- I'm back from my vacation and finally back with a new edit! There are still some edits that I have to repost and I will, but I wanted to post this one first. I made it a few weeks ago, but I never got the chance to post it because of the videos I had to repost.

She was always in control until she got control of everything that's when she lost control of herself and I find that so sad. She is definitely one of the most well built villains, if I might say character, ever. I really like her she's one of my favorite characters of all time. And she deserved, more than anyone in the show, the fourth season and her planned redemption

She has her redemption arc in the novels and she is way stronger than zuko she is no longer seeing her mother

Tilly the last Waterbender I remember as a kid, I hated her and was happy that she never had a redemption arc bc she was a evil villain. Now that I have watched it again she deserved way more. As a kid I never got how she was suffering mentally. She was never born lucky.... but honestly when she became sane again I wish she got a redemption in the comics. Imagine how badass a duo of Zuko and Azula would be. Ofc after Zuko became a master firebender.

I don't think she *needed* a redemption arc, though... I like her character as it is. Also, I liked the way she was sort of the co-final-villain besides Ozai.

Everyone in my family thinks Katara or Zuko should have killed her.They are wrong it’s not her fault she turned out like that it’s her parents fault.Their mom like Zuko more and I know that feels horrible.Their dad taught her to be like that is she had better parents she wouldn’t have turned out like that.And i know Zuko tried to help her change,but the thing is she doesn’t know any better.Her whole life she had so much pressure she couldn’t let her father down and she thought her mom hated her.
Exactly, she may behave straight up evil, but most people aren't born like that. People made her like that and even though she did horrible things, she deserves to get better, because she is sick. A lot of people don't like her and disagree and I can't say they shouldn't, because of course she did horrible things, but nonetheless, it wasn't her fault she became this way. If only she could've relied on someone like Zuko could. If only someone loved her...
Agreed I do not believe anyone is born evil. What makes one a villain is those that influenced them and how their life was shaped from events that happen to them.
Not to mention everyone helped Zuko but no one helped her not even her uncle I can go into a long rant about Azula she’s my favorite character I honestly think that she has schizoaffective disorder and who knows what else she has

Azula was definitely my favorite Villan her struggle and trying to make her dad see her someone so wonderful and perfect but me seeing her weakness her wanting her mother love she just needed love her heart was so broken

I love this song and Azula is my favorite villian because with villians their either cocky and always lose their target or so emotional that they don't focus enough on succseeding. That's what I love about Azula she's a perfect blend and honestly who wouldn't wanna hear Azula tell you:

Some people might use the excuse that she still had a choice to change but her mind was set in the way her father shaped it who never really cared about anyone but himself and power, this is a good AMV it really fits her.

I'm so conflicted about Azula. So many people have different opinions of her but it's not so black and white.
It depends on what you believe. I don't think anyone is born evil. Most kids do something cruel because they don't realise it's wrong. Usually, someone corrects them and it doesn't happen again.
But with Azula, her father encouraged that behaviour and her mother didn't do anything about it. (I blame Ursa more than anyone tbh. She always ignored Azula and made hurtful remarks instead of actually fixing her. Why would you just sit by and watch? Would it have killed her to spend time with Azula too and tell her you loved her? Why only Zuko?)
If she had someone that truly loved her, she might have been different. Zuko had a tough life because of Ozai but he always had someone beside him who truly loved him. First his mother and then Uncle Iroh and then real friends.
Azula had no one. Why didn't anyone believe in her? Why did everyone assume that there was no hope for her from day 1? That's what irritates me. No one even tried to help her or show her another way.
At the same time, she was horrible. I get that. She smiled when Zuko got burned, said awful things about Uncle Iroh when his son died and joked about their father killing Zuko. She manipulated her friends and showed no empathy for her brother. I don't remember if she ever actually killed anyone?
But I've never been able to hate her, no matter what she did. Maybe I'm just victimising her but I really don't think she's all bad
Yeah, people say she's evil, and she is but that's because she was made to be that way, her father encouraged that behaviors and rewarded it. If zuko didn't have Ursa and uncle iroh he would've turned out the same. All Azula needed was good parenting which Ursa and ozai both didn't give her. Even iroh thought that she is a lost cause and called her insane and her mother also passed remarks about her. Not to mention that they're in a royal family, and in those it's fairly common to try and take the throne from your siblings.
She is evil and bad but she wasn't born that way, she's just 14, no one can say that she cannot change. Zuko changed so much she can too with proper care and love.
I really want a redemption for her.

It is weird how in season 2 she was so scary that she was like a demon but in season 3 she became more human and lost her mind and became a broken human not a monster

Controversial opinion maybe, but within context Azula didn’t actually do anything wrong. Her attitude is definitely villainous but she was a child soldier and all her actions were against enemy combatants. I don’t think she even killed anyone except Aang, the enemy leader. She took lots of POWs like the Kyoshi Warriors but didn’t actually kill anyone. Everyone she fought and hurt were either enemy warriors in a time of war or traitors to the crown. The only thing she did that isn’t covered as an act of war is arson in The Beach. Her suggestion to burn the Earth Kingdom to ash seemed offhanded and even then it was Ozai who sanctioned it. Like I said, she had an evil attitude but looking at the context of a child soldier in a world war, she didn’t actually do anything that bad.

