When you did a video on them before i noticed you gave them paladin lookin skin. How do you do that? I have been lookin around in the game for that but I havent found one. Know where I can find it?
I feel that the main issue with going top against bot is that basically every other sword and shield unit in the game is already an offensive charger. For 2* we have the ironcap swordsmen, for 3* we have the condottieri and for 4* we have the new season unit. Considering how commons these units are i think it's weird for someone to think "i want another offensive unit" With the bottom tree they have their own unique niche as sword and shield unit that can charge or be a shield wall for range unit, basically a more versatile version of the imperial spears.
It's a fair point and certainly has an element of truth, although I'd say equally it could be argued all the most sucessful sword units in the game at the moment are offensive chargers so may thats just the Meta that works? Having said that I think bottom line is equally fully viable and still works well :)
Actually agree with you. bottom line Man at arms maxlvl 20 are so tanky, i also choose the last 3 points on veterancy on mid (3x40 Block) already seeing the diference with that, and im researching his tech tree, +25% block then going full upgrade will get them op :) Also with bottom you can work better as a team, wait a little with pikes and will be impenetrable! I understand the point of Evo, might be just a way of playing, mine is this! Btw good vid
The Regeneration line is handy if you're not a Tank with the Heal. You want a nice long swinger like Gaive, or Nodachi with that, so you have some reach outside of their arc formations. You don't gain much by stacking the same unit on the same hero in this case, as long as you're not taking heavy casualties, that's enough defense/healing. You still need a solid offense.
Fantastic video my friend! Made me actually wanna level my MAA now that top line looks YEETY XD cant wait to max them myself! Think I got them around level 12ish or something hope your well brother! :D
Thanks dude :) haha yeah they are quite a fun unit, the top line seems to make them quite fun and aggressive! Although looks like a possible rework upcoming in season 5
Hi banana!.. 😆.. ya..you should level up your MAA, as we can see in next season trailer MAA & spear sgt will get updated, (and spear sgt can do charge), please make a video about them later!
@@EvoLozGaming yeah should be fun to see the old unit changes and is nice to see they are taking our feedback about giving them some love into consideration! 😁
These types of units is why i hate the unit training plan system we have. Two viable veterancy lines and rather than letting you try out both and decide which you like you have to dedicate yourself immediately or be willing to spend sovereigns unless you want to start leveling a unit over again (a process that can take a few weeks)
Yeah the unit training plans are a real pain, thankfully so far i've had some left over but Guess in future i'll just have to stump up the cash, at least then people get an idea of what each veterancy line is like before they head down. (a good soloution might be to add them to smuggler or seasonal store)
Evo Loz Gaming Yes please if they add them in the seasonal store I would be on them right away, I have some imperial pikes that I’m leveling up to top but my liege told me the bottom one is better since you can use them more and more rather than once which I’m seeing as an issue because if I have to use them for one push I rather use them for more and I don’t want to re level them up since there already at 9 but later I will, anyway awesome video Evo hope your doing well
I've been using these guys for the past couple weeks in my siege group. I find they really do help me score higher in siege due to them being able to take quite a bit of damage and dish out a bit as well.
For many units there is often quite a clear choice but with two viable lines here and from feedback on previous videos thought it was worth the extra time to try both :)
Nice video man! Glad you took my advice with the vet tree. I also run glaive and keep mine in the offensive vet tree style. Seems they help a lot with the Glaives ability to do dmg to multiple units. But with their amount of HP you really can't go to wrong with them no matter what!
My only exposure to this game so far has been the RUclipsrs taking paid promotions to play the game... Its refreshing to see the game from the perspective of a player, especially a player that has good gameplay..
I’m working my way in the unit tree towards the MaA, and I have absolutely no idea what I’ll be spending my veterancy points on. In my opinion, spear guards are better defenders so I should maybe use the MaA as offensive, but on the other hand that healing ability and shield wall can be great to have a hybrid unit to attack and defend at the same time. And of course their appearance looks way cooler on the defensive tree ;) but I’m still struggling to make a decision
Another awesome vid. Do u think they are worth leveling, since we have condos and azaps and tseregs and stuff as damage dealers, and for defensive maybe palace guard are the same in how they play but why not just pick spear sergeants at that point id say. What do u think
Hi there. Im very new to this game. Only 26+ hours. Your videos have been a massive help. Very informative indeed. Your gameplay and content is brilliant. Keep up the great/hard work. New sub from me :)
As a ranged player, the extra survivability on the bottom line lets me manage them much easier from a distance. With Condos and Azaps, if I look away for a second they've gotten themselves slaughtered in most situations, whereas with Men at Arms I can turn my back, find a better shooting spot, focus on some archers etc and they'll still be trucking it.
