to push their sexuality. Common sense is off the table and history is being faked.
