Christine Rose was born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire and is now 67-years-old. At the age of four, she was separated from her sisters in extremely dramatic circumstances. The three young girls were taken from their mother by social services during the night and Christine was sent to one children’s home and her sisters were sent to another. Christine never saw her mother or sisters again and is desperate to find them. She was eventually adopted but remained haunted by the absence of her sisters and began to question why the family were torn apart. After their difficult start in life, she’s always wanted to know what happened to her sisters and whether they stayed together.

The October special episode on the fallen soldiers and their unmarked graves was very touching. I pray more will be identified to give closure to their families.

To the 3 sisters, if you ever read these comments: Sitting here in the USA I would never think of judging your mom. I just wonder why she was not offered help by anyone. Does a woman know when she marries, her husband will be jailed or imprisoned in the future? No! What she needed was help, not persecution. I am so glad that you've found each other. Love and best wishes from the USA.
Kristine B this is why help and services are vital for those who have fallen on hard times in order to have a chance to thrive in the future. Judgement does no one any favors.
I agree. Instead of help they made it a story to put into newspapers, flashing cameras in crying children's eyes and then prosecuting a pregnant desperate woman who had by no fault of her own a husband in jail. sickening the way poor people are treated as if they want to live that way. It still happens.

Not to defend anyone or any institution - she wasn't offered help because when someone was poor the kids were taken away. I have watched other episodes when the actual Council would trick the parents and then take the kids. Utterly disgraceful. It tears my heart out thinking of all the hurt and sadness this caused over GENERATIONS! such short minded thinking. It makes me physically sick. Shows like this hopefully help heal brokeness and wounds.
Kristine B Even the father, after serving his sentence, had the right to rebuild his life and his family. The british social services are ruled by monsters, not humans. Watch "O Segredo dos Deuses", "Love you Mom" and "Our baby was snatched".
I could not stop crying for the poor mother in this story. The cruel ignorant authorities should have shown compassion for all four ( the mom and her 3 girls). I am sure the mother must have had an emotional breakdown. Any woman would have.
I couldn't agree more! Even the father, had the additional sentence of losing his kids.
Maura but he broke the law in some way which was a bad decision for a parent to make. I know that maybe his crime was robbing a bank to support his family, as opposed to doing drugs or something really irresponsible. The mom was innocent 100 percent but in the midst of her financial collapse she was treated like a criminal rather than seeing her as a victim of circumstances
Maura ...ooops, maybe you didn’t know he was in jail which is why the mom was destitute....with kids and no job. He was their support

Probably postpartum depression with kids so closely born...not to mention feeling abandoned and overwhelming responsibility to care for the girls when her husband went to jail. That's quite alot for anyone to handle. Poor lady.
Christine Rose has such a sweet husband. His love for her is amazing.
Incredible they found 7 of the 9 sisters. You guys are changing so many lives, God bless all the people involved in these searches.

My mother had 8 kids. She raised NONE of us! Pawned my oldest sister off on my grandmother and pawned me off on my father - who also didn't raise me. The other six were placed for adoption, all younger than me and my sister. We all have different fathers. My six siblings were all adopted by different families as well. She is a horrible, HORRIBLE woman! I have managed to find four of my six siblings so far. Two happy reunions, the other two are indifferent. I am still searching for the missing two. I live vicariously through this show and the happy endings.

JessieA I’m so sorry, that’s so not fair to all you innocent people. Makes me sick when so many people struggle with infertility just to have these selfish people pop them out like pea and then pass them on like they are not their own blood. Horrible. I hope you find all your family