I really think the end wasnt really fair. I mean, she won against Zuko and this was what she wanted. Then Katara came and she would lose too, if there was no water and her big brain.
Fact is, she won the Agni Kai. Maybe not a fair win, but she won. So she should be Firelord...

Azula doesn’t have mental problems, or at least she wasn’t born with them. She realized at a young age that when she did good she got praise from her dad and like anyone who wanted to make the person they looked up to proud she did as well. She continued to be stronger to continuously get more and more praise. In her eyes her dad wasn’t a bad guy, he was big powerful and strong, something Azula admired hence why she looked up to him. All this together is what DEVELOPED into a mental problem. But Azula is a very extreme person, one who perfection is a must. Whatever she does it’s either 100% or 0%. She trusted her friends so much she would sacrifice herself for them same as with her father, just like her skill and raw power. When they both betrayed her she was in shambles, something she perfected and gave full trust to ruined, just the though that something she was perfect at wasn’t perfect no more. That hurt her. Then when her father said she couldn’t join him to burn the world she got pissed. Her day was already ruined by her friends betrayal that she couldn’t let her father betray her as well. Once he said why she couldn’t go she calmed down, but that scenario goes to show how sensitive she now was. She didn’t trust anything she perfected, her talents, her relationships, all of it was perfected, and if one of her perfected arts were no longer perfect then who said the others wouldn’t follow suit. These are thoughts Azula was probably constantly reminding herself of. Anyone with all that would go insane like she did. I love azula’s character because of it. It made her so special and unique and her psychology behind everything is so fascinating. I want her to stay a vilain and am glad they didn’t change that nor give her a redemption arc.

Pleas get rid of the overexposing filter. If you like the colour scheme I have no problem with it. But pleas try adjusting the lighting so it returnes to its original state and does not look so grainy.

It's so fitting that when Azula finally wants the Agni Kai against Zuko, she loses. It's so fascinating to think about the endless possibilities if Zuko & Azula *BOTH* turned good on the Day Of Black Sun and went against Ozai (let's say Azula overheard the entire convo between Zuko & Ozai after being discarded like she's nothing and given Fire Lord title as a way to keep her obedient)
Zuko & Azula finally talking about their mother together, finding out she's the biggest threat to the Fire Nation and the reason Ba Sing Se can be saved. Imagine the reaction Azula would have knowing Ursa loved her this whole time and finding a journal that tells the whole story of her exile after having to leave her children. Imagine how protective and guilty Azula & Ursa would be over Zuko and wanting to kill Ozai for ruining their family.
Azula losing control and losing her way would make finding her way again all the more meaningful. Loving her brother and mother while despising her father with her entire being would make perfect sense as an end for her character journey. Her being the glue to keep her family together after the war is such a phenomenal twist. She parallels Katara as both her and Azula will *never* forgive their abusers. Azula is such a masterpiece of a character

While Azula IS a prodigy showing great bending skills at a young age, I feel like it gets lost on people that with her merciless perfectionist approach (failure equals shame and humiliation), what makes her such an excellent fire bender is not just being "born lucky" as Ozai liked to say. She must've been training like crazy (no pun intended).
Someone correct me but I think she also used the phrase "the best isn't enough".
People including Zuko just think she was born a prodigy, but with the toxic mindset of perfection and failure instilled in her by her father, who she has been LEFT ALONE WITH SINCE AGE 11, I think the implication is clear that she always needed to meet insanely high expectations in order to get approval and love from her father. Only to find out that he never cared for her and just used her in the end. The only person she had left, the only person who she thought ever loved her, didn't even love her after she spent all her childhood pleasing his bone-crushing standards.
That's when she has a mental breakdown and gets put into a mental asylum by Zuko.
Ozai's highly abusive parenting combined with her family's and everybody else's TOTAL neglect of her completely ruined her mental health, up until the point where she suffers from severe mental breakdowns / illnesses at age 14 and still fully as a young adult. The search comics, set four years after her mental breakdown, show her suffering from severe auditory and visual hallucinations and paranoia - a clear indication that even after all those years, no one could / would help her get better.
How fucking sad is that?
Zuko was horribly abused, but at least had Iroh as a loving father and his mothers love and the whole Gaang, getting away from the palace at 13 years old.
Azula was left alone at 11 years old with the worst man on the planet for three years. She had fucking no one. She was protectionless and at the hands of a monster.
Abuse shouldn't be ranked, but she is, by far, the most horrificly ABUSED AND NEGLECTED child in the entire story.
Azula's life is a tragedy. She was never loved or protected by anyone.
