You can see a visible, palpable change in Mark. He needed this reunion more than almost anybody I've seen on the show. You can actually watch him starting to heal and it is AMAZING! ♥️

My mom found me and my brothers 25years after being taken away by my dad. It's been 30 years since our reunion and tremendous healing occurred, at least for me because I was 5 with many memories and connection. These stories make me cry every time. Also met a half brother 10 years I didn't know existed. Heand I get along very well. God brought us all back to my mom before it was to late. I've made it a point to help my mom heal after so many years separated. Keep healing people from broken families! It's so important to help people deal with deep brokenness.

Every time someone looks at a picture and quietly asks "may I keep this", I just find that moment so incredibly moving. It's as if that one tangible thing, a photograph, has filled so much emptiness and they can't quite allow themselves to believe this moment is finally here, and you know they're going to hang on to that photo for dear life. I just burst into tears evert time.
Thank you for posting these precious episodes

That is the most moving moment for me as well. A simple photograph which we take so much for granted, becomes an instant treasure for these people. I love these episodes but every one of them makes me sad that women were treated this way for so many years. That having a baby out of wedlock was such a shameful thing for families that they sent their daughters away to give birth alone and hand their babies over to strangers after a few days, then return home and pretend that nothing happened. While most of the children were adopted into wonderful families and had great childhoods, they were all feeling lost and knew that something very important in their lives was missing. I would NEVER have sent one of my daughters away if this had happened to either of them - I would have allowed them to bring their baby home to raise.

I was in a home for unwed mothers home also. If my aunt hadn’t of intervened, I wouldn’t be able to tell her daily I love her. That was 1963. That beautiful baby girl now has a son and 5 grandkids...... look at all I would have lost. I do remember hearing my name being called thru the haze of pain meds I was given. The one ‘mistake’ the owner and the nurse made was they didn’t realize I’m a lefty and they were trying to put an ink pen in my right hand to sign the papers of adoption. This is where my aunt comes in. She, in no uncertain words, explained very explicitly that ‘we aren’t giving our baby away’. My family was amazing. I was able to finish high school. But sadly my mom passed away the next year in same month of her birth when my baby girl turned a year. Watching programs like these makes me even more happy I got to raise her myself.
    Take care,

I cannot imagine what these ladies went through.i had support all the way, these girls did not. They did not have even any consideration. They had just gvn birth, vulnerable , scared and alone. No comfort no warmth no respect no humanity.None.Breaks my heart. These people that mistreated n mishandled n robbed the babies n young girls of a lifetime together cannot be human. What HUMAN would do that? The UK version of this show is gold standard. The whole production, cinematography & musical score are well-curated & how a proper docuseries should be. The sceneries of UK are breathtaking to look at. And the hosts Nicky & Davina are both perfect for this. I also love how considerate the whole production is if a not so good news is to be told & they respect anyone who doesn’t want to appear on camera. You can also feel the raw emotions. It translates through the screen & never cease to make me cry.

Not everyone who tragically loses their Mom at age 16 gets the chance to meet their "other" mother at age 49! And I think it was so thoughtful of Marc's birth Mother to make the effort to ensure he was adopted by a family with the same religion as her own. That makes their new connection even deeper, as he was raised in her faith, they have even more in common. And now they both have a whole new "bonus" family to get to know. Lucky!

It’s so interesting to see that mostly adopted men have problems struggling with feeling rejected.
while women often want to meet the bio mother to assure them that they are ok . And that they understand their mum made the greatest sacrifice, and how hard it must have been ,and hope that the mother is ok. Shows how different women and men are. It was a different time back then. Families were shamed by their friends and neighbors for having an unwed daughter who was pregnant. I had a great aunt who went through the same thing, she had to live in a home for unwed mothers until she gave birth and the baby was taken away. It destroyed her life having to do that

As an American, I believe the US correspondents are just as caring and genuine. It is about culture differences. Some might believe that the UK correspondents are more dramatic and "sappy". It's just a different of cultures, maybe if you really understood "diversity" you would be more open to other cultures. I like them US & UK the same. Of course since I don't know how far Hammelsmit is from East End (for example). The locations are not as relatable for me.

  • @HRHDMKYT

I love this show. Julie seems to be extremely sensitive. I definitely believe "guilt" is the wrong emotion for her to be feeling. Julie didn't sleep with a guy who turned out to be a scuzz-bag cowardly asshole who was married but hadn't told her that. I just feel sorry for her birth mother and what she had to go through after this fraud had been perpetrated upon her. And it never ceases to anger me how just because it's women who bear the burden of procreation in society due to biology, society feels the need to shame ONLY THE WOMEN who are fertile outside of the construct of marriage. The men get away scott-free... while enjoying a consequence-free sex life. So unfair, angering, frustrating -- it really should be illegal the way women were (are) treated in this world! It's definitely immoral... Society should be worshipping the ground upon which women walk, given all women do in this world.
I was happy to hear Julie's birth mother say that Julie looked like "my family"... and not the miscreant birth father (who I hope ended up having a miserable life)
