Hey Jeff. I'm 47 years old and have never had a beard before. I met my girl who is 28 last summer and in the end of last year she asked me if I would consider growing a beard. I told her I've never thought of it but was open to the idea. She gave me a Percy Nobleman complete beard kit for christmas and I havent shaved since then. 3 months in I love my beard and get tons of compliments basicly every day. (i have around 300 coworkers) When people ask why I grow a beard I tell them the truth, that my girlfriend made my try it but I love it for myself.
Lol I didn't grow my beard for the attention of others, and certainly not just to "get women". I grew it for myself, because I liked myself better that way.
My job wouldn’t allow me to grow a beard for thirty years. After retiring four years ago I grew it out. I have pretty good genetics. OMG - what a difference in social interactions…!!! Grow it while you are young guys…!!! Best decision EVER..!!! Thanks Jeff…!! (I know you understand the feeling)
I can tell you this, there is a big difference in how people respond to me when I keep my beard short or when I grow it much longer. And I found that if you can actually grow a proper DENSE beard (like yours), it is more so associated with masculinity/aggression and being that I can grow a beard that's dense like yours I do see a huge difference in how people talk to me, more respect, and the way women treat me (like a man, not a boy), and attraction is definitely higher in that aspect especially when I'm fully bulked up. I do however think that a long beard that's not dense gives you that "wise man" look but doesn't give you that masculine warrior look as much as a dense thick beard does, which is why I think those studies have very mixed results. I would love to see a study where they compare masculine perceivability and beard density instead of solely focusing on length.
I can vouch for this…..I’m almost 46 and recently got on the dating apps…. Got a very white/grey 10 days stubble going and you wouldn’t believe the attention I’m getting from women of all ages…..late 20’s and up. And what’s the one thing they all say….. There was just something about that beard! And they hint towards me growing it longer because it’s such a turn on ;)
As a heterosexual woman I clicked your video because I was curious about what a man with such a beard would have to say about masculine power…and 😂 to find that that was the point. I appreciated the peek into the other side of the fence…and masculinity, like a beard, should be treated with responsibility…which is where the rarity comes in. Good video! (Even tho I’m not your target market 😅)
Hey Jeff - what a great, candid video! I stumbled across this today, and the timing was right-on. I'm 4 full months into growing my beard (mainly white/gray with some brown parts on my cheeks). Until today, I was pretty dissatisfied with a rather small sparce area practically in the center of my chin, but your comments got me to me realize that I need to look at the strengths or the positive side of what I've grown to date and not to dwell on that one negative aspect. I plan to follow you more closely and perhaps even get a chance to talk to you. For now -- so long bearded buddy!!
Hi from the Netherlands. 2 months ago I stopped shaving and have a beard. Reactions are very different so I still am what insecure. Especially because I am blond, but my beard is more gray mixed with a more brown Moustache and sidebeards. You motivated to continue. Next week first trim. Good idea to collect pictures of what I want. Thanks
Great video and theory and I am sure it works for a lot of men but personally, I feel more confident when I am cleanly shaven, I feel fresh, I feel confident and I feel respectable and trustworthy, I like to dress smart-casual with a shirt and I like to feel fit and healthy. This becomes my persona it gives me confidence which then makes me perform confidently in all aspects of my life. I think having and showing confidence is also a very powerful message and others around you seeing this is attractive to them. When I personally do not shave I feel dirty, unclean and like I am hiding behind something. Anyway, these are only my personal thoughts and what works best for me. Keep up the great content, i love it.
Awesome video Jeff. I'm 40 years old and about a year into my beard from being clean shaven pretty much most of my adult life and I have noticed a profound difference in my social life. Almost shocking. It's like I'm an entirely different person. Wild. I've noticed that women in general stand closer to me. They're overall just more engaging and males seem to respect me a lot more.
Great video! Thanks, Jeff. Your beard is one of the best! I’ve been a mostly fall/winter beard grower for about ten years. It seems to command respect (unsolicited, of course) and I get compliments from both men and women. It definitely feels more natural to have it than to not have it. Thanks for the great content and have a great day! 👍
Since my 50's recently i haven't shaved for around a year, its a natural thing and I'm leaving things to nature..its like I'm getting a message to have a beard for some reason and I'm trusting nature...
