I just found Mr In-between last month. Excellent show. I recommend Warrior, with the newest season bringing some epic moments that made it easy to imagine Bruce Lee on the lead role, and Banshee, made by some of the same folks.
Ok I have to protest about the inference of the "inappropriateness" of the relationship between Leon and Natalie in "The Professional." As a little girl, traumatized of course by what she's seen, she has a fantasy moment that is cringey BUT in no way does it actually infer anything but her imagination. Leon is devoted to her as a protector, he plays a simple person VERY well with a simple view of life, he trusts easily letting his boss keep basically all his money without feeling at all like he'll never let him have it if he asks, it's a very appropriate relationship considering the inappropriate nature of the circumstances. Yep he does begin to teach her about being a "hit person" and yeah that's hardly an appropriate scenario but it's all he knows so he's imparting his only expertise to her because that's all he has to give. And "The Company Man" is VERY good. I have not seen The Ice Man, I do know the actual story it's portraying and Shannon is hardly the physical analog of the actual Ice Man, but I'm a huge fan of his and I'm really looking forward to it.
@@liquidsunshine697 No. That's what I'm saying. It's VERY good, there's nothing of the kind in there other than that one low-key cringey yes little run of little-girl imagination which they could have left out but NOT implying any such thing for real.
I fully agree with your praise for Mr In between. I lived in Australia for over 10 years and can attest for the authenticity of the characters. The laconic nature of some of the tough guys, the greed and boneheadish crims, and the philosophical way they handle the situations they find themselves in. Great humour and surprising realism. 10 out of 10 for me.
I really wonder how much is understood about the small subtleties of the micro aggressions written in and acted that are normally innocuous, but can take on a menace when said a certain way. I wonder how much is lost in between cultural mannerisms.
Yes it is almost too authentic ray reminds me exactly of my dad he is dead now so I feel comfortable saying that but I am not joking when I say they are almost identical it's crazy to me!!!!
@@AbbyJasmine-xu1kg As an American I originally had a hard time understanding but within 20 minutes I was in sync and hooked to the character and history. The acting and naturality is superb and refreshing!
@@AbbyJasmine-xu1kgHey, Did you really have to use another internet buzz word(s) in micro aggression ? Seriously here in Australia consider language like that as obnoxious and ignorant at the same time.
Being Australian I was delighted to see such a well written and acted that didn't pull punches on being Australian. I absolutely loved this show and nobody I know has a bad word to say about it.
I would have never ever found this show on my own until my co worker's brother in law showed him this then told me about and I'm so glad because this show is now one of my top shows ever. Love everything about this. A+++ Thumbs UP and shared.
This is one of the best shows period , and it gets increasingly better and season 3 was amazing , such a sad yet amazing compressed storyline ... The story arc w his brother made me cry like ive never cried before as a 40 yr old man. Such a fantastic show.
I was playing my favorite game Hulu. Scrolling for 20 minutes and I ran across this show. Got hooked immediately. Bummed it's only 3 seasons. One of best shows I've seen.
If people think that Scott Ryan took influence from Walter White in *"Breaking Bad,"* just a reminder that the character of Ray Shoesmith in *"Mr Inbetween"* predated Walter White by three years, and began developing the character since 1998.
I love this show. Got it from a members video. I've recommended it to my son and his wife, my boss, my neighbors and all have thanked me for the recommendation. Another one for the DVD win column!
As a native of the land down under, this show is certainly a local product that I can feel some genuine pride over. What is most interesting to me is the way even the most mundane moments of the decidedly average lives of the marvellously average characters in the story are highlighted and used to excellent effect. Yes, people brush their teeth, yes people fart, and so many other random moments whose ordinariness make for a very “real” and believable show!
So glad to see recognition for this show. Got hooked hard during season one, and after finishing season two, I sat and wondered if it was the best show ever made. Just got done riding the roller-coaster of the latest episode, and the ending totally wrecked me. It will be an artistic tragedy if this really ends after season three.
Ugh its too oo shorrrt. I watched seasons 1-3 up until now and I did that all in one night and never felt an ounce of boredom or dislike for anything in it, and now I hear this is the last season????? Tf???
