actually this happened often, a player plays the tenis of her live and fights like crazy for about one hour against Swiatek and is done afterwards.
Look at that reaction at 1:20, It's not sportsmanship. She acts like a monster after taking the first set. Good thing she lost the match and got the lesson to be humbler.

The first set reminds me of the last match between Ryba and Iga. Iga had the lead and then suddenly collapsed. Pretty sure she working on it. Commitment to Excellence. Wishing her the best, 1ga❤

Swiatek is over 20 years old do they tell her what to eat when to sleep what to say in her interviews how to walk she’s not a child? Swiatek is making millions of dollars & does this mean she can’t think for herself without these two people if not with her! same me, I switched off in the last seconds of 1st set and said to myself: "it will be not miracle this time", I checked scores after few hours and : Surprise ! I watched whole match next day....(it was much safer for my heart ;-) )

Helluva match. Well done by both. Maybe the best I've seen from Haddad Maia this season. Those 5 straight games in set 1 were very unexpected, but then she lost 8 straight, which seemed extreme after that set.

Iga musiała wyjść na wyższy poziom aby wygrać ten mecz. Prowadziła już 4:1 w pierwszym secie i przegrała 5 gemów z rzędu. Musiała włączyć drugi bieg co przyniosło efekty. Maja okresami grała na bardzo wysokim poziomie...bardzo dobry mecz. Brawo Iga ❤

Iga's groundstrokes are the best in the world. However, Haddad Mia does expose her weakness, like a lesser Rybakina. Big serve, good at the one-two punch attack.

Even though Iga dropped the first set with her inadequate adjustment, I had forecast that she was lucidly going to accomplish such a gorgeous and splendid comeback against Haddas Maia. Brazilian tennis competitor has fought very hard at some points and compelling her capacity in the diferrent zones of the court but it was never sufficient to conquer Iga Swiatek. Particularly, Iga has demonstrated a more gallant, valiant and unfaltering performance than Haddad Maia in second and third sets. Polish tennis competitor was really a tornado and typhoon during the second set with bagel outcome.
Beatriz even had trouble with iga swiatek, she passed her opponents easily in the previous wheels

After taking the 1st set, Maia celebrated too much. And that caused her mentality collapsed and lost all games in 2nd set and eventually lost the match. Don't celebrate too early. C'mmoooooonnnn!

Nieprawda. Wlasnie Iga po przegraniu pierwszego seta, w 70% przegrywa caly mecz. Iga rzadko wygrywa w 3 setach, po przegraniu pierwszego seta. Tak bylo z Elena, Svitolina, Pegula, Coco, Sabalenka…etc
W sumie po wygraniu pierwszego seta jest zawsze prawie pewnie ,ze Iga wygra caly mecz.

These sliced returns Haddad Maia kept playing in this match because she gets caught out of position, to me, is an indication that she probably gasses fairly easily relative to players like Swiatek. If she can improve her cardio, she'll be an even bigger force.

Absolutely. I'm a decades old fan but I never watch Sabagrunter's matches, or most of the bad grunting matches.
This roaring and grunting has nothing to do with true sportsmanship and fair play especially in games that require high level of focus. Instant ban!

During this match I saw anger on Iga's face, but not the sport type anger but like she is having something which makes her angry outside of the tennis court. The result does not show it but in the third set she seemed to fight more with herself than with Beatriz. Constant return in the direction where Beatriz was, rarely change of pace and use of pure power, no tactics, no saving energy. Strange. If she plays like that against better player she will lose and I hope her coach finds where the problem lies. I am always rooting for her but I am a bit worried about the way she is constructing her game.

All hail the queen. She doesn’t do all this hug the baseline I’ll hit a million grounstrokes with you. Iga’s style of play is I will end you within a matter of a couple groundstrokes. She’s not my favorite but you gotta give credit where it is due.

Beatriz is disappointed and rightfully so. Idk if she could have won, but that 3rd set should have been closer. From watching her this week her serve is the big weakness. She doesn't double a lot, but she's also not winning free points. Excited to see her at RG though. Great clay court player!
Bia é uma das poucas counterpunchers que consegue não tomar 6-0/6-0 em 50 minutos da Iga isso porque, apesar dela só passar bola 90% das vezes, é uma bola passada de maneira forte e rasa, incomoda a Iga, mesmo assim, não o suficiente para vencê-la, ainda mais na terra, quase impossível, Bia teria que ser muito mais agressiva especificamente contra a N1. Porém, há muito de bom a se tirar de Madri, primeira vez no ano que Bia jogou um tênis condizente com seu ranking, por exemplo. Hoje foi um resultado completamente normal e esperado, você não vai vencer a Iga sendo uma counterpunch na terra, sem chance, Jabeur teria a mesma chance, só pra citar uma possível oponente da polaca na próxima rodada.

Algo que ha caracterizado a Haddad Maia es su capacidad fisica, y su preocupacion por estar en un alto nivel. Pero ella ha ido mostrando que su fisico le esta fallando en los ultimos meses. No se si es su metabolismo, o que ha descuidado sus ejercicios, pero en el tercer set mostro que ya no podia.
1GA won't survive if she keeps giving the ball to the opponent not directing it to a more open space. Bia took advantage and took the 1st set. 1GA must have realized this so she made a mixed way of groundstrokes to come up with a 6-0 2nd set.

Players like Bia are a good but average and that's ok, sport is like this, you can see the difference in skills compared to a player of Iga's level and others famous top 1~3.
Haddad Maia deserves a top 5, she had a victory against Iga and a lot of girls of top 10 and now she was so strong and almost beat her again. She deserves the place of Sakari
Almost won? 6:0 and 6:2 in 2rd & 3rd showed the real difference. First set was all Iga's crazy head. Maia played decently at times but she's not top 5.