Don't judge your mom! She gave you all you needed: your life! She could have easily aborted all of you. Or kept you together with an abusive new boyfriend. When you judge your mom, you can be sure you will do twice worse than her. Make a research about the Family Constellations Therapy and a new understanding will be open for you.
The American version is decent. But I love the original UK version and use it as my 'cry myself to sleep with happy tears' solution, so thank you so much for uploading these!
blueashke Could you please tell me the name of the American version? Is it on RUclips? I've lived in the US all my life but we got rid of our TV about 20 years ago. However I found this British reunion show and I love it so much. So happy for all the sisters!!!
@@carolconlogue6630 It's on the TLC website, same name Long Lost Family. You need a cable log in (I don't have one at the moment, but I used to just borrow my mom's) to watch all the but most recent episode, but they're okay. But they tell the people that their family is dead in front of them, things like that. It feels less respectful, but that's just in comparison.
@@blueashke TLC have stuff on there site Long Lost Family, I have watched them there decent, but not the same as the UK one, and BTW I get home sick to coming from England, watching the UK version reminds me all the places in England I know. I seem to be watching alot of the UK version and then I sigh or cry lol but they are heartwarming that's for sure.
The UK Version is miles better in every single way. The presenters - Nicky & Davina were very sincere & decent in handling these informations & they sympathize with these people because they know first hand how it is to be adopted/orphaned. Even the cinematography, musical score, and the overall format of the UK version is also much better!
The US version is like a reality tv show but looks a little bit scripted.
@@AgentAO7 I mean, the hosts of the other show are also adopted and found their birth families. But the big thing is that on the UK show, they tell people about deaths in private. They don't do that on the US show and that to me (as an American) just shows the major difference in the two cultures.
So, so sad. Money may not bring you happiness but the lack of it sure causes a lot of misery.
I find this program so uplifting. I, too, found out after my mother's death that the man that raised me was not my biological father. I reached out to my new family just to get to know more about my deceased bio dad and new family and was ghosted. I'm so happy for the people finding their families.
So sorry to hear that they ghosted you; you deserve answers.
Perhaps it was the mental illness factor also
I am also adopted and have been looking for my half-siblings for a long time, unfortunately so far unsuccessful. This show encourages me to keep on looking. You should never give up! Thank you very much and best regards from Germany.

This channel shows us how we all survive…..in spite of sooo much we go thru…we survived!
I found my birth father after he gave my older sister and I up for our step father to adopt us and discovered I have 3 brothers too. I always had my mom, my older sister and a younger half sister. And my stepdad was and is the best thing to happen to us but it has been like putting missing pieces in my life puzzle finding my birth father after over 40 years. He passed away a couple years ago but I am still very close with 2 of my 3 brothers, especially the youngest and his wife and children. They are a unexpected blessing in my life. I'm glad I worked up the nerve to reach out to him so I have no regrets.
Terrible hard times, it’s hard to imagine the way poverty can disrupt so many lives. Glad they found each other.
Social Services can disrupt so many lives instead. There are billions of poor people who are not disrupted, have a family, work and are happy. As I can see in this episode, the UK social service has a tradition in destroying families. Did you watch "O Segredo dos Deuses", "Love you Mom" and "Our baby was snatched" ?
I think social services was correct in taking the children away. They were eating raw potatoes and living in filth. Clearly, she barely did any better after receiving treatment. Some people just aren’t able to handle raising children and the every day pressures of life.
That is so funny when he said, "You can tell who's who" in the photo of the little girls. Catherine does look about the same:) That's sweet!
When I watch each episode I have a keen awareness of how much each family appreciates each other more because of the absence.
Something sobering about that. Especially for those of us who’ve not experienced this. We take each other for granted.
I would hope, after so many of these stories having become public now, and all the lifelong trauma being shown, that the 'authorities' and "well meaning" fools out there might start realizing that family bonds are incredibly deep. And that while maybe it's necessary to put a child up for adoption or remove it from a bad situation, it's a VERY bad idea to hide who its relatives are, hide it, hide its parents - because even after 50 or 60 or more years there are deep wounds and a deep need to connect with those bonds and roots. It doesn't do anyone any favors.
This is a story that's so sad...then turns about into something beautiful.Amazing that after so long they were able to be reunited.Having the right sort of assistance made a huge difference,if Carole and Catherine were searching for Christine for 20 years! And they all lived in Yorkshire! I so hope their reunion with their other siblings has been happy.
This episode was too emotionally, i was crying till the end. 🥺🌸
I can't even imagine the pain their mother had till the end, of losing her daughters. But her husband stood by her.
Now their mother must be resting in peace. 🌸🙏. ❤

The one sitting in the middle on the couch seems so young still, like she hasn't changed from the small girl who was taken away. You can see her trauma in the way she sits; arms crossed, head and eyes down, completely silent. So incredibly sad.