Dude, thank you. I can't rave about Mr Inbetween enough - and goddamn Fox has truly screwed up its marketing on this bad-boy. It's one of my fave TV shows of all time, yet I accidentally stumbled upon it late one night while trying to find something decent that I hadn't already seen. I'd never heard of the show, but I binge watched Season 1 in that first night. The fact Ryan is both the actor and writer is just mind-blowing, and to think this is his first big hit is absolutely inspirational. I just wish the episodes were a bit longer, but wonder if the format would hold up as well. Hell, if they made a Mr Inbetween movie that managed to live up to the series, it'd be up there with Animal Kingdom as an Aussie masterpiece. I'm an Aussie myself, and I can appreciate the uniquely realistic take on Mr Inbetween - the characters talk just the way normal Aussie blokes do, so if you're not from the land down under, I can reassure you, that yep, we are a bunch of dry fuckers. Thanks again for highlighting this series, and you've reminded me why I recently subbed to your content.
I know what you mean man. The whole series and “The Magician” gave me a new perspective on creating, writing and acting in a series. I cosplayed as him many times these past few years and I was pleased on how this fantastic show ended. A one of a kind series!
Mr Inbetween is amazing. I binge watched the entire three series in a few days but now I’ve gone back to the beginning to watch it again and see what else I missed. It’s unbelievable how much is packed in to each episode.
Ray is so believable, albeit a superhuman survivor. His reactions, non-reactions and slight twitches to any inter-personal situation, is so well preformed. That character is such a fleshed out personality. I understand that he has lived in Scots creative universe since 1995/1996. But still, I love good characters, and this one is such a living character. Its all in the subtle way he treats the same stuff. Throughout the show you'll see similar actions and reactions. Like the way he reacts to lies and missdemeanor. Its more of a sigh and shake of the head, than anger. Like he, in accordance to us (the viewer), is thinking "why would you do this to yourself, just give him the info/ money". I view him more of a reaction to what people do, rather than him going out and doing the deed. He has a strong code he follows, that is as subtle as his threats. Anyways, good on you giving this a bump mr. Flick. I loved this show. It shocks me its as undervaluated as it is. Also, in the final season, their nod to "the magician" is just lovable. Edit: This reminds me of "what we do in the shadows" in the creative genius and superb dialogue throughout the production. Hope Scot gets the praise he deserves.
I just discovered it too. As a writer I'm blown away by the writing. The "hit man with a heart" trope has never been handled quite the way Mr Inbetween handles it
My son introduced me to Mr Inbetween last winter and I have been dying for the 3rd season to come out. It IS the best TV show out right now but I am so disappointed that the 3rd season is so short. What I find so interesting about the character is that despite him doing such awful, awful things, you can't help but really like him.
Been watching since day 1 and it's must see TV for me. I tell my friends and no one wants to give it a chance. As you say Darren its not for everybody. So dark at times and so funny at times. Good review man !

Silence of the Lambs is a top favorite of mine so I was skeptical about a series based on that but I really like it. Very well done I think.
Thank you for doing this video. I overlooked this show so many times but ended up binge watching the entire series at once and loved it so much. I’m so bummed out it has been canceled though. Can we get a position going to convince them to do at least another season, if not more? Help!!
Mr. InBetween is such a great series! Thank you for covering it and recommending. My husband and I love it. Personally, I want to say how much you're recommendations helped me throughout Covid and lockdown. Every week I looked forward to your videos and I rely on them very much. I appreciate how in-depth you go so as to warn those who might not like the content of some movies. Or love the content! You do a great job! No Darren why are you introducing everybody to my hidden gem. It’s so crazy because I just started watching this show a few weeks ago and I was saying it gives me breaking bad vibes and everything. I considered the best show I’m currently watching and here you come saying all the same things lol I’m just so hurt that it’s only 3 seasons and the creator said he’s done with the show. Also wished the episodes weren’t so short but it’s the best show on Hulu and I will miss it.
DARREN. I defy you to find ANYONE who has seen -The Man Who Killed Don Quixote- from beginning to end. It's on HULU. Take this challenge and find out one of the most interesting things I've ever come across. I've been waiting for you to notice this rabbit hole.
Mr. Vandame, I'm so glad I found you, I love your picks and above all the way you present them. I have been watching your videos for quite some time, but this is my first comment, I got to say that you are right, Mr. Inbetween is one of the best shows out there in quite some time. Please keep doing the great job you are doing. Thank you.
Just last week I was telling my 20yr old son he had to see it!!! Its F'ing great!!! Now I can send him here for this legit endorsement. I think I'll start from the beginning with him and stack up the new season for binging!!!! Thanks so much for the video!
