Sheena Barriento - This one got to me as well. They all make me cry, but this was one where I could actually FEEL the profound love and loss that her parents had felt all those years. I think they truly thought that they would NEVER meet up with her again, and I get the sense that at times they felt guilty for giving her up and almost felt like they didn't deserve to have her, that maybe they had abandoned her to some parents who abused or ignored her. Once they realized that they had made the right decision in choosing adoption for her, I could see them visibly relax.

It was just perfect, but also made me think about all the poor people out there who have had to give up kids in bad times and how much it must torture them every day, and when they finally have the chance to reunite, aside from looking alike, it's as if they come from two different worlds. I hope they are all able to keep in touch.

Oftentimes charities and donations from foreigners fund corrupt governments and some orphanages actually starve kids on purpose so they look sicker and garner more sympathy. That could be why more people don't want to send money to places where they don't know what it will be used for.

Eddie's letter to Pearse was perfect. It gave Pearse a beautiful foundation of his father's love and care. Eddie is a big hearted man, with lots of love to give to his son, in one letter he established his place in Pearse's life as a loving, caring dad. Listen to Pearse's voice as he reads his dad's letter. You can hear his tears of happiness, and when he says, " He did want to be in my life..." It was like the door shut on all of his pain and doubt.

Belinda Babette -Just wondering what your thoughts are on all the recent deportations of illegal immigrants? By your logic, if it’s wrong to move 3,000 miles away from the father of your child then anyone who conceives a child in the US should be granted citizenship so the family can stay together.
It should be noted that Pearce’s mom was 17 when she had him. Pearce’s dad was 33. The mom is not a US citizen. She was a minor working illegally in a bar. Who knows? She may have been deported, which would’ve blocked her from returning to the US for 10 years.
On the other hand, why didn’t the dad follow her to Ireland? He was an adult. Bar jobs aren’t that hard to get.

    • @beckyyoung2173
      @beckyyoung2173 4 года назад +1

@@TheVeggiekat - Oh FFS, stop trying to make this into something it's not, so that you can gloat over your own damn opinions! Sit down, keep your mouth shut, watch the show, and just enjoy it, without shoving your politics down everyone's throats.
First off, NOTHING in the story said anything about her being there illegally. Nothing.
Pierce's Mother may been in the US visiting relatives. She was 17. Chances are, she was there for the summer, and was either going to decide if she wanted to stay permanently, or go back at the end of the summer. Or, maybe she moved there and stayed with relatives, and then decided she didn't like it, and ended up pregnant at the same time. For all we know, her extended family may have owned the bar she was working in, which is why she could work there at age 17. Makes more sense that way, than this "illegal scenario" you have in your head though, don't you think?
So, seriously, stop trying to change the story to fit your narrative, so you can shove your ideology down everyone else's throats, and berate them for something going on in your own damn head. It's despicable.

Yeah, but I've never gotten along with my own older brother, he's always lived his life where his friends were more important than his own family. Then all his friends moved out of country, and he was left hanging around with friends-of-friends and people he worked with. Recently, he attended the wedding of the daughter of his "best friend", and I think it was a real eye-opener: they had their own extended family all visiting from out of country, and none of the other friends attended the wedding because they chose to have it on Good Friday (I'm sure the bride's grandparents were rolling around in their graves at the sacrilege!). So my brother and his wife were pretty much ignored. Then our younger brother passed away after almost a 4-year battle with a horrific rare cancer, and 7 months later our Mother passed away. So now I'm his only living family. I just have little interest in suddenly being friends... my friends have always been there for me, so I much prefer their company and that of my one first cousins. I doubt he's learned his lesson, as he and his wife are also estranged from her sister-in-law (so they rarely see her brother), and from one of their two daughters... Some people never learn the lesson that you have to be mature to be able to get along with your own blood relatives. He may never get it.

We lost contact with him for more than a decade. After I reconnected with him, he gave me his watch which I remember he had it with him all the time when I was a little boy. Wow... I feel so happy for the family in Colombia to have finally been reunited with their birth daughter after 27 years! They all look alike!! And now she can also meet her 3 siblings. I think I would've tried to learn some Spanish phrases so I could communicate directly with my birth parents rather than through an interpreter. But since she'll be heading back to the U.K., I guess it'd be even harder to part again if they shared a language as well as DNA. I hope her siblings get a chance to get to know her as well. Especially now that she lost her adoptive Mum, it's even more special to have found her birth parents. God bless all of them. What a wonderful program, LLF UK!! ~Diana K

Both my sisters had sons that never met their dads although both dads live in the area.
When the boys were little, both sisters were absolutely venomous to the dads and drove them away. I saw it happen.
One son met his dad for the first time when he was near death in a nursing home. The son said it was like looking into his own eyes.
The other son became a heroin addict for a time, lives with his mother and almost 50, still has not seen his dad who lives 20 miles away.
Both sons are the spitting image of their dads.

I've seen so many of these videos and it never gets any easier to watch these parents who were in such desperate situations that they were forced to give up their child. This is one of the most beautiful episodes - to find that her mother was not only alive and well but had married and stayed with her father all these years is so wonderful. And for her father to give her his watch, which is probably the only material possession he has, made me cry. Life should never be so hard for a parent that they have to give up their child to someone else to be raised. We can only be thankful now for the discovery of DNA and the art of mining a person's ancestry in order to find a birth parent in a city of 5 million people with only an unmarried name to go by and a few very sketchy bits of information on a birth certificate. They've lost 27 years of life together but hopefully have many years ahead of them to share.

Her parents were together all along. They already had 3 children. But they were homeless and the children had malnutrition. They gave her the greatest gift a parent can. they gave her a chance. I cannot imagine the pain of that. They must love each other so much that they were able to carry each other through and raise their other children

I've seen a good few of these lovely documentaries now and they always move me to tears. This episode was particularly special. Although it was a very sad reason in losing her adoptive mother that stirred Christina to search for her birth Mum, it truly was an act of beautiful compassion that alleviated so many years of suffering for those parents that loved her enough to let her go in the hope that she would have better opportunities. I'm so glad they were reunited. My heart just overflowed for those beautiful people that had been left wondering and worrying all those years. It must be such a satisfying and fulfilling job to bring these people their hearts desires. I feel so happy for them all.

To give up your child because you cannot care for them is such a selfless act of Love that is just next level. The father giving up his watch because it is all he had was just so genuine and sincerely heart felt. I hope that revenue from this show can get them all iPads for FaceTime calls and the show will also help them visit each other regularly. 5,000 miles is probably an expensive plane ride. Really happy they found their way back to each other.

What a shame that young man’s mother kept him from knowing his father. I wish all parents would put their own wants aside and think of what is best for their child. Every boy desperately needs his dad, and when the dad is willing and eager, no one should keep them apart. God bless those Colombian parents who were homeless and made the selfless choice to given their daughter a better life.

I know what you mean and I wholly agree, but in this case I don’t think she did it out of spite but misguided attempt to keep her son from hurting. I think maybe she thought it would be too hard for the little boy to understand why his dad wasn’t there all the time and that it would be easier with no confusion… she was young then maybe that’s the best she could think to do.

To hear how Christina’s parents were treated when she was born is despicable. Millions were plunged into (further) poverty through no fault of their own. It would be interesting to know if the adoption agency/ies that had contracts with the orphanage were responsible for acting like they owned the babies as soon as they were born.

I can't imagine how hard it must be to give up your baby. I met my nephew for the first time today and I didn't want to let go when my brother took him from me. I miss him so much already and he's only my nephew, who I get to see again. For it to be your own child and to know you may never see them again... I can't even imagine.
