i have a question, is it better to recondition my armour, or is it better to make a new set and hope for better than tier 3? because i reconditioned my guardsmans body armour and i get tier 4 on the chest piece, but on the gloves i recondition it stays the same tier but adds on a little more defence, so its a bit hit and miss.

Great video! I love them as well. I had managed to brace at the top of a siege tower caught 60 kills before I even noticed what happened. One condo, one MAA, and most of a pike militia. Also two heros who tried to come up. But their brace has one issue. Say your in formation and you brace then a hero or unit manages to push them out of formation they will not reform up themselves and rebrace. They brace where they go pushed too. Easy fix to formation. Just unbrace they reline up where you placed them then brace again bam back in perfect formation.
I hope the men at arms upgrade is just as good as the spear sergeants. Their elite appearance is the best looking default outfit in my opinion so I don't really wanna upgrade them unless its a huge upgrade. The spear sergeants upgrade looks better than the original though so I'm definitely upgrading these as soon as possible
I got to test the men at arms upgrade a little on the test server, initially did seem pretty decent, I think they will likly be worth the upgrade but will test them out properly once they release :-)
I think that 3 seconds in the advance doctrine may cause an infinite range advance because if i remember well 3 secs was the cooldown left after a max lenght advance so if you could reset the advance that would be worth the doctrine
I was hesitant to get them due to losing cover commander as you mentioned, but after this video, I'm more concerned about them getting nerfed right after promoting them :) Their brace seems incredibly strong.
Idk Evo, I take the cover commander as a great way to snack heroes. The thing with it is to focus your unit's attacks on a small area instead of the dumb dispersive way they go on V. But yea, besides that, I still think it is ok to lose that skill over a nice general buff to the unit main function
Yeah its a good point about the hero killing with cover commander, I just think for me the upgrade is quite significant and so worth it + I can always rebuild another unit of base spear sgts :)

i probably won't get them untill next week but from what i've seen they really seem glitched. When in brace their heads stick out but can't be hit by archers or muskets, their brace glitches them into the enemy unit and staggers them to death, and their charge seems to suffer from the pref pike/ keshig damage glitch where if the unit moves they sometimes do so much damage anything in their way is dead in less than 1 second.
Yeah their braced position does seem insanely strong from the front, basically undamageable can only kill by flanking. Not had much luck personally with the advance as I find it often bugs out but I can well imagaine it insta killing stuff
I swing maul behind stalwarts and paladins. I feel bad for the enemy heroes as in one bone breaker or maelstorm, entire unit loses enough health to get killed instantly in any next attack. I unlocked stalwarts now, excited to use them.

Spear sgts were good but I think the meta had started to turn against them a little bit. Although they may have overdone the upgrade a little to strong

Is there no other way to u lock these I have upgraded my Sgt’s and the challenges say I must complete the ranked matches yet that means waiting for another season. Which means they will likely be need nerfed as new units will be available. At that point it’s not even worth it.
It's kind of hard to explain with text but basically when moving with 'x' the unit stays as a very tight blob (but moves slightly slower) If you move then by double tapping 'c' (which is slightly faster) the unit spreads out into a much looser formation, gets stuck on things etc so I guess slightly down to preference but I prefer my unit to turn up fight ready rather than in a sort of trailing line
What an odd season. the 2 new units looks so niche that they will see very little or no use in the future (i'm guessing for the 5*) the 2 upgrade turn 2 good units into monsters that everyone will use for the next months,.
I just promoted my SS to SW and I don't think there's any downside to it apart from the increased leadership and a losing ability(hero guarding), so you need a bit more micro management with that playstyle. Exp and levels are carried over and all veterancy nodes are reset. The cost of resupplying units will be higher but that's just bronze currency anyway. Any upgrade in unit tree also works for stalwarts as well.
I have to disagree, for short bow upgrading them is a HUGE nerf. Cover commander lets me roll around and my units follow me and protect me while i shoot. Can't do this play style without cover commander.
I've been playing for just over a year now and not had issues. I think it might be because the anti cheat tracks you IP but then many mmo's also do that. Ultimately I don't think steam would be hosting and promoting a virus so i'm happy with it
From what I've read it is not actually spyware. I think it uses peer 2 peer connections for updates etc. which triggers some antivirus. I have played it for a while and despite many virus/malware/spyware scans have not had any issues.
Ah yes it does trigger anti virus from your pc I have MCAfee It triggerred it during a update (I had already been playing it for 3 months) I reached out on their discord a communication verifed website with thousands of members and game staff they said that it might be because of new updates to your antivirus which trigger the game not the other way around so I delete the game re-opened it turned off my antivirus while it downloaded and updated then turned it on again and the game worked fine its been 8 months now Sorry for the long response and grammar I got to get somewhere and decdied to quicly help give insight
Quite a few different options with longsword, Traditionally it used to be full toughness for the self heal but this has diminished somewhat more recently. If you go armor it'll make you more tanky but damage will be slow, strength with increase your slashing damage or a combonation of the two will give a little to both
Amazing unit, now I can finally delete any assault unit I had. As this is another Pike unit with shields now. Great job dev, this game doesn't need assault units, its for stupid people.
They maybe somehow OP now, but the game needs units like that to remove that passive siege attackers behavior, so scared to push or do anything if they see couple units of archers/pikes....
@@danny6495 Brace is cancer mechanic. Now they gave bracing shields. There is a choke point in front of you. Protected by a maul and stelwards. What unit, except iron reapers or silhadars or the same stelwards you can actaully use to assault them?