I absolutely love this show. The best thing I've seen in years. This may sound unsettling to those who are familiar with the character of Ray, but I find him to be very relatable in many ways. By the way, I love your Mandy shirt.
Oh wow I completely forgot about this show, watched some of it last year and then I must’ve just forgot! Thanks for the reminder, I remember liking it at the time I’ll have to go back and start again thanks Darren
Love "Mr In Between"...binge watched first two seasons a yr or so ago...then show went dark. Kept looking for it. Sooo glad to hear it's back in production. Yippee! (oh....nice review)
Anyone who missed Warrior, it’s on HBOMax, and the latest season was even better than the first, with many scenes easy to imagine Bruce Lee in. Also, you Gotta watch Banshee as well, if you’ve never come across it. It’s like if Ozark was made by the John Wick team, and the showrunner, Jonothan Tropper, is in on Warrior as well.
Thanks for the recommendation. Whats funny is I had no idea Tropper was doing TV shows. I've always known him as a writer of books and I've read all of his books and he's one of my favorite writers. So I'm looking forward to checking those shows out.
Thanks for this recommendation. This was one I completely overlooked and honestly have never even heard of but the footage you showed in the video looks like it's exactly the type of show I would like. I doubt he can pull off Brian Cranston levels of good acting but the show sounds fascinating and I can't wait to check it out. Also thank you very much for recommending a really good TV show that is not a movie. I know you focus on movies and we like that but as many of your viewers are I'm also a gigantic TV viewer. There are so many fantastic shows out there and it's a lot of fun to find out about something like this that is a hidden gem that also has multiple seasons we can enjoy so we're not quickly finished waiting for more but rather have a lot of goodness to look forward to because it already exists. Fingers crossed, here's hoping you might be encouraged to Branch out a little bit and offer some more great TV show recommendations. Obviously there are plenty of great ones out there but more great recommendations never hurt, like this one.
IN THE UK 🇬🇧 no one has heard of it … it’s been hidden no advertising.. NOTHING I WAS LUCKY FOUND CLIPS ON YOU TUBE then subscribed to DISNEY + I’m telling everybody random strangers just anyone who will listen to watch this MASTERPIECE 💯👍👍🇬🇧

This show is amazing! I had no idea what I was going to get when I first started it... I was intrigued by the cover... So glad I clicked it and binge watched the whole thing. Great recommendation and review!

Thankyou!!!! I would never have given this a second thought but am going to check it out right now. Your recommendations are almost always spot on so I'm really pumped about a surprise new series to binge on.

I'm sharing it because I want them to keep making it 😂
@@DarrenVanDamlmao man I would love that......we need to start a petition 🤣😂
DARREN. I defy you to find ANYONE who has seen -The Man Who Killed Don Quixote- from beginning to end. It's on HULU. Take this challenge and find out one of the most interesting things I've ever come across. I've been waiting for you to notice this rabbit hole.
Agreed! Best show out there
@@RicoSoprano_ let’s do it!!!
I've seen season 1. Forgot all about it. It's awesome. This is why I watch Flick Connection.
Mr. Vandame, I'm so glad I found you, I love your picks and above all the way you present them. I have been watching your videos for quite some time, but this is my first comment, I got to say that you are right, Mr. Inbetween is one of the best shows out there in quite some time. Please keep doing the great job you are doing. Thank you.
Ive been hooked from the first episode! I wish that the episodes were longer and more of them ! It’s great!
I love that show so much that I started a Facebook fan dedicated to it.
I'm very glad that more people are getting into it.
Thank you for introducing me to this awesome show!!! Keep them coming. I love your channel!!!
Banshee is savage. Fuckin loved every second of it.
Nice, more to watch.
Two of my top 5 shows for sure. Along with SoA, Justified, and Spartacus.
Thanks for the recommendation. Whats funny is I had no idea Tropper was doing TV shows. I've always known him as a writer of books and I've read all of his books and he's one of my favorite writers. So I'm looking forward to checking those shows out.
@@antonioruggiero3015 drop a reply when you've binged season 1 of banshee. Keen to hear your thoughts...
I’ve just watched the first two episodes and I’m totally hooked...
...Thanks for the recommendation, great as always.
You sold me after the first 10 seconds of explaining. Im on it coach.
You made me SO HAPPY. This is a GREAT show - MR INBETWEEN - but I thought there only were going to b 2 seasons. OMG I love this show.
This is why I watch your channel! Just watched EP1 and it’s a winner! A timely recommendation as I’ve run out of stuff to watch.