Yes...she looks detached...lack of emotion..says a lot about how she was brought up I guess! So much pity for her ..she was too young to be without her mother!! Must have been so traumatic for her especially!!!
The middle one was Catherine sister #3 . Yeah, disappointments and setbacks can do that to you. Not saying this is a good thing or normal thing. It is abandonment. But life can do that.
Remember, Catherine was the one who accessed her papers and worked with sister #1 Christine (aka Rosemary) in getting the whole gang together.
I think Janice - sister #4 was taken away rather quickly after she was born at Hatfield Hall.
She seemed fine to me. Obviously, this is a traumatic thing in their past, but she was 18 months. Doesn't remember it, and had a good adoptive family. She made several jokes about being sullen in her pictures and not smiling much. It's obviously just personality. I wouldn't read into it. Her sister was in the same adoptive household, and she was very smiling and up front! Just a personality difference. I've known people who were more withdrawn and less connected. There's nothing wrong with them.

So sad, organizations shouldn't separate children. That's dramatic on top of being taken from parents then adopted by strangers.
If you pause at 6:46 you can read more of the newspaper article. It says that “the husband reported in January that the electric and gas meters had been broken into.” Since the girls were removed in December, that indicates no one came to repair the meters for 11 months. It seems that way to me, as the father was obviously in the home when he reported it. He must have gone to prison some time after. That also points to him being the father of the child born in the mental hospital, making him the father of all nine children. The mother ended up admitting that she’d broken into the meters because she’d needed the money for the children. In 1955, there was little support for families in need, and the pittance she would’ve received could not have possibly sustained a woman with a four year old, a toddler and a baby. It’s obvious she was trying to keep the family together until her husband’s release. I’d be willing to bet that whatever the dad got locked up for was related to supporting his family.

nina madison Gosh I do too! Some episodes I actually sob. I never use the term “ugly cry” like so many do but I seriously ugly cry when I watch this show. Been binge watching today so I’ve cried all day. Can’t be healthy! Lol! Gonna have to stop this.

What a treasure and what a delightful story! I hate the suffering they've all had but to find each other again is just priceless!

Watching all the pain of separation, the hopes and despair and the tears of joy for the lucky ones, truly is amazing and so soul satisfying.
Makes me offer a heartfelt gratitude to God for having my loved ones around me.
This has to be one of my favorite episodes!! Such a tear jerker... I cant imagine the pain the mother went thru having these 4 taken from her. I'm sure she never healed 100%
I don't know how old this story is but, I am just now looking at it today, and Lord, it is reminding me of my own story, of finding my maternal family at seventy-five; I shed just as many tears. I felt just as happy for them, my mother was struggling too, and I don't know what happened to a brother; I am still searching for him, but at my age, it is slow going, but I am so happy for the ladies and hope their search will continue and fine all their siblings.
The poor sister with the short white hair has been traumatized her whole life.

This is often what happened before birth Control became legal and available. The hardship of grinding poverty and hopelessness is ghastly.

OMG!!! Thank you soooo much. I've been so home sick since leaving Scotland three years ago. This was one of my favorite programs and I hate the American version. Loved this episode, please keep them coming.

@@lorenab3185 I agree withFreakingMona. Also, in the American-version the reaction of the person looking for a family-member is shown in the preview at the very start of the programme, spoiling the moment from the get-go.
FreakingMona I understood that it was on how the American version was presented and not Americans as a whole. Just wanted to understand the differences you interpret. I can see how the American version can come across as trying to almost exploit every bit of emotion, that’s why I was wondering if that is what you were seeing also.

How disturbing to take a womans children who is trying to make it. She had a husband in jail and loved him and went back to him. How horrible they would take pictures and criminalize her for trying her best. She needed help.
she wasn't just poor. she was also insane and sent to a psych hospital multiple times. those kids would have been at serious risk but they luckily all went on to have good upbringings
Oh, wow they're all 9 siblings 6 sisters reunite from one looking for 2 then discovers 4rth one and 6th.
This is just so touching and wonderful story, family reuniting may you'll fine to the other 3 to complete their family reunion. This is really so touching.
You can note the difference of the sisters raise by their parents. Must have been hard...
Who needs quiz programmes where you win lots of money. Despite the heartache some stories show, the joy in their faces is priceless..thank you.
After watching many programs, what has occurred to me is the horrible price, life long, that mothers and children pay when we live in patriarchal societies that punish rather than love.