If they add Romans or even a sword unit that had light javelins , that could be the new anti pike. Throw javelins at the pike unit and kill off or stun the front ranks before charging in. However, this unit is needed because it will rebuild the shield wall push, which was been at a decline since the maul, cavalry, fortebraccios, falconneti, and imperial pikes started becoming more meta. The brace is needed because that allows them to actually hold without getting knocked around by heroes, which was a major problem with the shield wall. As a spear unit, it performs as expected, unlike spear sergeants, which get ripped apart by heroes.
Its a fantastic game, with more for new players now than ever before; but server performance issues this season are driving people away. If you're just getting in, be patient and expect headaches.
Unfortunately this is just another siege unit. Not TW viable over imp shields as the main purpose of shields is to tank dmg. Imp shields have larger shield and also is far tankier than these down to honour node upgrades and the heal on imp shields. Fun but overall, not a game changer in terms of TW.
Thats probobly a fair point, I wouldn't completely write them off for TW as they do have some benefits over imp sheids but yeah get your point more of a siege unit
These units should have their blocks nerfed, why do these guys have higher block than Imperial Spear Guards and have more mobility, dmg, and abilities then them.
Nerf? that unit is too op. i kept running into those in each battle like come on, its not balance at all. one brace trip to hell situations, Maul player's kidnapping technique that feeds you to bracing loyal guards.

Cover commanders a hero trap, V to attack all, once you're in melee range CC and your unit will swarm the hero and kill very fast

You should consider bracing them when their advance hit the enemy because that is when their formation is the tightest

Yes in short the spear sgt tech tree upgrade nodes DO also affect the stalwarts so yes all good :)

No schiltron still works same as before, only benefit is now you can brace whilst in that formation

They are from season 5 so you need to press f5 then unit challenges then button top left, select season 5 and you should be able to see them :-)

It's well worth checking out :-)
Its a fantastic game, with more for new players now than ever before; but server performance issues this season are driving people away. If you're just getting in, be patient and expect headaches.
the game is fantastic, the community is a little small, but growing, and the content is abundant. its like playing medieval fps, super fun
cant wait for these little sods to get nerfed

Unfortunately this is just another siege unit. Not TW viable over imp shields as the main purpose of shields is to tank dmg. Imp shields have larger shield and also is far tankier than these down to honour node upgrades and the heal on imp shields. Fun but overall, not a game changer in terms of TW.
Thats probobly a fair point, I wouldn't completely write them off for TW as they do have some benefits over imp sheids but yeah get your point more of a siege unit

These units should have their blocks nerfed, why do these guys have higher block than Imperial Spear Guards and have more mobility, dmg, and abilities then them.

Nerf? that unit is too op. i kept running into those in each battle like come on, its not balance at all. one brace trip to hell situations, Maul player's kidnapping technique that feeds you to bracing loyal guards.
They dont do a alot of damage their just really tanky. Just use shock troops.

Fortes got nerfed, a stalwart advance beats them
Fortes are no longer concern to noone with these
yeah due to the nerf once you get close forte no longer do damage