Good topic Jeff. I hadn’t worn a beard for quite some time. But always sported a big stach which was my personal trademark. This past December, I decided to grow out my beard for once and for all. My beard is white and full. At first my wife hated it, but at the three inch mark, she became very fond of it, especially since I keep it clean and groomed. Unfortunately last week I screwed up when trimming and had to cut it a bit shorter. It still looks decent but she said, “you need to let it grow out”. In any case, I have been complimented by a few young women, but mostly other beardsmen. I can’t see myself without one nowadays.
Great video Jeff, I agree with almost everything you said in this video. Indeed, a beard gives more confidence and power, and gives that feeling that you're a stronger than everybody around you / in other words, invincible in a way - Cheers
@@jeffreybuoncristiano by almost i meant all, sorry if I wasn't clear there. there is also a certain elegance in a beard, in the fact that a man can play with the slight "negligence" (French word I think is also used in English) aesthetic that a beard offers. This is an aesthetic I pursue : a clean beard but also purposefully associated with slightly messy hair. it is an aesthetic that needs to be understood before trying to be pulled off. but I think it is at the core of what elegance is : mastering the nuances of "désinvolture"( another French word).
Dear Jeffrey, i remember watching your videos a few years back and you were of great help. Now im happy to see your channel grew to over 40k subscribers. You deserve even more. Best of luck to you and all your efforts!
Excellent video and that last picture of the boy wanting a certain hairstyle was hilarious. You have a very unique sense of humor so keep using it in your videos.
When I grow a beard, some people flirt with me. When I shave my beard, those who have been flirting stop interacting with me. But the same amount of new people start to compliment. From my experience, the beard / no beard ratio is 50 / 50.
Hi Jeff ! You have an awesome beard! I wear a beard too but not long as yours, my beard i sstucking not growing longer on the downside and on the sides of my face. Do you have a good tip to grow my beard longer ? 👍👍
Majority of women dont like facial hair for many different reasons. I personally prefer to have a beard i will alternate from a full medium lenght to a 10 day growth. Ive been told i look better with a beard and it suits me and i find it completes me. Don't get me wrong you can still look powerful and masculine clean shaven because a beard hides distinctive facial features so it all depends on your facial shape and features. Some faces don't suit a beard and if you have an odd shaped face a beard will either compliment your looks or hinder it so be sure to trim and style it to your needs🧔 🧙♂️
@@scotthoward4836 I agree that shaven can look manly as well, however the studies show that actually most women DO prefer facial hair. The length is the debate however. But absolutely all statistics show they prefer facial hair
yeah i had a beard but i also know how it sucks when a bunch of food and lint from the clothes is stuck in that beard and it's grose so i had to shave it and since that i clean shave every day and i'm still masculine, my jawline looks good and i also shave my head so i look even more masculine and i'm masculine personality! Meanwhile i also see some gay and sissy's with beards so it's jut illusion of masculinity in some people's eyes and doesn't mean that person is actually masculine
I simply don’t grow hair on my cheeks or jaw. I’ve let it go for a year and nothin but a couple. My chin and can grow though…. I keep that along with my handlebar mustache. I just don’t know what else to do to fill out the full beard
Every time I grow a beard, it becomes very irritating and even painful to my facial skin. Some call this "hard" beard. Is there a way to fix that crap? I've tried oils, beard softeners, etc. Nothing seems to work. I'd love to grow a nice beard, and I can, it's just real uncomfortable for the first 6 weeks or so... what do I do?
First off, most women like nicely trimmed short beards. Second of all, it's easier to shave than to maintain a beard. Know how to properly trim it is hard work.
But....being able to maintain that beard also shows dedication, patience, and effort to women who may want a reliable partner in life. That's one thing you're missing out on.
I lately here Santa Claus so guess i do something right..But as a drummer new musicians are like yeps he''s our new drummer.. But man sometimes feel like Chewbacca getting out of bed..
I’m 58 , never had a beard other than stubble , been growing it out and it’s absolutely epic , thick full , I love it. Should have done it a long time ago
This is an excellent message in today's world filled with grown boys.