a belter pre level 100, one to go for once you have tier 4 shields, at least the vanguard, fire or namkhan archers, some tier 3 or 4 muskets and some basic tier 3 or 4 cav
I don't have my Men At Arms at max level yet, however I boast a near 70% win rate with them with a max units killed in a single battle of 234. I am taking them down the bottom tree. My original opinion of this unit was VERY low - I was very mad that I purchased them on the way to Monastics and wished that I had picked up the Squires instead, however after sticking with them and learning a strong strategy with them I have had much success. First - Their damage is based on their stance: Slashing for Loose formation, Piercing for Block, Shield, and Cover Commander. Second - Cover Commander is the most important ability for this unit (possibly in the game) as it allows something that no other Sword/Shield unit can do: Unit Stacking. What this means is, if you have your units attack area, they naturally spread out to do their work, meaning only a couple of infantry at a time can have surface area on a target at a given time. This is true even if you charge in, as the units will first stack to hit during the charge, then spread out. Cover Commander allows your units to break that rule and cluster - which is very bad when you are facing AOE, but VERY GOOD for DPS. Third - Shield stance keeps your MAA alive by preventing them from running off into their deaths (but watch out for AOE, of course). I main Maul, but this is also true for Halberd: If you hit someone with your ult, activating Cover Commander will instantly have your MAA dive in and all stab them - which is why I run mine with the Assassination Doctrine. Additionally, if you do a charge from shield stance, you can line your MAA up perpendicularly to the target, getting even more overlap with the charge (making the damage more focused), AND most importantly: After your MAA charge in, the moment they have dumped their damage activate Cover Commander - and they will maintain their cluster and DPS focus. Personally I have had far greater success with the MAA over any other sword/shield infantry in the game, including the Azaps just because of the level of precision that they allow.
Would you recommend sticking to the selfhealth as a Longsword player? Im thinking the stacking effect of 2 heals might make such a big difference for them(?) Im yet to unluck them.
Yeah most longswords would be running the self heal so yeah i'd stick with that. Also remember the upgraded men at arms the Paladins are a real improvement!
ive had MMA for a while and i much prefer the tanky line, mainly because theres allready a lot of offensive sword units, and they still do good dmg in the defensive line and they make a good body guard unit. imho
I have a question. Hopefully you can do a video in the future for this. In the UNIT TREE, you can use honour to level up some of the units, like for eg, each level increases piercing damage by 2%. So should that level upping happen when that Unit is fresh at Level 1 or when its maxed out? Does it make a difference?
I like the bottom tree of MAA. They're very useful in Siege Battle as they last longer and can do quite a decent damage. They're also fast even though they're heavy armor but if you got in a sandwich between 2 units in the supply point when the supply point is yours, they can last even longer with the healing ability so they can stay alive for a while and come up on top winning from that sandwich which the top tree might not able to do in that situation. I like damage but I'm more like a defensive guy having a tanky unit that can do damage and last long in a bad situation like them. They're really great if you use them to the best of their ability and Leadership. They made me won more game than before by around 60+ percent when I got them. Without them, I would've stay around 40 to 50% win rate as they match my play style
I actualy consider that healing "huge ammounts", yes. My men-at-arms have ~9400 health; the healing is 250 per second for 15 seconds(which means 3750 healing). That is close to 40% of health healed. Love them! ^^
@Evo Loz Gaming Great video as always!! do you know how the block stat works? would it worth it to stack block since this unit can attack while blocking?
Untill they get reworked, between bottom and top veterancy, I'm probably leave them in the barracks and take out Azaps on their stead. xD Good video Evo! Appreciate your effort on leveling them up :D

Hey Evo, i can tell you 100% next season u get season quests for spear sergeants and maa, after you complete them you can promote your maa and ss , they will still have their lvl, and get 2 new veteran lines
Anything is nice until someone comes in with a maul..... Maul basically has one button that can wipe out any hero ingame with one click, and two buttons that each wipe out any unit ingame in one click. Only way to beat a maul is to come in with something like serfs or demense troops, let him click his button and kill all your men and your hero in one click, then hope the guy behind you takes advantage that the maul is on cooldown and charge him with something like condos....
Not even close to be solid...a 4 stars and a HALF (should be almost a ironreaper in tankiness and dmg) losing so much against a 3 stars unit in front-to-front combat...this game lacks balance in everything.
Took quite a while to level these guys! Hopefully you enjoy the video :)