OMG! I am trying to find out what happened to my Great-Grandmother in 1858. She started January in a place for Lunacy patients, jailed in April for larceny, dead in December. What happened there I am trying to figure out. Thank you for this episode
This was such a heartbreaking story, yet the three of these ladies never stopped looking for each other. I am happy they know each other now.

Can’t judge without knowing everyone’s side of the story…
The sister in the middle displayed so much trauma in her body language. It is evident she lived through a suppressed childhood. You could see the trauma lift from her soul when she saw the picture of her Mother.
My Mum grew up in the same area Daw Green in Dewsbury Mum was a year older than Doreen the Mum. This area was a working class area with lots of Irish Catholic who worked in the Mills all with big families.
watching the episode gave me goose bumps .... love it when siblings reunite !
I'm not half way through this story. My heart is breaking for this lady; reading the article.
Again and again why are mother are judged so harshly?
Where are the father in the scenario?
Even though there's a SMALL percentage of men who don't they have children.
It's a shame of those who knows and just walk away.
Even now in 2022, these stories are being repeated.
I'm fortunate to know my family's history.
A beautiful mom , she passed away February 21 2016.

I love this show... I need this in my life, for real! My dad was married 4 times had about 30 kids with at least 15 women 🙄... I know personally know only 8 siblings. But not the older children from his first 2 marriages and others. I think it's why I'm so fascinated with these shows. I plan to do an Ancestry test once this crap dies down. Anyways... In cases where there is no criminal activity/issues, I believe limited records should be available to ppl looking for family members. Even if it's just a phone number or a way to send certified mail or such to a post office in their general area & see if the family member chooses to reach back to the family member. Postal offices can usually get the mail to them as their government offices. ❤ Just a thought. It would ease the heartache & suffering.

because it was a different time and they did not fully understand the psychological/emotional/physical ramifications of splitting up kids. i am sure they actually thought they were helping. argh!
@@chelseagirl278 They do the same today! Go to Iolanda Menino's channel, called "Our baby was snatched". She, her husband and both sides grandparents had the baby Santiago snatched because his father used to sell natural products.

I truly wish community’s would help their neighbors, rather than watch them suffer. It’s a human being in need . Rather we wait for the system to separate n take these kids into homes that are not always kind to these precious innocent children. Pray God grant you healing.

I’m from Dewsbury, and had a similar childhood, but without any reunions. It was and still is the culture in this area to keep your nose in your own business and not doing so was considered meddling and unwelcome. Like it or not. Wishing otherwise is unfortunately, irrelevant. I spent my whole childhood wishing someone would intervene or get me some help. There was a lot of cultural cheek turning that enabled traumatic childhoods to continue.
Christine is an initiator and a leader at the same time. Looking forward to seeing the result of searching of Christine other siblings.

I still love this episode.
As painful as it is for adopted kids, that was a hateful thing to say... that his whole childhood was a lie.. again and again this show emphasizes blood over love, I feel for the REAL parents - the ones who loved and raised them. I grew up with my bio family, in dysfunction and emotional abuse and would have given the world to have someone loving, blood or not. Bcos yes, there is a connection with bio relations but connection doesn't equal love and acceptance.

Christine’s only memory of her mother is a herringbone coat and she wore a herringbone coat when she met with her sisters. Interesting. Wonder if it was intentional
I feel like sister who looks so sad might understand her mom more that the other sisters. I say that because of my own depression and I look like the sad sister

I would assume (before seeing the entire episode) the mom went on to have more children, a lot of them actually, to make up for her loss of her older set of children.

By far the best episode I have seen Social serivces of that day have a lot to answer for because of the uneccesary suffering they caused..... but why no interest in the father?
It was said the UK Social Services routinely takes away 150,000 kids from their families anually. Watch the series "Love you Mom", "O Segredo dos Deuses" and "Our Baby was Snatched"
I heard the Nowegian one does the same to date.