A Masterpiece most people will never see.... Freaking awesome.....
Thanks for the recommend. I'm living in Australia and haven't found any great shows from here.
I loved this show. It feels like a non-stylized Australian pulp fiction. Lead actor has a perfect crocodile smile.
Haha yeah he looks at you like a predator looking at it's prey lol! Such a great character and backstory...
... and somehow it's "lack of style" is still it's STYLE
Just watched the pilot and lol, crocodile smile is the perfect description.
I think its gonna b a great show
@@DarrenVanDam It definitely nails a particular Australian way of communicating menacingly by using restraint and irony. It’s so clever.
I watched this video and just finished season 1 of the show today. You’re right Darren; I’m hooked. I hate all the commercials, but the show is worth suffering through them. Thanks for the tip!
You clearly cannot recommend this enough. I'm in!! Thanks. Love the channel.
Thanks for reminding me. I had forgotten about this show. I watched the first couple of seasons and life kind of took over. I have something to look forward to.
A great recommendation. Watched it and we were hooked. Thanks Darren, it is brilliant.
going to watch MR INBETWEEN sounds & looks good. one to watch is an overlooked tv show no one is talking about where I'm from in the world. it's called Banshee it's old from 2013 it's really good .the shows look similar. thanks, Flick Connection
Yeah, Banshee is decent. First episode should pull people in.
Banshee is my favorite show of all time. Sleeper for sure.
You have confirmed my opinion of you Mr. Van Damme with this astute and stellar recomendation ; I luv Mr in=between and think it is criminal that it bad not found a audience.
THIS is why I love this channel!
Thanks for the recommendations
watched season 1 last night, it is really good 😀 thanks Darren!
Incredible series. A must watch. I never (NEVER) binge watch series and I watched this over two days. It is that good. My only hope is that Scott Ryan brings back the character for a full length feature movie.
Yooooooooooooooooo I took your suggestion and starting watching and couldnt stop watching the first season till it ended. i love this show! and will now subscribe to everything you make. best sho wi coudl find as of late.
Man this is why I listen to you dude. Your tastes align with mine almost everytime. Good job mate.
Great recommendation! Me and my wife just finished season two and we’re halfway through season three, love it
Just watched the first three episodes and I’m hooked already! What a great show!! Thank you for telling us about it.
This show is amazing! I had no idea what I was going to get when I first started it... I was intrigued by the cover... So glad I clicked it and binge watched the whole thing. Great recommendation and review!
Been binging it since I saw your video, and I absolutely love every bit of it.
This just came up on my newsfeed. You’re correct, it’s underrated to a criminal extent. Best all round show I’ve seen.
I’m loving Mr. in-between!!! Been watching them as they are released and loving them!!
(I’m Australian)
I thought you’d mention that “Rahs-a-Gul” from the Arrowverse is in it and “Charles Manson” from “Once upon a time in Hollywood”, feature.
Keep up the great work!!!
Dude I love your recommendations! I'm addicted to this show now 😆 love your videos
The lead in Mr. Inbetween reminds me of Steve Buscemi, Ben Kingsley, and Dave Chappelle all at once.
I started watching because of your video. Such a fun series, almost finished season 2 already. Great recommendation
I have been telling anyone that will listen about Mr. Inbetween since I found the first season! Great video about it.
Brother you nailed it on this show! Excellent & Captivating!!!
Thankyou!!!! I would never have given this a second thought but am going to check it out right now. Your recommendations are almost always spot on so I'm really pumped about a surprise new series to binge on.
The actor who plays the nightclub owner in Mr Inbetween played Charles Manson in Tarantino's Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
Also had a major part in Justified
Dude, thank you. I appreciate your recommendations big time!
I am absolutely loving Mr. In-between. I kept bypassing it. Great show. Dry humor. Anytime Ray grins, I am a bit terrified. lol Keep up the great work, Darren. 👍🏼 P.S. Didn't expect to cry so much.
I was going to ask for a show list from you 😊
Some fabulous recommendations, Darren. Bless you and take care. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have to agree with you on this one, been watching this from the beginning, was really pissed cause it got canceled at he end of season 2, was really happy to see that someone at fox decided to bring it back. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the info - loving the show! Almost done with season 2
LOVED it! I binged it all in two sessions!
Hooked! The guy is full of talent! For almost first gig is top notch! Of course you already saw something similar but the simple way it's presented to you is what got me into it. Congrats for this guy! I just hope he will get some good vibes from this!
